True, and no doctor would list “autism spectrum”. It would be Autism Spectrum Disorder AND what disorder was documented if diagnosed before 2013. Mine says Autism Spectrum Disorder (Dx as Asperger’s Syndrome).
yes!! when i got my adhd diagnosis, not only was it written out completely but it also addressed that i have the ‘combined’ type (cant remember if its the professional term or not) which addressed how i have both attention deficit and hyperactivity issues. didnt think abt that until i read this comment lol
Got motor tic disorder; not Tourette’s but similar on a smaller scale. (Officially, professionally diagnosed by a psychiatrist with a degree in a well known clinic) Mainly it’s sudden and harsh twitching and jerking for me. I don’t understand why anyone would want to pretend to have such.. it’s not fun. I personally find it embarrassing and awkward if in public or around people I’m not familiar with. The thought of someone faking this for clout is almost sad.
I wish it was illegal to claim any form of mental illness without a diagnosis like imagine if there was a charge for it how many people would stop faking it…
And people who self diagnose disorders or mental illness make me sick to my stomach. I have medical documentation and consistent check ups and medications it's a pain, it's expensive and annoying.
Kind of a weird question, but what do your twitches feel like? I have occasional twitches, usually 1-4 times a day. They feel like a sudden wave of coldness spreading over my body for a second, and are usually my head jerking to the side, my whole body tensing up, my arm quickly twitching, etc. I get head rushes too, usually once or twice a day. Very rarely, (as in like in twice in the last 3 years) I'll get a head-rush that turns into full-body shaking, where the cold waves just keep coming for a solid minute and my vision goes dark. (It looks like when you stare into a light for too long and you get those blurry splotches but they cover my sight for a solid minute and I can't see a thing.) Does that happen to you? I've been wanting to get a doctor's appointment, but my mom keeps missing dates or forgetting or whatever so I've kinda just turned to the internet to help :[
@@LEEMUR3058 Definitely could be something. For me I usually says it’s like getting the “chills”, so it’s probably pretty similar to yours. There’s a shiver followed by a tic most of the time. That, or just loss of control, your body reacts out if nowhere without warning. Kinda like there’s someone forcing you out of place. I’ve seen plenty of vision defects which could be a symptom of many things. Pretty sure they’re called “floaters”. I believe there are some medications for tics, but everything has a side effect. Try to get in touch with a doctor if it’s what you wish, and don’t worry about what other people think (in case that bugs you) just laugh it off. Help is 100% out there though, and always will be.
@Chill Chicken - When you have the character disorder Munchausen syndrome, you'll fake having an illness of any sort for pity points and attention. It's disgusting. It's along the same lines as most people who are "trans-abled", who are people I will _gladly_ help become truly disabled if I ever met them in person. I have Sjögren's syndrome, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, and other comorbid disorders, along with PCOS and depression. Seeing people fake disorders like this does nothing but enrage me, and they deserve all the hate they get.
Like 8 yrs ago tumblr popularized the idea of putting your age, race, every single mental illness/physical illness you might have and trauma in your bio.
it’s weird how creators who don’t fake an illness get called out on ‘faking it’ but the ones who r actually faking it dont get as much hate for it as the ones who aren’t faking it :/
This girl named molly Burke is blind and people accuse her constantly of faking it because she uses a phone and is independent. It’s horrible. Like she’s obviously blind and is diagnosed she even has filmed herself going to her eye appointment. I hate when people accuse obviously real people of faking it. And then seemingly accept a faker.
Probably because people faking it are seeing it as something "quirky" and project an idealized version of the disorder to their viewers, who end up believing it over the actual disorder and fiding the real one "weird and annoying"...
I don’t think anyone should be hated for being assumed to fake something. The ones who do fake need help. The ones who don’t will feel awful and might not have someone safe to talk to about it. Sorry I guess I’m just so nice or something. Idk. Sorry
Ticcing Together is a great channel to stay informed on Tourette’s syndrome she has reacted to ticsandroses before, knowing they are debunked a fraud but she informs people on stuff like predominant hand movements and gestures that come with tics and how some of the tics would be acceptable as tics but in a different situation for obvious reasons. She has a very soft spoken voice and tries her best to explain everything knowledgeably even with having Tourette’s syndrome. Just FYI. :)
As one who has been diagnosed with Tourette’s since the age of 8, I can attest that tics are in fact random and differ from person to person. HOWEVER, a tic is constant and repetitive, and usually is the copy of an EXACT action, therefore, it’s easier to see who is faking having Tourette’s. Obviously its very tough, as someone can just have a different severity of Tourette’s, but the girl in this video who got exposed very obviously faked her tics, as they tended to differ and change between each video, rather than stick around for a longer amount of time
I have a few issues that have caused me to have issues with neck twitching and convulsions(?) That look a lot like tics, but they're not tourettes or anything like that. I feel like just looking at this person you can see it's not an involuntary movement, like the muscles aren't moving the way they should when you have a true motor issue... despicable...
@@michaelavanmosseveld1281ticsnroses actually triggers my tics...there are a couple she does like the repetitive "wow" that gets me going a bit. Even though I know she's faking it all.
The way social media has completely changed how we go about things is insane. Not even 100 years ago people would hide away or abandon their own family if they had something as common as depression but today people are literally faking mental illnesses just to put them online to get attention
