Had a similar situation happen here in Michigan on waterfowl opener last weekend. We were hunting a prime pond on state land, we were 4 men deep. And an individual walked in, and seen us when we he got near the water, and he was going to leave because he realized we were already there but we told him to stay and hunt with us, and we’ve created a great friendship out of it so far. Turned out to be a really cool guy.
I have met several hunting buddies this way in the past and try to offer anytime I can. That is the way everyone should handle a situation like this...
Duck hunting on the Mullica River here in NJ...a few years ago we had a person in a boat continued to harass us throughout the morning by riding up and down the river scaring the ducks trying to land in our spead ! Luckily we took down his boat registration number...as we were packing up to leave, he decided to untie my boat from the shore and set it a drift, Luckily for me I also set the stern anchor out before setting up our blind . Took pictures and videos, called the DNR and shared my information on him.....not sure what came from it, but we never saw him again for the rest of the season !
Hunting up 206 from ya last Saturday we had 6 guys come in 15 minutes till light and set up on the other side of the dike from us. Luckily they couldn’t call and didn’t have a jerk string we pulled a 3 man limit they got 2
Definitely DNR needs to be called, especially with him setting his boat out "fishing" next to you and chirping you on shots. Some people live in the fantasy of "the world revolves around me".

I finally got to hunt the morning with a buddy and went out early and found a place to set up. There are many permanent blinds. We were down about 40 yards from one but was there and setup before anyone came out. A guy came out and was going to use the blind. I shined my light on my decoys and me to let him know we were there. He went ballistic! The old "I have hunted here for 30 years! Why don't you just hunt in my damn blind, blah, blah, blah! Then he says "are you going to move or what? My buddy's father-in-law was in the same hunting club as this guy and didn't want to start anything since he hunted with his father-in-law sometimes. We graciously moved to a small bay. We were getting some shooting and sure enough this guy and another hunter, came back there and setup! Oh I chewed his ass! We were done shortly after that. On the way in to shore, the guy still had his decoys out in the original spot! I could have been a jerk and called the DNR on him for unattended decoys. Some of these guys think that they own the lake or hunting spot because "they have been hunting here so long".

I just have never understood the immediate hostility some people have. I've found myself fairly lucky I suppose that most people I've come across in situations like this have taken the high road and either invited me to hunt with them (or vice versa) or at least politely engaged with me about being near a built blind. Its so much easier to be kind to people, I feel bad for folks like this guy who feel the need to fly off the handle.
It is sad. I wish he would have handled it differently too. I probably would have moved down a hundred yards if he was civil about it...Also if he didnt show up 10 mins before shooting light
I used to love duck hunting but have since stopped shortly after 2020 when Covid broke out and the hunting population became saturated. So many dangerous, unethical people in a cutthroat competition. My Britt is a well-trained NAVHDA pup and now we just focus on upland…much less stressful.

We have had similar run ins and called dnr! People like that are the reason the sport is dieing and it needs to stop! Make friends and work together if the opportunity comes can learn new things from other hunters
Thats why I gave up duck hunting a bunch of years ago. And when they want your spot they set up 50 yards from you and ruin your hunt. Best of luck to you. Northlake in MN has the same issues.
There are a bunch of first generation hunters nowadays that have zero ethics. I know anyone can be like that, ive seen guys that know better do it too.
This happens all the time here where I live these people but water front property in public water and the move here from outta state and think they own the water. Drives me freaking nuts. We have had so many people move into our local creeks and just ruin what decent hunting we had. It's sad to see. I'm hoping waterfowling becomes unpopular again like it was 10- 15 years ago. Used to be great never seen anyone.
You handled it very well, but you should have called the DNR so he would not do it to others and like you said, ruin a kid from wanting to hunt! You have the video you can still make the call to the DNR! Please do.
All over UA-cam content creators post hunter harassment videos and what happens nothing. Hunter harassment is illegal call the DNR doesn’t matter if it’s a Karen or stupid kids. It ok to press charges against assholes. Don’t just take it. Remember nice guys finish last.
