    Thank you for watching! If you're thinking of moving abroad once it's safe again, we really recommend doing your working holiday visa in Australia. It's definitely something to research if you're daydreaming about travelling again one day. We hope everyone is staying safe & as always, let us know if you have any questions!

    Great video. You raised an important point most travel vloggers seem to miss. Sydney is an expensive city, go figure, its a large world city. But it's easy for most foreigners under 30 to get a working visa, easy to get a job and make great money. We live in Sydney and my 17 year old daughter makes around $30 per hour + 10% superanuation + tips working casually as a waitress at a restaurant, $35 per hour on Sunday's. Last year our family were on holiday in New York and a waitress about 30 years of age said she was getting paid $7 per hour (whether that's legal or not i dont know). How can she look after a family on that in New York?! We went on to Vancouver and Amazon were boasting with full page adds they were paying their staff $15 per hour so i assume most people make less than that.

      You hit the nail on the head. For a young person in Vancouver, it’s difficult to find a job that pays more than $15/hour. Servers can be paid less than minimum wage in Canada & the US. They have their own minimum wage since their salaries depend heavily on tips. That said, you can make more than 3k a month as a server (even though you’re only making $8/hour) because of tipping culture - but if a table doesn’t tip you, you often have to pay their lack of a tip out of your own pocket. 8 years of experience working in restaurants here! Lol. The wages in Sydney are fantastic. We are so grateful to have been able to work there & save some good cash. Thanks for watching!

      @@nickandraychel Thanks for replying. I'm looking forward to your review on Phnom Penh. Been following you since you lived in Cambodia. Our family has been there 5 times on holidays (easier to get there from Sydney!). Absolutely love the people and their gentle, friendly, happy nature. Incredibly poor with a horrible recent past and they teach us that you don't need things to make you happy.

    Wow that sounds so wonderful! If only it wasn't so far away. Definitely on the list of places to visit. Vancouver is pretty cool too. Do you have a plan for a place to settle long term?

    • @nickandraychel
      @nickandraychel  4 роки тому

      It really was as a great experience. We feel so lucky. Eventually, we’re hoping for Vancouver / the Fraser Valley long term. We’ve also considered Halifax. We love Canada & love the coasts. 🌊 Hope you are well!

    Hey, really like your videos. Do you prefer Sydney to Vancouver? which one do you like more overall?

    • @nickandraychel
      @nickandraychel  3 роки тому +2

      Thank you! That's a hard question because we consider Vancouver to be home, so it has a special place in our hearts. It's so much smaller than Sydney, too - but without bias, I think we'd say Sydney. It's a more exciting city with more job opportunities and better pay. Vancouver is awesome but so many people can't afford to live there, even we were just scraping by. Sydney has nicer weather all year 'round, and more beaches to explore. Both are such amazing cities though.

    How do u think about Sydney in comparison with Vancouver in terms of affordability?

    • @nickandraychel
      @nickandraychel  4 роки тому +2

      Food is definitely a higher price in Sydney, the rent is the same or higher, but the wages are significantly higher so it’s easier to save working in Sydney than Vancouver in our opinion.

    • @nickandraychel
      @nickandraychel  4 роки тому +2

      For reference, it took us 6 months to save 3K in Vancouver vs. 12K in Sydney in the same amount of time. The wages in Australia are typically much higher than the wages in Canada.

    Nice video guys! I'd like to ask you something, as a professional tattoo artist, wich country do you suggest between Canada (Toronto - Vancouver) and Australia (Sydney - Melbourne)? thanks 🙏🏼

    • @nickandraychel
      @nickandraychel  4 роки тому +1

      Hey! Damn... that's a tough question, haha. Maybe Australia? All four cities you named would be good. Would recommend Toronto over Vancouver for work though if you do land on Canada.

      @@blase.tattoos a tattooist would make an ok living in the big cities but I think a good tat removalist would make a killing in any city in Australia in the very near future.
