Hi Rajan, you've possibly read this: www.mbacrystalball.com/blog/2012/11/26/gmat-mba-indian-army-officers/ The best way to select the right field is by doing your own research. Start off by looking at what an MBA syllabus covers. Then get in touch with professionals from a few of those fields. Over time you'll get an idea of what you'd like to pursue.

Your piercing insights and right to the bone analysis, inspires me and motivates me and makes me aware and assess and critique things from a detached perspectives. However, my question is a bit of odds and sodds in a much more silly manner, but I guess you've always had those. Here it goes. I'm in the midst of preparing for CAT, However if a good score doesn't workout for me, should I work(I'm a fresher) who's jumped the ship after my graduation in Management Studies to Sound Engineering and now I'm thinking of returning to claim what I believe is my ambitious little dream of being a leader and a learner and a go getter. What would you recommend me to do? My target college apart from IIM's is MICA. Do recommend and help me find my way back, it would be much appreciated.
Seems like we missed the question that followed the compliments! Apologies for that. If you don't get a good CAT score and a good (IIM / MICA) admit, it would be better to work for a few years and build a professional profile with some notable accomplishments. There are plenty of excellent opportunities to think about with more experience. Good luck!

Hi Sameer, Needed your opinion on my profile suitability for HBS/Wharton for 2nd MBA. I have done my B.Tech from VIT with 8.1 CGPA and MBA from IIM Ahmedabad(99.6 percentile CAT) and 2.9 CGPA with decent scores in 10th and 12th(87.4 and 87.2% respectively) Post MBA, I worked with Hotstar as a Data Scientist for 4 years and now working with Amazon Hyderabad as a senior Data Scientist. I will be shifting to Seattle with Amazon mostly by Sep/Oct. I am targeting to apply to Top 3 B-Schools by 2021 after strengthening my profile and some clarity on my SOP(Plus financing my education costs). Before reaching out to you for personal guidance, I wanted to get GMAT out of the picture by targeting 760+ in next couple of months. Needed your opinion on whether the plan looks doable or have you encountered such profiles in the past for double MBA? Much appreciated.
Hi Ravi, yes we've worked with IIM A/B/C grads for a second MBA. Some things to keep in mind. 1. Purely from the designation, it seems like it's a highly technical role. Make sure you present the non-technical aspects of your profile too. 2. Since you already have an MBA, and many years of work experience, the more you delay your application, the further you'll move from the median stats for the class, making it (statistically) tougher to fit in. Are your primarily pushing the application date because of the Seattle opportunity?
I don't know but the video seems to be biased. Now look at some facts MBA in abroad:- Average tution fee 90000$ for one year that's 63 lakh INR for only one year, it easily crosses the one crore mark Average rent for accommodation in metropolitan area 6000$ a year. Food = 5000$ a year. Clothes, materials, internet, subscription and what not 10000$ a year. Visa complexities, permits to travel from one state to the other. At least 5-6 years of experience mostly hiring students who are well above 30. And average package 100000$ GMAT 500$ with international level competition with even less preference to Indian students. MBA in India Tution fee 220000 INR Food, clothes, internet, everything provided in campus by IIM. CAT Score 99 percentile. Average package 260000 INR. Preference to Indian students. Middle class students when come to India of 30+ of age with over a crore of debt who don't even get employment in top firms. Damn I remember the article on HT times. IIMs just break the neck of American institutes fro Indian students. Only people who can get the most of an MBA in US are the Americans themselves.
Thanks for sharing this perspective, Furkan. You're right in highlighting the financial risk. An international MBA doesn't work for everyone. In fact, we have published a whole book on the points you've raised. What we mention in this video is an opinion, and opinions will always be biased. Sir but pursuing MBA abroad is too expensive & how can a person pay such enormous amount, therefore Indians prefer to pursue MBA in India itself. Because they can't carry the burden of huge debt(loan).
Hi Babusingh, you are right. Not everyone can afford an international MBA because of the costs. Which is why we've made the recommendation based on the condition that the applicant needs to weigh the risks (including financial, personal, professional) and move ahead only if they are comfortable with each. If not, for students who are clear about what they want from the degree, a good MBA in India can be a great investment too.