This is another example where people feel they have become entitled and empowered to do anything which they please. I will give you a situation that I was in at a hockey game. A T-shirt dropped from his little drone and I caught it and his jerk ripped it from me and took it because I was from the opposition side fine except I was going to give it to this kid two rows in front of me and he saw that, nothing I could do it the time however, as luck would have it I got off at my train stop and guess who I saw getting into his truck with his girlfriend well I l let it rip. I told him I hope you realize that I was going to give that T-shirt to that kid two rows in front because he’s looking right at me. I was gonna flip it to him. He was upset as hell which I don’t blame them for thanks for ruining his night. Again, it was a t-shirt that probably was worth 25 cents. You are a patient person. I grew up in Western PA and that person would not have lasted very long.
I don’t get what mental illness is floating around that people feel so entitled to act like ever river lake pond or corner of the earth is there’s. Yeah your right people don’t want to hunt cause they don’t feel safe or they have had problems like you have they go home an be like it ain’t worth it. A what was that dudes end game to duck hunt or fish ?
I’m so confused by this video. Does he own the blind or does he own the land and the blind? He said “land” and you said “spot”. Where I am from, you would be the one that is illegal/trespassing. That is assuming he owned the land and you were trying to use the “public water/navigable water” excuse. I know we aren’t talking about the same state though.
His family owns the land up to the water which is behind me about 50 yds. As long as we stay on the water from a public access and hide in the cattails that have water (not dry land) we can hunt anywhere. He has a very small blind that is in ruin on the cattail point which anyone could build because its public land.
If it is his Daddy's land .... I would understand why he is pissed off. It's kind of like burning flag, you can legally burn an American flag but it's not a good idea. Can you maybe can legally hunt adjacent to somebody's private land as long as you're in the water but is that a good idea? If they are trying to hunt the same land that they paid taxes on? He said they own the land but I didn't hear an acknowledgment of that
If you enter a spot on public water and stay in your boat while hunting it’s completely fine. Once your feet hit the ground and it’s on private land you’re 100% in the wrong
@@Wisconsin_Outdoorsis that how it is in wisconsin? Genuine question because most of the time it truly is a thing where you cant touch the bottom. You have to float. Its a big thing with rivers especially. Not saying that other guy is any better being a douche and all but just food for thought.

@@Wisconsin_Outdoors best advice I can give is what I tell the grandkids. Just because you can don't always mean you should. Sometimes it's better to walk away so you can enjoy your next day 🥰
Well ya know if you didn't set up near a blind you would have had no problem. Why did you set up next to a blind? I would never do that! I feel you were the cause of the problem. But I am old school. You even said you did not know if anyone was going to use it. You found out the hard way. Got you're ass chewed for not be nice to who ever put up the blind.
That would be like saying don't hunt near a deer stand that's made of wood, rotting with half the cleats missing, and on public land...lol. That's not how any of this works at all.
I'd call DNR on him, just make sure you do not fire in his direction. Also man my only problem is that you have a house and buildings right in the shot line.
Maybe you should have taken your own advice. You wanted to be in that spot for a reason? Just like he did Maybe its easier for his dog to make retrieve from his chosen spot. I feel what you did was no different from the guy who walks into woods on opening day of deer season. And sets up several yards from someone hunting out of a tree stand.
I do not know what the situation is there but in MD it is illegal to set up within a certain amount of yards of a lisenced blind. P.G. county I think it's 500 yards. In Charles I think it's 250 yards. But again idk the situation is there.
Bro, it’s pitch black out. You are not there 10 minutes before shooting time. When you say things like that you ruin a little credibility of your story. @Wisconsin_Outdoors yeah me too, cause I'm not the type to talk about it And camping out 2 days for a duck?! That's insane and it sounds like you need some private to hunt so you don't have to worry about knuckle heads

You’re not legally doing anything wrong, but your Hunter edict is bad. Like I said before, you are legally ok, but this guy has obviously put some time and effort into building a blind and you didn’t see it because you didn’t scout it out.