So true! I've watched many documentaries on that stuff. Mothers would give there children up for fear of being ridiculed or talked about (which is crazy). Poor kids, back in the day.
i have mental illness but i’m not on social media specifically because i’m wary that you can get a following just for having a mental illness. it makes me uncomfortable because i worry people aren’t seeing the awareness elements but more looking at us like an internet freakshow. the people who fake it just want their 15 minutes of fame and don’t understand what it’s like to not get to “turn off” that part of your living experience. idk, lots of feelings abt it
People used to have self respect and shame was still a thing. Now we celebrate mental illness, we have People chopping off body parts willingly because they feel a little girly at the moment.
As someone who actually has tourettes I find it absolutely insane that someone would fake something like that. I was lucky enough to not have a serious case of tourettes my ticks come and go. Its super easy to tell when someone is faking.
The first one is real I know her personally and every time we are with each other or she's around our family there is never a time where she doesn't tick and her mom showed the diagnosis😊 also keep living
You mean “she”? She clearly is mentally ill and acts like she’s a they/them for attention and to be different. Frankly most “non binary” people are the same way. They so desperately want to be different. It’s pathetic. It’s their entire personality.
I think it’s especially disturbing that other disabled people/people with disorders will think they found representation for themselves and feel happy to have people to relate to, but then find out all along it was just creators using your disorder to get attention and money.
At my old job, I had a regular customer with Tourette's... She'd often yelled/screeched very loudly when she tics. No words, just noises. So, loud to the point it would echo within the big store. One time she startled me, and I felt bad i was startled by it. She was so apologetic. I've always been a jumpy person. I startle easy. She would forget that she told me she has Tourette's before because she has to explain herself to everyone around her so often, that she forgets who she has told. So many people would look at her. Like, to the point they stop what they're doing to look over at her or walk to the isle she was in to get a better view of what or where the sound came from. She would apologize and let everyone around her know she has Tourette's. Usually up to 5 people or more looking at her puzzled and confused, every time she made these loud noises. I actually felt sad for her. That must be so hard to live with. If this girl in the video is faking...that is messed up. Tbh, to me it doesn't look real. The tics seem too controlled but I'm no dr. So, I can't say either way. But if she is, there are people that really suffer with this condition, and it shouldn't be mocked.
@@NathanHedglin yeah i think it's most often noises. I don't claim to know a lot about it or know what it's like but I'm guessing its similar to when a chill goes up your spine and you let out a BRRR sound. That kind of impulse but manifest differently of course.
I really like Sweet Anita. She’s just so adorable you wanna hug her. It blew me away that people were always attacking her because of the words that she would say in her tics...like the N word. You watch her and it’s amazingly obvious she isn’t lying. My younger brother has Tourette’s, but he has been incredibly lucky, kind of. He had it really bad as a kid and was mercilessly bullied and made fun of in school which completely wrecked his self esteem...but his tics have slowly gotten so much better as he’s aged, at this point most people wouldn’t know he had it from a short conversation. But honestly, I’d say for whatever reason, he’s improved 1,000% from where he was when first diagnosed.
The people in Sweet Anita’s twitch comments keep trying to provoke her tics so that she’ll say/do stuff that greets her cancelled. :( I wish she had moderators to watch over her comment section.
@@bigbeng6041 ohh edit: I’m glad she gets a pass. But that still doesn’t mean the chat should be allowed to bully her and trigger her ticks on purpose (and get away with it too).
The biggest thing for me that shows the first girls isn't faking is it seems most of her content isn't extremely focused on her disorder. She seems to just enjoy making content and that's just something she has to deal with
What's your view then? Like, I don't mean to be rude, but what do you think about these? Are they real? Obviously you don't have to answer but it would be interesting to see someone who has to deal with it's perspective.
@@beastpatriots9569 at my first view of her tiktoks, I felt doubtful because of how forced and jerky they were. My tics usually happen under the course of 10 seconds. So her ticking multiple times under the course of 3, obviously gave it away. I felt furious when I found out she’d been faking it. I hate dealing with it and watching her using it for marketing disgusted me. I couldn’t image someone faking a syndrome I have to put up with every day and poking fun at it.
Hi I was diagnosed with tourettes in 2009 and if anyone was wondering, tourettes can change/alternate with age. They can get better, get worse, or stay the same. With me they personally, they became way less extreme once I wasn't taking any meds / and am older. Mine (personally) was worse when I was in elementary and early middle school. If anyone has questions I'd be more than happy to answer. I also am thinking about making a video about the misconceptions on it. (Where I will also provide paperwork)
It seems that only extreme cases like when people yell out things and when people who are just seeking attention are the stories that are popular. It makes people who are undiagnosed/misdiagnosed feel very isolated. Sharing your story can potentially help a lot of people.
Now people can't say whether a person has an illness or faking it. All that has illness are suffering and bullied for some ridiculous reasons and people that faking it just fakes an illness for clout. What a world we live in...
Yeah it makes me so mad. I was bullied for having adhd in elementary school and a little bit in middle school, and seeing people PRETEND to have it for attention is just... I have no words.

