A spellcaster can be great for this challenge, cause they can clean sheeps and goats with spells, also while they sleep, the sheeps and goats that is. Hiring a ranch hand will come in handy. Call em all to come and eat from the feeders - it might avoid any of them getting very hungry. All in all a sim should be able to have a few hours for off duty stuff then each day.
A lil tip I've discovered from my own gameplay! When you press the "shear for simoleans" button, you always get a low amount like 22 or 30 or whatever it was. BUT if you JUST press shear and then sell the wool from your inventory like you do with the llama wool and cow milk, then you get a lot more simoleans, based on what colour the animal was (the black sheep gives the most, then the wacky colours like blue, green, red, pink etc, and then the "normal" colours like brown and white) Haven't tried it with the mini goats yet, but I'd assume a similar system is in place for their milk? 😊
That doesn't make a lot of sense, realistically speaking, though. Why would they make the black wool the most expensive? I've seen black sheep, but I've yet to see a pink sheep in real life lol
@zupergurkan I'm not the Sims devs, so idk why any more than you why they chose to do it that way sadly LOL just that from my testing so far it seems like the black wool sells for the most. Personally I agree, I would've considered black wool as a "normal" sheep colour (maybe not as common as brown and white but def less rare than bright blue/green/pink/red etc) 🤣🤣
I would love to see a Stanley Humphrey rags to riches let's play where he starts a family. He could do different schemes where he makes money to get a bit farther in life, then loses all his money and has to start again. He could name his sons Oscar and Meyer.
I wanna see Kayla try this again buying the sheep one at a time and using the “call goats and sheep to eat” feature on the feeder bc sheep are actually pretty lucrative (the black sheep nets me like $300 at a time when it’s happy). She just started off with too many to keep up with, I think.
If you keep the wool in your pockets it works for cross stitching and knitting ! You won’t have to pay to craft the things anymore if you have the wool. That may be a way to increase the money.
Idk about chickens though - My sim has a chicken farm, with 8 chicken coops, and making one full of golden chickens and one full of evil chickens, I make a lot of money off the eggs when I go into town and sell them on the 25% markup - so if you ask me - chickens ARE a good way to make money quickly. You just have to get one golden egg and you can make a treat (or buy it) to turn one into a golden chicken and then it lays golden eggs (and do the same for the evil chickens) and you can turn the others and then start profiting off selling golden eggs, regular eggs and evil eggs and it's pretty lucratative.
Omg Simsie PLEASE do some kind of challenge where you have to take care of every single pet type in the game from hamsters to horses and everything in between
I think penning the sheep and goats up in more manageable multiples with their own feeders would have worked better. (my theory is the critters weren't eating from the feeder because there were too many of them trying to access it at the same time)
The last minute of this where I found out you can size up sheep is probably my favourite moment in the entirety of UA-cam. I am doing this with all my houses. Nancy landgraab you’re getting a visitor.
You don’t have to bottle feed the minis at all... they stay satisfied with the prairie grass from the feeder... at least mine do... it is an adorable interaction but so expensive…
The sheep just staring at Stanley while he makes a horse appear and then kills it is priceless. No wonder they don't like Stanley, they know what he's capable of 😅
NEW BUILD CHALLENGE You have to place everything in this order, and can't adjust it once you move on to the next step. 1. Foundation [also pool if you would like too] 2. Walls [Exterior & Interior] 3. Windows and Doors 4.Roof 5. Lights 6. Cabinets [Kitchen & Bathroom] 7. Appliances [Sinks, refrigerator, Oven etc.] 8. Furniture 9. Accessories The idea behind this is that you'd be basically building a house in the order that it is constructed in real life. Like this so @lilsimsie sees it.
I'd love to see Stanley try to get rich from breeding and selling horses, maybe combined with trying to train them up a bit so they sell for a better price!
