Nice review. Can you please provide the details of the stand you are using for the L8?
I got the L8 2 days ago. I learned that using inputs 3 through 12 is how multitrack recording is enabled, no matter the DAW (Im using Logic Pro X). Track one on the DAW should use input 3 as its first mic and so on. Input 1 & 2 are configured to be the master input for the entire mix which is why it picks up the same mic on inputs 1 and 2/tracks one and two. Weird and counter intuitive. But hey, it does multitrack record when you start with input 3 and up.
Any issues setting it up? When I plug it into the Mac I’m not seeing it in my preferences. I have also reinstalled t the driver several times
@@tylorkenniston1192 You need to allow it do go through in the privacy settings. I had the same problem too!!
This helped me a lot got mine just today and i thought it was broken or something thanks a lot !
I record edrums on 1 and electric guitar on 2 and the L-8 makes 2 seperate wav files , and mac book air wont import thise wav files they are greyed out :(

hello i love your vidoes, do you know how i would 'come in' to the L8 , with 2 x 1/4 jacks. The jacks have ' left' a dj equipment , a pioneer xdj xz,...im getting confused on how to connect the 2 jacks....your wisdom is very welcome thanks jeff
I've purchased Zoom Livetrak L-8 yesterday and I just came to know from UA-camr that I will need a virtual router to be installed on my PC to get better audio quality so that L8 can be directed to the virtual router, if not, sound come out will be a disappointment as feedback by many musicians using L8 on Zoom meeting.
I bought this because I want to use it for live performance in ZOOM meeting apps.
Is it true? I would prefer just plug in and play and do not want to go thru a virtual router.

How can I connect my piano to the Zoom L-8 mixer to achieve stereo sound? The piano has two LINE OUT R, L/MONO outputs on the back panel, but when I connect it using two mono cables to the Line In jacks on channels 7 and 8, the output sound is in mono. Can you explain how to connect the piano for stereo sound?
6:00 There is a very annoying glitch. The Zoom considers the computer playing back to be Input 1/2, so you need to go to 3 for microphone that is on pre labelled 1. However, if you are using also 3/4 as the phone input, then I'm not sure what is supposed to happen since they conflict. This is incredibly stupid and I'm not really sure what they are going to do about it.
I downloaded the Zoom L8 driver but when I go to my sound preferences It doesn't show up as an option for my microphone input. I'm trying to use Zoom L8 while I record on Anchor podcast app
Have you rebooted your computer since installing the driver?

Hi there! I am using the Zoom LiveTrak L-8 with Audition as well on the new MacBook Pro. Everything is working great except when I assign each track to a channel, the mics no longer read. Any advice on what I’m missing here?
My device class is CoreAudio (only option available) and input/outputs are set to the L8. Thanks for your help!

Hey, all. I found that on reggedit:
Logic pro and garage band the input numbers are off. 1&2 are the main stereo outputs. So if you have a mic plugged into input 1 it is actually input 3 in the software, input 2=4, 3=5, and so on. Was really frustrating at first but once you know it works great.
Worked for me, tested today. With Logic Pro X

bluecowmarketing I have a question: My Zoom L8 is getting battery dead even dough connected to my Macbook Air. The computer is supposed to give the unit power thru the USB cable, but is not the case on my console. It gives me the low battery warning, asking me to turn it off. Why???
I have not seen that. I power mine with my macbook, even when it's closed. Do you have batteries in the back of it? Could they be dead and it's telling you that?
@@bluecowmarketing I know the answer to the problem: If you connected to the MacBook in an interface mode you can only use the gain controls and not the whole channel strip and linear faders which is not acceptable if you want to use it in a live stream or Zoom meeting. The only way to use the whole features of the mixer is to uninstall the drivers, select IOS in the interface section and run on batteries (they run out of power pretty fast so I must work my way way to use an AC/DC adapter connected to the metal contacts in the compartment). Another way to use it is running the master output of the unit to an external interface like the Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 and then to the MacBook Pro. I contacted ZOOM and they told me when using OS System on the MacBook you are limited to use just the gain control and could not use the other controls when live streaming unless running on batteries.
I just got L-8 recently, but when I plugged into my MacBook, I can't hear anything when I try to play music through my MacBook, I wonder what happened!
I've set I/O to L-8.
First did you download and install the driver? Second on channel 7/8 (I can't remember which one) there is a selection at the top for selecting USB. You need to assign usb to that channel then pot it up and the master. Try that.