I am diagnosed with Tourrettes Syndrome and I avoided going to a neurologist and getting the official diagnosis because I was genuinely afraid I'd be accused of being fake.. because of TikTok, which I don't even have. It's so disheartening to see someone fake what I struggle with all day every day, faking it terribly, may I add.
I have FND! I’ve been recently diagnosed just over a year ago, however I started having issues that we initially thought were seizures or results of migraines around January 2013. The tics I’ve developed just over a year ago though have been the worst and coping with having this new issue has left me felt embarrassed and suffering with physical pain. Seeing people with tics tends to set them off as well as a lack of sleep and stress. As thankful as I am that it isn’t epilepsy, I do wish it was something I had that I could just take a pill and not worry about it. The VA just tod me that it’s not curable for me and that cognitive therapy was the best they could offer to help. Cognitive therapy did help how it affected my mental health but I wish it didn’t affect me.
I also have FND! I was diagnosed last year. Also have had epilepsy since 1996. I started having tics after a concussion I got from going headfirst onto the concrete. They do stop if I'm focusing on something, but it I'm just sitting at home by myself feeling bored or stressed, I'm often turning my head, sniffing, turning and biting my tongue my and making a "C" sound. It's super annoying. I'm glad my tics aren't super bad, but in very stressful times they get pretty obvious.
@@emmakorhonen Hey Emma! Have you had to go through cognitive therapy or what treatment options have been offered to you? What’s been the greatest struggle with your symptoms? Getting brain surgery sounds terrifying! Thanks for the insight. Faking a disorder that people like you have to deal with for clout is reprehensible...
As a person with Tourettes I feel like people who don't have it complain about it more than people like us who actually do have it (I have no verbal ticks but I see alot of people fake a Tourettes whistle more than anything else though)