You should be hunting two hundred yards from another blind or another hunter. That's that's what old time hunters did, and still do, it's you young hunters That disrespect everything
I respect that on a weekend but on a thursday morning on land that is open to the public via water I can set up. Call DNR, it's harassment. Happened to us many years ago on the Susquehanna River, They parked in our decoys and wouldn't move. Went out to talk to them "before cell phones" and they told us to pound sand, they got their asses kicked by my oldest brother and his buddy..... problem solved.
On public land, I would rather hunt somewhere that hunting is not very good than to even be around other hunters. Unless I absolutely know them
I just have never understood the immediate hostility some people have.
This is why I no longer hunt ducks.
I used to love duck hunting but have since stopped shortly after 2020 when Covid broke out and the hunting population became saturated. So many dangerous, unethical people in a cutthroat competition. My Britt is a well-trained NAVHDA pup and now we just focus on upland…much less stressful.
I am sorry to hear that. It is tough out there now days
thats getting worse with the chicken truck chasers
Hey bud was that on the east or west side ? my buddy had some problems out by Eldorado marsh with his 10yr old son with him some guy was acting like he owned the marsh. We're all just trying to duck hunt WTF!
I was in the "seaplane bay" on west side south of oshkosh...There are alot of morons out there...If you are gonna act like a child do it when actual children are not present... Good luck to you!
I thought that looked somewhat familiar I work in Oshkosh drive by there everyday looks like a good spot see birds in that bay of the road all the time. Good luck to you guy's hopefully no more morons.
@@Wisconsin_Outdoors
@@ducksintheskymodel1216 Good luck to you too! If this fella get out of line again we will get him caught...
We have had similar run ins and called dnr! People like that are the reason the sport is dieing and it needs to stop! Make friends and work together if the opportunity comes can learn new things from other hunters
You said it perfectly. I agree
Justin if you see this send me a PM or something. I know that spot very well I’d would like to connect with you about your encounter!
Email me at wjustin1021@gmail
Thats why I gave up duck hunting a bunch of years ago. And when they want your spot they set up 50 yards from you and ruin your hunt. Best of luck to you. Northlake in MN has the same issues.
It is tough out there!
Im a bow hunter who lives and hunts on my land. You wouldn't believe the zipper heads I get tresspassing......and how many cameras they've stolen.
I believe it. Public land is even worse
@@Wisconsin_Outdoors my 50 backs up to a WMA....
@@TheLikkinBranch I have 40 with no public within a mile but if you border public they will tresspass for sure
@@Wisconsin_Outdoors yes, however i draw bucks from the wma as it's like 30k acres. I'm allowed 5 bucks a year. They are my primary food source.
And that is why I own land. I can dove, deer, duck and turkey hunt in peace.
Wow. Crazy. Invite me next time. He wouldn’t have done that if there was 2 guys there.
You may be right about that
I wonder who it was. Did you ever find out?
@@PossClan30 He came from down south channel near brick house
There are a bunch of first generation hunters nowadays that have zero ethics. I know anyone can be like that, ive seen guys that know better do it too.
This guy was an older guy and if you read through the comments there are other people who he has done this to in the same spot. It is a shame...
This is why I don't hunt anymore
I am sorry to hear that
I would call the DNR on the dude!
I will be back! I will call if it happens again. I dont want to use that unless completely sure.
That is sad...I like that there are alot of new people getting into the sport over last 10 years but it does make it alot harder on public land
Is that a house right across from you? If so I’m my state you could not hunt that water as it’s to close to a house to even shoot.
It is not a house but is a "structure" and we are legally far enough away
Always right before shooting light. I hunt here in New Mexico and make the effort to get far away from away.
I always try to get away from other hunters but this was a weekday and figured I wouldnt see anyone else
You handled it very well, but you should have called the DNR so he would not do it to others and like you said, ruin a kid from wanting to hunt! You have the video you can still make the call to the DNR! Please do.
Its called harassment not allowed to do it.. should of called dnr and police
I should have
@@Wisconsin_Outdoors I'm glad u stayed calm cause I wouldn't be able to
Does the man own the land or not?