The best way to take care of multiples is to give them funny names so you remember. The colorful ones are easy, but the white and black and brown ones are harder, so if you give them funny names, it's easier. Like Captain Spaceman or Princess Louisa, Oreo the Cookie (which sticks better than just Oreo Cookie, for whatever reason), things that stick out and you can remember it, unlike Bob or Eliza, which are easier to forget, if you say I cleaned/fed Captain Spaceman, it's more likely to stick in your mind. I mean, I didn't try this challenge at all or something.... Also - pen them up in large pens together by 5 helps as well.
I wonder if the sheep and goats would be bothered in any way if they were contained. Like in boxes of fences with a gate (and would the gate keep them in?) They don't all have to be alone in tiny boxes. They could be a few in each with plenty of space.
Okay one thing I’ve been wondering is is their goat yoga in the sims? If a sim just starts doing yoga does a goat climb on them? Because I think that would be really cute way to connect two packs that seem to have nothing in common.
What if you did sheeps(and/or llamas) AND cross-stitching and/or knitting? I believe it's the real way to use them to make money. You don't have to pay for the things needed to make items with the skills.
But Simsie, you can shear and milk the mini animals for wool and milk, and then sell those at 300% markup at a sales table and make a ton more money! Each wool usually sells for 60 simoleons, so that is double as just shearing them for money. Even without the sales table, it's slightly better that way. 60x19=1,140 simoleons per day just with wool and milk (tho I think they can give you 2 bottles, so it would be closer to 1,500 per day)
I love how right the first 4 minutes this one person from the welcome wagon (I forgot her name) completely insulted Stanley and lilsimsie is just like "Let's be friends with these cute animals here. Oh the black sheep will get us a lot of money." xD
See, I had the exact opposite experience with sheep and goats. Naming them in such a way that they are visually AND aurally distinct made it WAY easier for me to keep track of which little critters I had already cared for versus who still needed care. I also made way more money selling the wool on Plopsy than I did even versus just selling from inventory, especially if I socialized with and fed the animals prior to collecting their. . .products?. . .is that the right way to say this? 😅
If your inventory gets stuck like that, just use MC Cleaner to sell and clear your stuck items (remove anything you want to keep first, it does the whole inventory. You don't get to select items.)
i find it the easiest to care for the mini goats n sheep using the relationship panel, you can hover over them n focus the camera on all of them from there so its pretty useful. (im halfway through so ignore this if you know this already :p)
I think it would have gone a lot better if she only got like 5 goats and 5 sheep. I got a couple of goats, sheep and chickens for my own rags to riches when the pack first came out and I was able to take care of my single sims needs and start building a tiny home easily lol!
I noticed sometimes you get more simoleons shearing them for the wool and selling it, sometimes the sell for simoleons function doesn't account for quality. Excellent quality black wool is 300 simoleons each
You can also collect all the dirty sheep & goats so they're all in one place, it shows you their status on the list and whether or not they're ready to be sheared!
for this concept, i think you could also use the community jobs that involve the mini sheep and goats? it’s still making money from the mini sheep and goats
That defeats the point of this type of challenge. You get the whatever is necessary for the money making item and that’s it. The challenge of it all is to see if you can earn enough money to go from nothing to having a nice home.
Correct me if im wrong, but cant you sell the wool at the finchwick fair for more profit? I know you could sell the wool in a yard sale too for extra profit.
I think you might have done a bit better with your sheep and goats if you made a pen for them. Then if you had prairie grass growing in the pen, they could eat that on their own and you wouldn’t have to worry about all the goats and sheep as much. I don’t have the pack, but it looks like a lot of fun!😊
I was only able to get the goats/sheeps to like my sims after changing one of the sims traits to the animal lover one from Cottage Living. Lol they are so difficult to build relationship with 😭

Okay one thing I’ve been wondering is is their goat yoga in the sims? If a sim just starts doing yoga does a goat climb on them? Because I think that would be really cute way to connect two packs that seem to have nothing in common.