I know this chick that screams at random times. Can't say if she's faking it or not, who knows On the other hand, someones tick is apparently screaming the n word in my class as well Humans are strange creatures
I have had that same freakin throat tick. I used to hold my breath during tests when I was in school because I didn’t want to draw attention to myself. Hearing that sound coming from someone else actually makes me feel less crazy.
I had a coworker with Tourette's a few years back and that was her primary tic (or at least the one she didn't suppress at work), so that's another person!
I had a psychologist write I was a "pleasant patient" in the history part. Also he used Word to write my report, which looks like I wrote it myself. I'm not defending her, but sometimes the paperwork you get from health professionals can look like that
It's infuriating to see things like tourettes, ptsd, depression, autism, all these things be faked for attention & in order to substitute a lack of personality. I see them on Instagram all the time. If it was just for clout I wouldn't care as much but often these people go doctor shopping, basically once a doctor tells them there's nothing wrong they go to the next, wasting time and resources that could've gone to people who need it.

I'm not saying that she's not lying, but I will say, as a medical coder, it's extreeeeeemely common for a provider to start a note out with something along the lines of "very pleasant 54 y/o African American woman presents today...". I see it all the time.
Agreed, my doctor wrote "he is a very sociable and pleasant 22 year old" on one of my exams. My GF is a PA and she said it is to let other doctors know about your demeanor at the time of the exam. Kind of like a baseline. So if you are acting very very different than before, it *may* be a symptom or something to look into. Although it's usually drastic changes in demeanor that instigate further investigation.
I dated a girl with Tourette’s, when she had a tick she never realized and it was consistent. No who actually has it will ever say sorry or anything like that.
Sweet Anita has Tourette's and will regularly apologise for her tics if she's with someone else, so I don't think your statement is entirely true for everyone with Tourette's
You’ve met one person with it and you’re making generalizations about every single person with it? I appreciate what you’re trying to do but you can’t meet one person with it and then say “absolutely no one with Tourette’s will do [x]”
My eye lid twitches sometimes maybe I got a disability. I'm kidding people need to stop faking stuff. I've dealt with enough manipulators and liars or pathological liars and sociopaths or psychopaths it's so bad. It's getting to the point I'm losing faith in humanity cause it seems this is happening more and more. People only looking out for themselves.
I have severe anxiety. When I'm having panic attacks or don't take my meds on time, I get anxiety tics. It's so tiring trying to stop head twitching or loudly "ooooop" or tongue clicking, which only makes it worse. Sometimes it's funny but most of the time it's super embarrassing, not to mention sometimes painful when my head starts jerking too hard.
In one of my diagnoses papers, my doctor wrote me down as married (im not). In another one, they wrote that my mom has a sister (she doesn't). Lol, sometimes doctors do mess up. I was so frustrated when I saw all the mistakes in my paperwork, I thought I was dreaming.
I have FND and "functional tics" and lots of Drs call them fake because they can be caused by lots of environmental factors/trauma but even PTSD is considered "real" so 🤷
Anyone who uses their mental illness for internet clout automatically makes me suspicious. I don't care what channel tries to say it's legit, I want to see a diagnosis from an actual doctor. I also don't understand why these people would want to put it on the internet or why they get followers for it.
You are not entitled to the medical documents of disabled people. If you don't like hearing us talk about our lived experiences, stay off of our social media profiles and mind your own business. Just because there are fakers like Emerald out there doesn't mean you're automatically entitled to the private medical information of every single disabled person who uses social media and talks about their day to day life as a disabled person.