Hey, i don't know if you can answer this but, on my mac on Catalina, i've successfully set it up to be fully working on garageBand, but for some reason in Adobe Audition it doesn't get any signal from the driver. Any suggestion?
Do you have the L8 set as the output in audition under hardware setting?

Yes as long as the driver is installed, it should work with most of the main names in DAW
If I used an external mic preamp you think I would get pro vocals or the AD/DA, CONVERTERS SUCK
I would say your quality would be better with an external dedicated pre-amp. Then run it in as a line level to the board.
@@bluecowmarketing my situation is I'm trying to start a studio B in my boys I was going to buy a preamp and interface do u think I should use my zoom l8 with the mic pre n not buy the interface or will the id4 sound better I will be bypassing the preamp on the interface via trs pretty much I'm trying to save $200 if THE AD/DA CONVERSION IS PRO ON MY L8 but if not I'll get the id4 if converters matter I know the l8 does 24bit 96khz
you can record multitrak in garage band, you just need to activated!

I am using audition and Zoom L-20, I want my recording mix like from the mixer why it is always raw when I use the Master all the channel will go to the one track. Is there any way?
I download the Live Track L12 driver for my mac laptop. I'm using garage band but when I open the software it's not seeing the live track L12. Please advise. Thanks!

Zoom today make sure you could probably sell your old one and get a new one I don’t have the zoom page to do it you have to buy updating I believe the software or the firmware is updated to 2.20 when it’s turned on

Not yet. It may not ever work the way you want it as it’s not their focus.
I'm using ecamm live to live stream, using my L-8 for sounds with a vocal mic and keyboard. Trying to add vocal effect on voice to make it less harsh. I know there are some built in vocal effects, but I wanted to test opening GB, adding effects there an outputting back to the board (via USB channel 7), then use channel 7 only as my master mix back to live stream software. I was able to do this successfully, but lots of the time, I start hearing a regular clipping noise when I do this method and need to stop bc it's too distracting. Do you have any experience with this or know any other simple DAWs that can add vocal effects and output back into the L-8 for livestream?
There's no signal when I play back on my L8... I don't get any sound from my monitors. Help?
Are you pressing the button above the channels and master so they turn green? RED for Record | GREEN for playback
You need to press Input SEL 1/2 until USB input is lit up. The problem is then you can't use the soundpad. However, I don't really care about this feature.

@@samisattva No problem it’s amazing to me it’s not in the manual. They seem to think it’s obvious but it’s not.
Careful for a huge flaw of this unit. The track mute button doesn’t actually mute in certain apps.
Twice I had a problem with this. First time I had music playing on my CD player coming in through channels 5/6. I muted them before going on a zoom call… but everyone in the call but me heard boring rock music.
Another time I was using zoom and would mute myself to cough or drink water while the guest was taking during an interview… but it doesn’t actually mute the signal.
Strangely it does in Skype? I don’t know… it’s a great unit but has some serious quirks.
@mute buttons are pre fader so they don't work outside the unit only on internal recording on SD card chickenmuffin

bluecowmarketing yes I did and nothing . I also called zoom and they weren’t helpful at all . Is such a shame how companies act that way about their products.
Latino Graphy ok do you have the audio going in? If you don’t have to coming back, try this. Make sure you select USB on the channel with that option up top. Next is go into your audition hardware setting and choose zoom as the output device.
bluecowmarketing I tried output on audition but I haven’t try the usb on top like you have mentioned. I’m going to give it a try to see if it works. I just don’t think this should be that difficult.

What are your opinions on streaming a live small band concert? Can this device handle such this job
@@mehmetcelal5358 Absolutely. As it's recognized as an audio input, you would just need to select that in the streaming software, or if streaming on FB set your default computer audio input to that. We did it for a client webinar before and worked great.

@@jerseyltd Absolutely. You can record all to SD card. It can also run off batteries too so you can record out in the middle of the ocean if you choose.

@@jerseyltd Thank you. I did it because I bought this for my podcast and put the video up on my marketing channel. Turns out it became one of the most popular ones. I do love the board. I'm a fan of zoom as a company. Personally, if I was doing podcast only I'd love to try the Podcaster, but I also record more than podcasts so this was the better fit.

In what sense? When you're recording or when you're playing back?
Press the input select until USB is the input.