If you're planning for an international MBA (after a few years), check out how specialisations work: ua-cam.com/video/I0Mx0E-iyNg/v-deo.html Instead of committing to one area, you can take electives in multiple areas to customise your learning.
@@gunjanyadav2691 before u decide ur specialisation u need to know what ur goal is... 1) you want to be an entrepreneur in ur area of knowledge 2) you want to secure a job in this field only. If you are just looking to increase ur options then u are on the wrong path.. because then you become part of the crowd and u become replacable. If you want to open ur own startup or work in a managerial position then MBA general would be good. If you want to particularly work in your field then pharma would be good. Also, if u think like a company u will have ur answer. Employees are like products to them. So for eg. We buy patatoes in bulk and but melons or paneer or costly stuff- we check them thoroughly and give a good price....so if you choose to do pharma, ur actually increasing your chances of getting a job because u are tailored for tht position and how many many others do you know who have done tht specialisation? Also, if you choose to do MBA general, then even then u need to narrow down the kind of jobs and roles u want, ur area of interest, ur reason for doing general MBA. Decision making is hard but if you are wishy washy about ur Goals and have no specific plans... then only those kind of generic opportunities will come to you. Taking a few calculated risk will help land better opportunities. start looking at companies and jobs n positions tht u like, understand their requirement...do deep research and decide on your OWN. No one can tell you what to choose they can only tell you facts...and u have to use tht fact to decide. In the end, don't be potato..be melon.(or whatever fruit u like).

Hi Sameer I am a graduate from IIT Kanpur and I have been working with a British bank for the last two years(Although on the tech side). I want to do an MBA but I am really confused if that would be the best step forward in my career. I really love tech and want to stay in a tech company(more on the business side) even after completing MBA, I don't wanna do it in India as I already make around the same ballpark so doing an MBA in India just seems like a waste, I don't wanna do MS because that means I will be stuck forever on the tech side. So I have come to the conclusion the I will aim for an MBA in schools which also has a strong engineering background, like MIT or CMU, I don't know if that makes sense.
Sure, it makes sense, Raj. One tip - before taking the plunge into the international MBA waters, it might be helpful to wait for a year or two more. See if the additional experience gives you more clarity on how your interests evolve, where you want to take your career. And whether you start enjoying a balance between hard-core tech work and getting involved in some business aspects.

If you've just graduated, we'd suggest waiting for a few years and gaining some work experience before you decide on the next degree. Jumping in without having the basic clarity will only make matters worse.
True. The reason is that the Indian MBA ecosystem (including recruitment process) has been built around the traditional 2-year MBA model. And that system still continues to churn out the bulk of MBA grads who join at fresher level positions. Most employers still don't have an HR process that can absorb and train experienced folks.

Well said.... But Most of The Candidate Join College from Parents Pressure, Society Influence, To Show off Their Degree/Marks. So In Between They Forget About The Real Reason, Getting Skills.
One More Reason is Lack Exposure To Work Place & Industry Attitude From Colleges.

Algorithms and bots have finally got me to this channel, which as a Jazz fan I'd say is the Perfect Charlie Parker in terms of grace, quality to other Educational content on MBA. Your use of music as a Sound engineer is very soothing and perfect and it plays out and conducts itself properly like a symphony.
What a phenomenal comment, Harsh! Your feedback is music to our ears. Thank you.
Good luck!
Indeed an amazing video .
Want a suggestion. ...I'm a Company Secretary (CS studied from ICSI) shall I think of pursuing MBA or LLB. Which one would add value to my existing degree ?
Depends on where you want to take your career. For business roles in a range of industries and functions, an MBA would help. LLB is more niche.

Hi Sameer,
Needed your opinion on my profile suitability for HBS/Wharton for 2nd MBA.

Post MBA, I worked with Hotstar as a Data Scientist for 4 years and now working with Amazon Hyderabad as a senior Data Scientist.
Now look at some facts
MBA in abroad:- Average tution fee 90000$ for one year that's 63 lakh INR for only one year, it easily crosses the one crore mark
Average rent for accommodation in metropolitan area 6000$ a year.
Food = 5000$ a year.
Clothes, materials, internet, subscription and what not 10000$ a year.
Visa complexities, permits to travel from one state to the other.
At least 5-6 years of experience mostly hiring students who are well above 30.
And average package 100000$
GMAT 500$ with international level competition with even less preference to Indian students.
MBA in India
Tution fee 220000 INR
Food, clothes, internet, everything provided in campus by IIM.
Could you help me?
If you're planning for an international MBA (after a few years), check out how specialisations work: ua-cam.com/video/I0Mx0E-iyNg/v-deo.html
Instead of committing to one area, you can take electives in multiple areas to customise your learning.
Sir,what you are suggesting is that I should go for general mba as I have more options and opportunities in that?
And also Sir, I want to pursue my mba from india only.
@@gunjanyadav2691 before u decide ur specialisation u need to know what ur goal is...
1) you want to be an entrepreneur in ur area of knowledge
2) you want to secure a job in this field only.

I am a graduate from IIT Kanpur and I have been working with a British bank for the last two years(Although on the tech side).

