I just played the game and I’m fascinated with the storytelling, so long ago I didn’t felt this connection with a story.
    Great review!

A new game a week would be cool with this kind of immersion, try begin with ports comparison next time, and maybe add emulations in the mix, like Amiga point and click, ported on PC, but can be played on DS. Mybe a DOS game a week at random. Many have superlore behind. Prof Leyton never got out for PC, but itps a Syberia Myazao.

I finished this for the first time this past weekend. I thought it was alright, some annoying aspects to it though like the environments being huge, but actually having hardly anything you can interact with, Kates slow and cumbersome movement, and a lot of the characters were just downright unlikeable in their personalities. Still, the story was quite memorable and I liked the art style a lot. It really doesn’t hold a candle to the heavyweights of this genre that had already gone before it though, e.g. the Monkey Island games, the early Broken Sword games, Discworld 2, and Grim Fandango.

I’ll agree that a common theme in the series is that the majority of people you meet are assholes or just rude to Kate. It takes two to tango though and Kate, with all the misdemeanor she causes in her pursuit of adventure, like sabotage or deception in order to illegally obtain an item she needs, you can understand why she gets on many people’s bad side. Still, I can’t help loving her as a character. She is like a grown child. What starts off for her as business as usual, turns into an adventure that she gets so eager to follow, she often disregards right from wrong to pursue it… like a child.