Makes me want to put the bow down for a bit and grab the decoys! Plenty of water to go around!
Seaplane bay south of Oshkosh set up on south side cattail point LOL
All over UA-cam content creators post hunter harassment videos and what happens nothing. Hunter harassment is illegal call the DNR doesn’t matter if it’s a Karen or stupid kids. It ok to press charges against assholes. Don’t just take it. Remember nice guys finish last.
I agree and try not to post clickbait but I also do not want to call Dnr for no reason. I realise now after the fact I should have
I love duck hunting but the community makes me sick the people have no respect for each other and everyone is a land owner on public land 😂
Completely agree!
One of those hunters in transition
Lol the estrogen is getting to him!
Its not just hunting its the same with fishing they act like they own public property
Very true
Yeah but didnt he already have a blind set up there?
opening day expect the worst
The world will never know. I think he just went out looking to bitch about something
Just an observation ! It looks like your decoys are right in line with housing, across the lake. Maybe not a good location ?
He said they own the land but I didn't hear an acknowledgment of that
If it was me, his blind be gone that night after he had a chat with ole green jeans. He’s mad that you can afford motion decoys lol ok.
Another reason why I always have my big lenses on me.
I should have called DNR just don't want to be "that guy"...
@@hardwaterfreaks1828 I wish I had a camera other than a go pro lol
If you enter a spot on public water and stay in your boat while hunting it’s completely fine. Once your feet hit the ground and it’s on private land you’re 100% in the wrong
That is correct but I can walk on the ground in the water legally
@@Wisconsin_Outdoorsis that how it is in wisconsin? Genuine question because most of the time it truly is a thing where you cant touch the bottom. You have to float. Its a big thing with rivers especially. Not saying that other guy is any better being a douche and all but just food for thought.
@@Notmyname-co5sc As long as we are in the water we are legal
I would have done the follow up shot lol just a little pepper wouldn't have hurt him
I didnt want to give him an excuse to call the DNR with any good reason
Try hunting a CA refuge where someone will negligently shoot you from 60 yards since your the only group finishing birds fully 😂 it’s wild here
That is crazy! I have been shot a quite a few times but not from 60yds. probably 100+yards and it hurts. I always wear glasses for that reason
@@Wisconsin_Outdoors I literally bring shaded or if it’s cloudy I have clear safety glasses and HAVE been hit in them more than once.
@@dakotawashington6994 I would do the same as you! The BBs at 60 yards will not hurt you bad if they break skin but they will definitely poke your eye out! Be safe out there!
@@Wisconsin_Outdoors luckily the tule patch I was in absorbed most of the energy, then the dudes tried to walk into my spread just to “check where I was” after I had been flashing them with a light all morning and asked them nicely to just scoot out to 80-100 yards before light, I told him to stay off the refuge then called the warden with my limit and definitely looked like I had chicken pocks
@@dakotawashington6994 You guys have some good duck hunting out in california but I am sure the hunting pressure is crazy!
Put a report in with the gamewood in this way then anything ever happens

Yes he was!
You hate to see it
Sad times we live in... way too many people, too many hunters, too few places to go, no ducks to speak of, everyone videoing absolutely everything for youtube and social media, a totally incompetent DNR wildlife division( at least Minnesota) begging for more and more hunters, insanely stupid idiotic youth seasons and on and on. Feel sorry for you man..
Don't feel sorry for me! I feel bad for the younger hunters that lose intrest because of morons like this...
You have to call DNR!!!!!!!
You should have called the DNR you have all the evidence on camera. Sorry we as hunters have to deal with this from outer hunters. 🤷♂️makes zero sense.
It is sad
What in the world 🌎
Crazy!
One thing you got to understand, bud is these landowners have more money than you can think of and they don’t wanna be your friend they just wanna live their life with their money nobody else and kill animals that’s it
It is no different than fishing by their dock from a boat in this case. They do not own the water....
Ducks are not worth it.
Lets go hunting sometime.
Call the DNR. Don't engage. Keep recording.
Why not just invite him to come in the blind with you and hunt?? Problem solved.
