    Great tip!
    As a computer scientist, I think of this all the time; we call the medium that conducts temperature a "heat sink." On computer components, we use it to dissipate heat, but they also dissipate cold!
    I've had good results thawing meat on (cool) spiral electric stovetop burners (which, as you might imagine, are good at transferring heat), granite countertops, and also on metals like you show here.
    Flipping over whatever it is you're thawing, or moving to a different "sink" after some time, helps as well!