I hold a special grudge against people who fake having mental illnesses/mental disabilities because I literally have autism, ADHD, scoliosis, and a breathing condition. At first, it was nice when autism was growing popular on tiktok, and people were coming out with some of their unique experiences whilst having it. But, then, people just started self diagnosing themselves, acting like having autism was quirky and cute. Autism is NOT quirky and cute. I suffer a lot because of my autism. Some of the worst experiences of my life are linked with my autism. Like, having one of the worst meltdowns of my life at SCHOOL, and nobody helped me and just looked at me strangely. Having sensory issues are the worst thing in the world. I hate it so much. I don’t understand why people so desperately want to be disabled, or mentally ill.
I call BS on doctors making notes about patients being left-handed. I'm left-handed. No medical professional has ever asked if I am, and I have never, in my entire life, been able to get a shot or blood-draw without telling the doctor or nurse ahead of time that I'm left-handed. If I don't, they'll automatically assume that I'm right-handed and aim that needle straight for my left arm.
i have tics from a myriad of motor function disorders, i’ve had someone “fake” in front of me… the only people who should speculate are people who actually suffer from tics, but it’s always so. obvious.
I am blessed with ADHD and have a touch of the tism. I hate seeing that some people want these kinds of disorders. Like if you have a brain without any disorders, you should be very happy with that. Not that you can't be depressed or even sad, but having no disorders is an asset, not a liability. I hope this trend of faking mental illness stops soon.
I agree. I don't think there's been a day of my life I haven't wanted to get rid of my disorders/conditions. People who fake problems make no sense to me. I only really understand cases w Munchausen
Previous medical scribe here! It's actually very common in neurology consults to include handedness in the HPI, as lots of doctors use the phrase "very pleasant" as well. Not that it matters because it still appears to be fake 🤔
I've seen loads of medical letters between GPs and specialists (used to work in a local surgery) and it's incredibly common to have some description of the patient's demeanour listed in the first sentence. Sometimes they're not even positive; I've seen things like "tearful", "weepy", "disgruntled", and even one instance of "shivery" in relation to an absolutely lovely older woman (and the doctor subsequently made a note on her chart to see her in their warmest exam room for any further appointments, which the patient was grateful for). So while it does sound weird to have a doctor describe a patient's demeanour during an appointment or consultation, it isn't unusual in the slightest.
I love it when Caleb randomly does the Southern accent. Also, I didn't notice an accent on the first girl. The only people with an accent here are the Americans 😂
I like the fact that the girl in the beginning talked about them getting worse/developing because I get people thinking in faking cause it wasnt as bad before and they rarel or never saw me tic because in the past year its developed quite a lot
So... faking depression for attention makes you "not-like-the-others" but faking Tourette's is a bad thing.... where is the line between illnesses that are cool to fake and illnesses that are immoral to fake?
ive known about ticsandroses for a while now, and as a person with diagnosed tourettes its very frustrating. but I do want to add obviously what ticsandroses was doing was very wrong and disgusting but still important you respect their gender identity. no matter how idiotic they are, emerald uses they/them (just as someone who is nonbinary its quite frustrating hearing someone misgendering someone)
This is when being on the “early internet” comes in handy. When I was younger I followed a couple people with Tourette’s way before faking for clout was rampant. You really get to know them and the condition. I knew the first time I saw Emerald that she was faking it.

