Prior to decking, I would have welded braces from one beam to the other, making it one structure a solid structure. The decking will help, with the beams pushing away from each other, but wilded beams are so much stronger.
instead of just laying those beams on the ground I would put 1 shorter one on each bank running parallel to the beams. this way they can`t sink and push up your planks !
A good bit of gravel to let the water drain and minimze ice heave, a couple of 4x4 steel beams slantwise to help hold shape, Then a bunch of 1/2 logs crosswise notched for a gravity fit..... If you get a flood, the steel won't go far without wood pulling on it. The walls on your bucket!
When you kept going back and forth across the beam I thought for sure we were gonna see you go for a swim before the video was over. :) Making some good progress! I think the 2x8's or whatever those are should be plenty for the decking, no need for plywood, but it's your bridge, build it your way.
Yeah like Bryan said,m get yourself a snatch block and tree strap,..boy that would make that tuggin' job easier on your winch..... Nice job,..wish I could be there you to lend a hand,....
The winch idea could have worked if you have straightened the bar with the backhoe from the beginning, just saying. :) But its there now! Good work Billy!
You should be placing large flat rocks or pouring a cement paf under the beams. This till spread out the load of the bridge and any vehicles using it over a larger area. Thus keeping the beams from sinking into the ground, also, keeping the beams dryer controlling rust,
What you should have done here, Is place large rocks at the waters edge on both sides of the bridge. if the ricks are large enough, it would control erosion when the water flows faster, and help with the movement on the road due to weight and traffic.
The go pro was cool Bill. Also, why bother with the plywood on top? If you want to use something put some of that rubber matting down you have, may help with better traction on the bridge.
umm Bill I would cut the big tree down that you were talking about it will be better for the long run if you don't the 110 will be tighter across the bridge if you are going to try to get it over again
Justin thinking about you shield thingy for you trailer - it might get in the way when digging etc - I would suggest a hood for the open part where your tools are.
Would have been so much easier to swing that beam around first, then straight pull with the winch cable running over the bucket on the same bank to keep it from having a dip. Oh well it's done now.
how about a lid on the box thing on small trailer with a hinge that way you don't need to make a shield cause it will always spill over and you can still get to the tools there
All I want to know is where to get the iron beams? I'd like to build a 16' ATV bridge. A couple of iron beams like that would get me a really good start.
It would have been a whole less complicated if you used the backhoe to move that beam, after hooking up a chain, you would have had control of all of it's movements without getting off the machine to re-hook or move the cable.
Bill i have a question , before you had the JD110 TLB , what kind of machine did you have at the cemetery for digging the graves ?? the JD 110 seems to be just right for what you do !! thanks , i love your videos keep them coming bud !
Alright bill since no one else has jumped your ass on the winching techniques I'm going to have to play devil advocate and tree hugging hippy. DON'T RUN YOUR WINCH CABLE AROUND A TREE! Not only is it bad for the tree, it's very bad on your cable. You need to invest or make some snatch blocks, that way you could change direction and a few "tree saver straps" and some kind of cable weight, the weight will cause the cable to drop if the line breaks.
How do you Canadians like your health care system? We in the US are in the beginnings of another civil war. Our government is totally out of control & has been for years. It is now coming to head. Anyway - good video Bill
I dont think the green lumber coating is good for the river environment when it rains it may contaminate the river and you may get in trouble. Just sayin
I think it’s one of the greatest advantages of being Canadian. I just can't imagine living with the worry that an injury or sickness could bankrupt me or my family or that the level of care you received was based on how rich you are. Its too bad that the USA system is based on the policy makers and administrators getting filthy rich rather than helping the sick.
these are the projects that everyone wants to see... outdoors cool stuff.... no more bucket building!!! keep up the outdoor stuff bill!!
Prior to decking, I would have welded braces from one beam to the other, making it one structure a solid structure. The decking will help, with the beams pushing away from each other, but wilded beams are so much stronger.
45:01 i think thiers a shopping cart on the right side of that river. thats awsome scrap
that bridge is so damn bright! can see it from a mile away.
I like the lady bugs going for a ride and hanging on for dear life...