In India, having a high work exp. can backfire you. Many companies here prefer hiring freshers compared to work exp guys, the reason I dont know.
True. The reason is that the Indian MBA ecosystem (including recruitment process) has been built around the traditional 2-year MBA model. And that system still continues to churn out the bulk of MBA grads who join at fresher level positions. Most employers still don't have an HR process that can absorb and train experienced folks.

Problem is there is no growth, professionally and financially!! If I do MBA or executive MBA from from top B School in India, would I have any professional and financial upliftment in Pharmaceutical and healthcare industry ??
Please suggest!!
Regards
Dr S R Chaudhuri
An MBA or EMBA can give you a wide-ranging exposure to business ideas and concepts, but it won't give you the experience that many recruiters would be looking for. Which means there are no guarantees even after an MBA.
How's University business school Chandigarh?will it provide gud god.
Our focus is on international business schools.
Sir I have done MBA in Agribusiness from india. As of now I also have 2 years of work ex. I am planning to go abroad and work in the field of agribusiness, but I am unsure about the country. Would like to seek your assistance on it. Thank you.
Most students going abroad end up working in popular industries such as consulting, finance, technology since they are the ones that are more open to sponsoring work permits. We're not too sure about the scope of agribusiness after graduating from the reputed programs, since bschools don't mention about niche placements.

Hi Sameer, I am a CA and CFA with 5 years of experience in portfolio valuation. Should I go for MBA Executive or MBA abroad?
What's your career goal - in terms of industry, role and geography? The answers to those will influence what you should choose.
@@MBACrystalBall Right now I am into portfolio valuations and I want to move into IB\PE roles. I am 30 right now and can take a break for a 2 year MBA program too in India.
2 primary reason for MBA: To gain that MBA life experience with higher pay. Right now confused between 2 year or 1 year MBA or MBA from abroad.
If I go for 2 year MBA in India, will my experience of 5-6 year be an hinderance at the time of placements??
You'll be an outlier for Indian 2-year programs like IIMs. One year MBA in India may work better. But after 30, it is always riskier.
@@MBACrystalBall so what about MBA abroad?
You can check out the 1-year MBA programs in UK/EU.
How is tepper school of business for product management ? And how much is fees for it ?
It's a pretty solid option for product management given the parent universities strong tech roots. You'll find the fee details on their website.
@@MBACrystalBall it's $70k per year, it's too expensive and no definite scholarships also,
which iim do you think is best for product management ?
We've worked with folks who've managed to get substantial scholarships from Tepper. Give it a shot and see, if you are serious about it. Indian 1 year MBA programs don't generally have that kind of a focus, being shorter in duration and relatively newer.
@@MBACrystalBall can I get your email id or telegram Id, anything I can contact you
And Indian mba from IIM are 2 years (PGP course)
And how much scholarships can one get ?
For informal queries, you can continue posting here. We don't focus on PGP courses. Scholarships can go up to 100%.
what about MBA from Germany? Is it a good option?
We have a separate video on MBA in Germany where we cover a lot of details. Check it out.
Studying mba in public university will be worth from abroad❓or it is useless
Check its ranking and placement stats to get an idea of how the market values it.
Nice video, thanks for the video actually. I have done diploma in mechanical engineering then after many years because of some down situation in life I have started working & did BA with public administration just wanted get degree so I can do MBA . 2 years back I have done BA & working as a sales & Marketing Manager. Now I'm not ready for any entrance exam & looking for some external MBA ( marketing ) course.from where will be good for me? Please kindly suggest me some good one.
The general rule when it comes to MBA programs, is that the ones that skip entrance exams typically don't have the same market value. So don't jump in just because the program is making it easy to sign up.
Hii bro
mba is not valuable now a days in India and other countries
What is your opinion?
As with any degree, the value varies depending on where you get it from and when.

Sir, What if I get a good MBA college abroad and a good placement after completing MBA. But I want to settle back in India, What should I be doing?
There's no compulsion to stay back in the country where you study. Many come back to India after graduation.
@@MBACrystalBall after coming back to India should I search again for placements or will it be easy to get a job
@@rohithmothe2298 It's never easy to get good jobs, since the competition will always be high for such opportunities. You'll have to be very proactive and finding the right roles and applying.
@@MBACrystalBall so if we want to settle back in India then studying MBA abroad is a good choice or not ?
We answered that part in the final section of the video, along with the reasons. Do check it out.

Hey Sameer! Can you please tell what's a better option? MiM abroad, or MBA in india?
If an MBA abroad is not on the list, we'd pick an MiM abroad for the international exposure it provides.
