as my math teacher used to say show your work! solder and chats are nice and relaxing. i love it when you post longer videos. most people who want everything condensed apparently do not want to learn anything. you're an amazing source of knowledge, i for one love all the lil pointers you give like suitable replacement transistors and sutch. watching your videos had inspired me to built my own amp from scratch

PLEASE! Don't cut us out from all the hard work! Show us everything feasible. I reference your channel when expressing those sentiments on other electronic/audio repair channels. Many others just show the "results", not how they got there. Really - of what use is that? The reason we watch is to live vicariously through your problem solving and satisfaction of completion.
(We haven't forgotten how to fast forward.)

My brother is meticulous when rebuilding things, and I have found that I just don't have the patience to work on small things. I can bolt a carburetor on, but don't ask me to rebuild it. So I enjoy your being meticulous. Plus, it will smell better when you are done!

Adding some advise to the resistor subject: Metal film and carbon composite resistors in most cases fail with a short circuit on overload, fusable resistors are designed to fail open instead, which makes them the wrong choice as inrush current limiters like they are used here in the Sansui. But there is one critical position in power amplifier circuits where fusable resistors should definetely be used and replaced by the same type if broken: -the base resistors of power output transistors as they can prevent a domino effect. Fusable resistors can in this case prevent a failed output transistor to conduct the fault current back into the driver stages or in the worst case even back into the VAS.

It takes a tremendous amount of experience, knowledge and skill to repair/restore and improve electronic components WITH a schematic diagram. But to do it with a schematic that is incorrect and/or incomplete is mind blowing. Your skills are amazing Tony. Thanks for the fun 👍

Comparing the old components "value" to toenail clippings made me laugh! Good video Tony.

I’m good with a solder in chat episodes.
    Thanks, Tony

In my experience with Sansui, which is very extensive, the Schematics are fairly accurate, however those lists are not and should never be trusted. Even then, you need to do your due dillegence when compiling lists.
I replace Fusible resistors with metal oxide, and always mount them off the board a bit so if you have a circuit failure which burns the resistor up, it doesn't damage the circuit board.

If you haven't tried evaporust it works great to completely eat the rust and leave clean metal for painting. It uses chelation to chemically remove iron oxide. Cool stuff.

The video quality seems to have taken a big hit after your switch to your multi camera setup. I'm curious as to what has changed, but it seems like the contrast is exaggerated. Content is stellar as usual.

Great things in the vintage audio world. Hope some younger fellows are keeping up with all of it. Too bad they don't build new Sansui . I am biased, lol. These old amps seem to change the very atmosphere around a person when you listen to them. Thanks Tony.

Lookin forward to the rest. Do as it fits you, I will follow. BTW, the info on fr made me check and order from Mouser a bunch of different values because of lacking stock on my part. Thanks for your time, always interesting!

Hi Tony, I really like your work and presentation. I have learned a lot from you, and like that your a perfectionist. Thanks for all the hard work and great info. A thought about what paint to use on the transformer and other components. Have you ever tried epoxy spray paint it's much stronger it is resistant to chips and chemicals, I use it on automotive chassis components you can find it most auto parts stores. Thanks again

Hi tony, great videos as usual, but I agree with the other posters who say the video(optical) quality has taken a big hit recently. Focus is poor and it is very hard to make out the details of what you are explaining. You probably don't have time to ponder the quality when editing, but if you get time, please have a good look at tthis video with respect to clarity, it doesn't do the content justice.

Hi Tony, maybe an idea to repaint the transformer with Hammerite or with a wrinkle finish black? Kind greeting, John.

The BA-2000 is almost 50 YEARS OLD ! why are you so surprised that components like resistors, caps and transistors have reached their end of life and failed. It is to be expected
I don't think Sansui ever imagined these units would be around 50 years on.

Stating the obvious is to share one's knowledge and experience; not stating the obvious is to show one's knowledge and experience.

I am sure had Sansui intended for these amps to live over half a century, they would have started with much heavier duty components from the outset. It is good to keep things in perspective