Take your Cedar Logs to the sawmill. Have them saw 1" boards and then you'll have another winter project.
I understand your thinking on the concrete, build the dam thing that works best for you.
Tree huggers probably loved that cable cutting the bark off of that tree

hey bill i don't think you should put plywood. just leave it the way it is . look good that way .
The winch idea could have worked if you have straightened the bar with the backhoe from the beginning, just saying. :) But its there now! Good work Billy!
No plywood!! Let it drain the water off! Looks good though!
Looks good Bill.
you should use a bit of plywood or something as a door for that box on your green trailer, that would fix it.
You should be placing large flat rocks or pouring a cement paf under the beams. This till spread out the load of the bridge and any vehicles using it over a larger area. Thus keeping the beams from sinking into the ground, also, keeping the beams dryer controlling rust,
Great video bill i enjoyed it cant waite to see the bridge all done

Your lucky Bill that you have no snow cause over here in British Columbia we get 5 inches of snow :(
umm Bill I would cut the big tree down that you were talking about it will be better for the long run if you don't the 110 will be tighter across the bridge if you are going to try to get it over again
You should get a remote control kit for your winch so you don't have to walk back and forth to advance the winch.
that lady bug was sure having the ride of its like on that ibeam
Justin thinking about you shield thingy for you trailer - it might get in the way when digging etc - I would suggest a hood for the open part where your tools are.
Nice lawn sweeping bill
Smashing stuff bill :-))
Those iron beams will never cause any problems :-)
Would have been so much easier to swing that beam around first, then straight pull with the winch cable running over the bucket on the same bank to keep it from having a dip. Oh well it's done now.
You should hire an excavator evan and it will lift it hirer and the buckets are better
crib in your supports with logs and fill with gravel and rock, just take a look at a logging road bridge.
Awesome Bill!
the rain might wash some of the dirt away u should drill a hole in the steel and drive a steel rod in the ground so it does not move
well before the 110 we had a 4110 that was a little bit smaller than the 2720 it worked but way to small for digging graves
bulid a lid for the box on the trailer bill!
how about a lid on the box thing on small trailer with a hinge that way you don't need to make a shield cause it will always spill over and you can still get to the tools there

Cut the tree and clean the creek with the JD 110.
Looks great bud
You should have removed the tree prior to building the bridge.
jack of all trades master of none lol
It would have been a whole less complicated if you used the backhoe to move that beam, after hooking up a chain, you would have had control of all of it's movements without getting off the machine to re-hook or move the cable.
+Tom Gately cant you tell he just love playing around like a little kid, let him enjoy him self
too much friction on that winch dude
Cut the tree and no need to put plywood on bridge the planks will work great
A snatch block would come in handing for this job.
Thanks bill good video
damn bill you got lucky a few times
man those suggestions when i watch bills videos ruin my appetite
why didn`t you put planks on top of the beams and screw the cross pieces into the wood ! wouldn`t that have been easier ?
Awesome looking bridge Bill I like it what's it going to be for just driving over with the 4-wheelers? or Dilly using his bike
Bill i have a question , before you had the JD110 TLB , what kind of machine did you have at the cemetery for digging the graves ?? the JD 110 seems to be just right for what you do !! thanks , i love your videos keep them coming bud !
nice hat man, its awesome
Ladybug,and spider...

Or coat it with that rustoleum stuff called deck restore it works awesome
lucky!!!
you need a snatch blockfor the cable
Great Vid Bill!!!! Screw the haters i don't see them building a bridge
What you going to drive across that bridge?......Hope only atv/small motor-bike.....
hmmm...i may have dug some pockets to set the I-beams into the banking....food for thought
whatever happened to the rest of this build project? Can you please up load the next video?
Be CAREFUL using the plywood, that stuff gets mighty slick when wet, and sleet and snow will be even worse.
on the hose put thred tape on it so it dose not leak
How thick is that steel? Will that powder nailer shoot through 3/8" steel?
Hi bill
I like your new gun room hat
What was the clamp called that you used to attach to the end of the beam?
NICE ONE BILL :) !
your going to regret not putting them ibeams in the dirt specially once you get weight on their with ice and snow
awful lean toward where the bridge will go so lets build the bridge first to make it more difficult to drop that tree. yeah, that'll work well.
At 14:19, Canadians men's gymnastics... Balance Beam event.
What kind of "gun" is that you were using to secure the deck to the beams?
Thanks Bill
no plywood just give it a good coat of stain every year.
Hey bill keep up the good work love the vids :)
I bet moving those I Beams was stressy.
31:00 next build: crane hook
PRESSURE TREATED PLYWOOD !
