    Great explanation thank you. What if we have different landcover types and we want to know the area of each different landcover type in different cells?

      Danial - great question, but complex. Zonal Statistics is probably still your tool, but you might need to change the definition of the 'zone' or 'zone field'. For example, if I wanted to know - for every different individual parcel here - the landcover area/type, I would change my 'zone field' to whichever field had an individual parcel number. Or, maybe even the object ID of the vector shapefile.
      You mention cells - If you have two different landcover rasters, you can use this tool too! Just make sure you clarify in your own mind which one is the 'zone' raster, and which is the 'value' raster before you run the tool.

      @@FreelanceGeographer Thank you so much for your reply, Forrest. I ended up reclassifying the raster multiple times and running zonal statistics for each of them separately and then calculating the rest of it using Excel.