If he's within 100 yd of your decoys it's considered Hunter harassment call the enforcement next time
Interesting. There really isnt much for rules when it comes to this type of thing that I can find
Hello
You handles it very well !! Good luck this season ! If you get a moment a sub would be awesome me and my 9 year old son are documenting our first year duck hunting in south Louisiana !!! I sub’d !! 🤙🤙
THANKS! I will have to check it out!
You are not wanted, then leave.
I have to say not very happy with all of this.
You should probably just not setup next to his blind.
And he should not have been doing what he was.
But both are responsible.
You may be right about me but he was still wrong to act that way....In this case I am right every time legally....
The blind had no sign of being used and is completely rotten and not usable
That would be like saying don't hunt near a deer stand that's made of wood, rotting with half the cleats missing, and on public land...lol. That's not how any of this works at all.
I'd call DNR on him, just make sure you do not fire in his direction. Also man my only problem is that you have a house and buildings right in the shot line.
I did not shoot in his direction. There is no house there. Those buildings are vacant other than during the Airshow we have here EAA its called
@@Wisconsin_Outdoors ok. Then I agree you're in the right
Maybe you should have taken your own advice. You wanted to be in that spot for a reason? Just like he did Maybe its easier for his dog to make retrieve from his chosen spot. I feel what you did was no different from the guy who walks into woods on opening day of deer season. And sets up several yards from someone hunting out of a tree stand.
I was there an hour before shooting light and he showed up 10 minutes before
@Daren954 It’s called public land for a reason. Don’t blame someone for someone else acting like a jackass.
I see it both ways. Point is he said it was his land...
I know its water but only the DNR can make other work for.you both
I do not know what the situation is there but in MD it is illegal to set up within a certain amount of yards of a lisenced blind. P.G. county I think it's 500 yards. In Charles I think it's 250 yards. But again idk the situation is there.
You knew his blind was there…set up on it purposefully…your entitlement is just silly and disrespectful to all hunters
I should have filmed the "blind"....It is not a blind. not even a dog could sit on it.
So you paddled in on someone elses blind and think you were harrassed? 😂😅 oh man, create a problem and then blame them.
Someone elses blind? Because you build a blind does not make the spot yours. Thinking your blind is a placeholder is where the problem starts.
Bro, it’s pitch black out. You are not there 10 minutes before shooting time. When you say things like that you ruin a little credibility of your story. He obviously put some work into putting in a blind and you didn’t scout it out properly. Looks like he got out there about an hour before shooting time and he saw your light. I’d be pissed off too. This one is on you buddy.
Funny thing, I've been hunting EVERYTHING for 30 years and never have had a situation like that, BUT you have had LOTS of situations like that . I think that says alot about YOU !!!
I am very agressive to get the best spots on public and we camp out sometimes for 2 days to get good spots on public before opening day. That pissess people off. I also do not give a fuc* about peoples feelings when they think they "own" a spot. Hopefully you do not find me in "your" spot at midnight before opening day....
@Wisconsin_Outdoors yeah me too, cause I'm not the type to talk about it
And camping out 2 days for a duck?! That's insane and it sounds like you need some private to hunt so you don't have to worry about knuckle heads
@@moline800hdyup4 I own private land and have private land I can hunt. I love hunting public land too. I never set up on people...they set up on me and everything I do is perfectly legal. I will camp out for 2 days for ducks and alot of other people do too in my area...thats what it takes to get some of the spots
@Wisconsin_Outdoors if you got 2 days to camp maybe travel 2 days for more spots 🤷♂️
This "BLIND" is a couple 2x4s sticking out of the mud... there was no sign of hunting in the blind when I got there...I knew the 'blind' was there for about 10 yrs.... it was litterally a couple boards sticking out (like a dog platform) I am a respectable hunter and I do not try to intrude on other peoples areas
Wait so sticking 2x4’s in the mud means you own public land now? You’re the problem. We all pay taxes you clown.
So the guys blind was not lisenced? Just a blind he made on public, first come first serve area?
Lol you believed his bluff 😂
