If someone is undeniably guilty and you have all the evidence to prove it, then torture, forced confessions, and a kangaroo court are completely unnecessary. Ever hear of the phrase "open and shut case"?

I get the impression that the American cross examining Goering, is unfamiliar with the situations he is trying to describe, or the answers he is trying to elucidate from Hermann. What is probably more important is that Goering who was an intelligent person, whatever you may otherwise think of the man. Pointed out during these long trials "that it doesn't matter what answers I give, you have already decided to execute me" !!!!! The implication of that statement is that Goering was of the impression these trials were effectively a "Kangaroo Court". Indeed there was NO International Precedent for the winner of a war to conduct trials of the losers, especially when it was the winners (in the case of Britain and France) who had declared war on Germany, not visa versa as many seem to think today !!!

Whenever someone new checks in: The Nuremberg trials were meant as an extension of international law. At the time of WWII, international law was founded on the Treaty of Westphalia, that rulers were essentially allowed to do anything they wanted within their borders, so long as they kept it inside their borders. The Nazis were so beyond what had come before, that the Allies intentionally structured the Nuremberg trials to establish that indeed, rulers could be held accountable before a legal tribunal if their behavior passed certain bounds. This is the basis that ultimately led Slobodan Milosevic to be convicted in The Hague before the International Criminal Court. It's a step forward for human rights and human liberty, which, like all law, was ultimately based on superior force -- this time, being used not for greed, but for justice.

A personal irony to you to say “fools”. The majority of people on an intellectual level of Goerings’ views things unbiased and from different perspectives, regardless of the political views of the prosecuting authorities or even the global majority. Rationality and emotional detachment is key to understanding the world in a deeper sense all the while setting aside any biases or outcomes of one’s personal beliefs.
Just like it’s important to understand and respect people of all backgrounds and cultures, it’s also essential to understand how from Goerings’ and the nazi viewpoint, that in their eyes they were actually making an effort of positivity towards their party and followed it on an extreme level, in no sense whatsoever that their ignorance, especially the holocaust itself was damaging towards themselves.
Justice is more complicated than itself and often coheres with views of the majority rather than the minority. It highlights the importance of the dichotomy between the left and right wing parties for regulating each other and giving each other a taste of reality, but still in a portion of instances, the truth prevails however in a closeted manner.
It’s been years, and their crimes are abhorrent and now out of date, it’s been an education to the world however now it’s important to look back with emotional detachment and rationality and throw ignorance away.