FYI putting 'a pleasant so-and-so' isn't uncommon for doctors when they FIRST meet a person, though it usually isn't put into the history section. I trained for medical transcription--no doctor types their notes, they record them and send them to transcriptionists--and saying, 'Jane Doe is a pleasant 20-year-old who is presenting today for...' is common. Again, first visits primarily.

It's beyond me that TikTok managed to make mental illness and depression into a personality traits

Like 8 yrs ago tumblr popularized the idea of putting your age, race, every single mental illness/physical illness you might have and trauma in your bio.
FACTS THO
it’s weird how creators who don’t fake an illness get called out on ‘faking it’ but the ones who r actually faking it dont get as much hate for it as the ones who aren’t faking it :/
This girl named molly Burke is blind and people accuse her constantly of faking it because she uses a phone and is independent. It’s horrible. Like she’s obviously blind and is diagnosed she even has filmed herself going to her eye appointment.
I hate when people accuse obviously real people of faking it. And then seemingly accept a faker.
Probably because people faking it are seeing it as something "quirky" and project an idealized version of the disorder to their viewers, who end up believing it over the actual disorder and fiding the real one "weird and annoying"...
this is literally how i think when it comes to people who fake mental disorders vs. people who really have it
I don’t think anyone should be hated for being assumed to fake something.
Just FYI. :)
Thanks for the recommendation!
Yea, Ticcing Together is really great, so I also reccommed peoole to go watch her. Because you will learn a lot about Tourettes that way.
I just found her recently and have loved her content!!
She’s actual genuinely diagnosed with Tourette’s it’s so easy to see how tics and roses is faking when I watched ticcing together
Will comment so I will hopefully remember to look this up in the future
Being around others with Tourette's also brings out my tics, generally if someone's faking it my tics don't do anything.. idk if that's just me tho

As a person with Tourettes i find it incredibly offensive that people are faking it, and they should all be banned from tik tok
The first one is real I know her personally and every time we are with each other or she's around our family there is never a time where she doesn't tick and her mom showed the diagnosis😊 also keep living
i will never forgive tics and roses for what they did, literally played with people's feelings
You mean “she”? She clearly is mentally ill and acts like she’s a they/them for attention and to be different. Frankly most “non binary” people are the same way. They so desperately want to be different. It’s pathetic. It’s their entire personality.
They're not only doing that, but making a mockery of people with actual conditions that cause tics, and making money off of that. It's infuriating
I can't believe her mum even joined in on it
I think it’s especially disturbing that other disabled people/people with disorders will think they found representation for themselves and feel happy to have people to relate to, but then find out all along it was just creators using your disorder to get attention and money.
Well to be fair I don't think any one of us with Tourette's ever felt any relation or representation with tics n roses hahaha
Words are pretty rare actually. Less than 10% of those with Tourettes say words
@@NathanHedglin yeah i think it's most often noises. I don't claim to know a lot about it or know what it's like but I'm guessing its similar to when a chill goes up your spine and you let out a BRRR sound. That kind of impulse but manifest differently of course.
As someone with tourettes, i can confirm it is fake
@@parkchimmin7913 well, yeah but I think she's said basically everything you can say, but gets a pass by twitch because of her condition

6:56 If a person with tourettes is ticking every 1-3 seconds, that's a "tic attack" and is extremely painful and uncomfortable. basically...if she actually had tourettes and she was having a tic attack, SHE SHOULDNT HAVE BEEN DRIVING😤 plus if someone's tics are that bad, there are medications that can help, they're uncommon and expensive but they exist.

Not that it matters because it still appears to be fake 🤔
She’s faking it for attention because her parents never gave her any.

I hate being so tired that I can't even do what the bare minimum is for the able bodied
Wow what a great audience!
I have autism, anxiety. Deppresion, and anxiety tics, and quite a few cronic illneses, it is DISCUSTING the people faking things. I wish i had NONE of these. Most of may family also has these, its genetical, and NONE of my family wants any of it

Again, first visits primarily.
their tt bio says that their pronouns are they/them why do people keep calling them she/her
Because she's a female 🤦
as someone who actually has been medically diagnosed with tourettes, going on tiktok and seeing people faking it is so painful😕
