  • Today we take a look at a new GMRS radio from Retevis the NR30. This radio offers impressive features including IP67 Water Proofing (which we test in the video), up to 10 Watts of output and built in Noise Cancelling with Group Call. I want to thank Retevis for sending us this radio to review and show them some love by picking up a Retevis NR30 for yourself in the links below.

    Definitely going to give this one a look for GMRS - Glad to see that it's actually IP67 so I'm looking forward to grabbing one!

      Agreed I was pleasantly surprised to see the Pogo pin design. This should be standard IMHO. Glad you liked the review!

    What ear piece is used with this radio? Is it a Motorola type pin connector or other? Great video by the way.

      The same as the Ailunce HD1. It’s the same “Retevis” pin out.

    If anyone wants to turn off the CTCSS privacy tones in their #RetevisNR30, you can do it manually without using the software. This will allow you to hear others when they are transmitting.
    The following is the procedure:
    1) Turn radio off
    2) Press transmit and the little button with (2) nubs below the transmit button at the same time
    3) While holding those buttons down, turn the radio on (it will make the 'on' sound) but keep holding those buttons until you hear a beep. Release the two buttons.
    4) At this point all the privacy tones will be disabled until you repeat this same process to turn them back on.
    5) Basically it is the same as selecting or de-selecting the checkbox in the software
    6) Hope this helps

    So with this model Retevis says that the preprogrammed CTCSS/DCS Codes can be turned off, thus "opening" RECEPTION. Question: does the procedure also turn off the CTCSS/DCS Codes for TRANSMISSION as well ? If not, I'll just wait a couple months for the Ailunce HA1G to be out (that's the same radio but with a keypad and a few extras)

    • @offgrid.technology
      @offgrid.technology  11 місяців тому +1

      Yes they do cancel all codes. I would hold off though we have an H1AG coming from Retevis for review. Should be up this weekend or early next week.

      UA-cam didn't notify me of you reply... thank you. And I already have one of the HA1Gs and quite like it. I'm hoping that spare batteries are going to be available.

    Why didn't you do a power test on repeater inputs 467 Mhz? That is too important to exclude.

    I'm looking for 2way communication for about 20 employees on a hospital campus in the city.
    These are sold in pairs from what i can find.
    Do they all communicate with each other out of the box?
    The configuration you did near the end had me concerned as I'm not familiar with why you were programming the radio

    • @offgrid.technology
      @offgrid.technology  11 місяців тому +1

      Yes they do out of the box work. You don’t need to program it’s optional.

      Not this one but Retevis does have a HAM UHF model that you can. Look for the NR630. www.retevis.com/nr630-noise-reduction-high-power-waterproof-uhf-radio-us

      You can change power levels with one of the side buttons on the radio. Low (around .75w)/med (around 5w)/high (around 10w)...the actual power will vary by radio and which specific frequency you're using from what I've seen. You'll get one beep for low, 2 beeps for med, 3 beeps for high.

    GMRS requires a license good for 10 years. MURS is licensed by rule which doesn't require a payed license.

    Guess you didn't get the memo Old Hickory parent company Ontario knives has gone out of business. If you want them get 'em quick.
    The Retevis radios are being shipped misconfigured and need to be reprogrammed for wide instead of narrow and high power instead of low as well as changing squelch. Those stock ant. suck.
    They have a set of 3 for $26 Retevis RB27V MURS Radios on AMZN. Get programming cords for your radios.
