One thing I carry, that doesn't get mentioned much is a hori hori - which is a Japanese gardening trowel/knife. I find it great for digging cat holes and fire pits, allowing me to cut through roots and act as a secondary belt knife.
I take a lot of medications for chronic illnesses and such so I have a med kit alongside my first aid kit. I have a very comprehensive fire kit. Then I have my toiletries and personal items in a kit. I even have several Boy Scout mess kits and 2 stacking bento boxes that I cook and eat with. Then, of course, food and coffee supplies. I always pack enough clothing to change every couple of days and to have extra in case I fall in the water and get all wet. I always carry at least 2 tarps and my air mattress. It’s getting harder and harder for me to get up off the ground. I’m thinking of switching to a hammock if I can figure out how to hang one inside of my tent. I’ll rig something up, eventually. I don’t take much else besides the basics. I always keep my phone, headlamp and medical devices charged up. I also take a cooler to keep cold foods and ice in. I only camp in my best friend’s woods now because I need to be close to help if I fall. I tend to fall often. 😔 I love your videos. Keep up the great content. 👍
Very glad to hear!!!!! I have friends that are no longer able to get out and camp!!! Even in designated areas.... so the fact that you can still get out and camp is fantastic!!!! Every trip doesn't need to be one where we hike 30 miles into the back country.... just getting out no matter where is the important thing!!!!
@@nickmartino2839 I’ve been physically handicapped for many years now. But I don’t let my disability get the best of me. I may have to do things a little differently than before but I still get out there. It’s raining today but the rest of the week will be nice and sunny. I’m leaving tomorrow to go camping until Friday or Saturday. I never do just one night anymore. It’s too much work to set up. I want to take full advantage of it while camp is set up. Thank you for the encouragement. I appreciate it. 😊
My filter now that is the best I’ve found memory solutions. It comes with a 6 liter bag and the filter is rebuildable it also has a charcoal filter. It’s a game changer because you can replace the insides. It’s very affordable the rebuild kits are like $22 for 2. The filter itself was $45 on Amazon. Haven’t found anything even close.
Thank you so much for even more help with a bag. The hubby and 1 have 1 bag each so we can just go. Plus others I don't give away all my secrets. Im just on so many meds Im not sure exactly how to handle it. I am 55 and a brain aneurysm and stroke survivor for just a little over a year now. Not all things are exactly easy for me even though I try real hard. Thank you again.
I had a stroke too. I have Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension. That means that they don’t know why but I have too much pressure on my brain. I take meds to control that plus depression, anxiety and bipolar meds. All caused from the pressure. Just pack all your meds in a bag or box. Put them in your tent out of sight of prying eyes. Take on schedule as usual. I know packing that many meds may feel undaunting, but it’s really easier than it seems. Just try not to over think things. Btw, I’m 56. I’m right there with you in the same boat. You would not believe how many meds I have to take.
@@angieconley6501 Im so sorry. I have a lot of the same things you do anxiety ect. I also have fibromyalgia its a struggle there's days it hurts just to have socks on but I do it. How idk lol but I do. Thank you so much for your input
If you have any of the cold tea bags be careful as their shelf life once opened is no joke. I have just had to pour away an almost whole packet of 12 because I added some others on top. They do not go off however the seam in the plastic tea bag fails.

@@kj-tf8oh I just pack all of my meds in a mesh bag and set the bottles up next to my bed in the tent then take on schedule as normal.
LOVE gear videos!!!!
Nice! I see a lot of videos on gearing up for winter camping, but a lot less for the summer. Many thanks!

Haven’t found anything even close.
Best bladder hands down is an msr dromedary bag, depending on my needs I have a 2 liter and a 4 liter. I'd say I use the 2 liter the most.

On your lantern, if an emergency happens, you can put para cord in the handle and spin it to attract attention from a plane

Nice gear. Do you camp around bears and what do you do differently around them??? Have fun stay safe.
What chest bag is that?
I was under the impression that it is a bad idea to use cookware over an open fire that has a non-stick coating?
No light is useless!
What?
What’s your opinion of twig stoves? We have a lot of fire bans here but I like my firebix
