That must be fun! My old pony was like riding a broom stick when I rode bare back even with a bare back pad on I could still feel his pointy withers and bony back but my lesson pony was a Welsh pony and she was so fat I felt like I’m doing the splits when I first go on her but after a while she stared to feel like a really big couch
I ride ponys but I always loved drafts and now I am at a new stable in Riverdale and now only ride horses but they said that once I learn how to actually canter I will ride him(●’◡’●)ノ lol
I bought a Freisian/Percheron cross former Amish giving her a second chance. She stands 18 hands and is the sweetest, scars and all. I'm 5'2" and have to stand on the mounting block just to put on her bridle. We trail ride and she runs in the pasture...so heartwarming to see her happy! Thank you for the informative and funny videos! Hugs from Colorado 🙂
I have a Percheron, 17.2 hands. I ride almost every day….Once your leg muscles get used to it it’s very comfortable. You can ride long distance and they never get tired. A ton of fun!
Probably like an english saddle looked on a horse called 'Tiny' I used to ride. like an ant, lol. For context he was a Shire x, stood at 18.2hh without the saddle on. Not as wide as this boy though.
What a big, gentle teddy bear. Garth looks chill as a cucumber. Lol. I haven't ridden a draft horse myself, but I imagine it feels similar to riding on the outside of a train.
As someone who only rides drafts this cracks me up. The description is spot on. Their movements are big and you have to give them time to process your directions . They are so much fun ❤
I adore Garth!! I used to have the blessing of caring for 6 Clydesdale when I was young. They're remarkably sweet and willing and will cooperate with just about anyone❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This made me feel so much better about that there’s always an awkward learning curve when trying something new or different, no matter how much similar experience you have.
We had a half draft. He was the sweetest! Loved being rubbed and brushed. He did have an ornery side, but I would put a kid on him any day. Garth reminds me of him.
Draft horses are so much fun. Sure the quarterhorses and OTTB's will go fast, but nothing feels like a draft at canter/gallop. The power they have and you know they will be secure.
I am riding Oldenburg's horses here in Denmark. About the same size as Garth there. A friend of mine took me to the stable where she is a guide for tourists on horseback. I got curious and now I have been riding for 4 years. When I got professional riding lessons, I did not always know what she wanted me to do, but your videos has helped me very much, because you explain and show what my instructor doesn´t. She stands in the middle and just tell me what to do. I have not fallen off yet in those 4 years. But I love the movement of the big horses and would rather ride a big horse than a small horse. I feel more secure. Now I am a guide too and we ride in Denmark´s biggest forest. So if you ever come visit Denmark, then come visit us and have a nice tour in the forest at Rold Skov Bed & Breakfast and horseriding. Yesterday, for the first time, I went swimming with my boy in a lake. That was an amazing feeling!
Garth looks so sweet! My friend owns two Belgians one at 19hh and the other at 20 and we both ride. I agree it feels like the splits and their very different than a normal horse but they are the sweetest.
"A big horse" amuses me. Most of the horses I ride are well over 16hh. A couple over 17! I am 5'3". I have to reach over my head to groom their backs. 😂 I love drafties.
I got a new truck recently. It's big and learning to park, was interesting. But I love it. Climbing up on a taller horse is a challenge but the ride is glorious
Hi love your videos. Me and hubby rode heavys last Monday. I rode a 18.3 shire and he rode a 16+ Clydesdale. I got to do canter and trott a few times. Was amazing. We live in the UK so went to Cumbria to do this. Was amazing 😍
Aww, Garth has the cutest pink nose. Love it. I really like all your videos and esp ones you include Colin! Ride 'em cowboy!! You both look great on the Belgian. Cant wait to see more. How about Yoshi standing next to Garth?
I love thick horses, and Garth is adorable! It is a big change when you jump up on a big, wide horse. My ❤horse had Belgian somewhere in her history and she was a tank at 15hh. My current ride is a Halflinger and is another big girl...except she's short. Lol! I came back to horses in my mid 50s and I find I'm not as quick to jump for the tallest anymore, despite being quite tall. They're all able to take up my leg, and I'm not showing. Just having fun. Love your videos. Tucker always reminds me of my ❤horse. Same bit and I have it tattooed on my forearm. He's a sweet boy! 😍
Garth is beautiful! I started riding in my early thirties, and I need to ride big horses as I`m heavy, but I haven`t tried a draft horse yet, not sure how common they are here in Norway. Love them though! Big is beautiful! ;)
This was such a fun video thanks for sharing! I love drafts and am thinking of getting a draft cross. I have a bit of experience with them and I think they are just the most perfect horses!!!
"I would feel a lot cooler if I didn't have this helmet on" I'm 100% the guy at work who wears all of the available PPE because I want to go home at the end of the day. Not to the hospital or the morgue. But I won't wear any headgear but my stetson when riding.
I rode a clyde/freisian for a few months about the same size as Garth there 15.3h, now I'm back on a 14.2h, I feel so much closer to the ground but my seat is so much more balanced than before I rode the draft.
My sweet North American paint draft is 17.3 and it was intimidating just being next to her but she is patient and slow… now we have learned how to do round pen work together and we have bonded! I feel so much better riding her this year after all the ground work. She listens more and I guess I do too. I usually get on her from the wheel well of my trailer… she is very patient and waits for me to get on and get my feet in the stirrups. So sweet! She is slow to turn also… but getting better.
I have always loved draft horses (it’s those big feetsies), and finally got to see one in real life last week. I have anxiety riding regular horses, but one thing on my bucket list is to ride one of these giants.
Awwww Garth is beautiful! I ride a Belgian cross named Rusty in my lessons and absolutely love him, hes prbly 16h & im 5'2! But he's soo comfortable and smooth💙 Love them! Thanks for your fun Videos ❣
Gah! I love big drafts. My lease horse is a quarter thoroughbred cross, and after a bout of lameness I was saddled with a short stocky gypsy Cobb. I totally felt that “I look like I don’t know how to ride because they feel so different.” That nice heavy trot is great but on a short draft I felt like I was getting launched out of the saddle. Super fun though!
I love Garth, he looks like Epona from the Legend of Zelda :D The barn where I ride recently got a draft horse named Remington (everyone calls him Remy) who used to be an Amish working horse, and he's such a gentle giant. He's going to be used for veteran horse therapy, if I remember correctly.
Her riding Garth looks like me riding my sisters horse! 😂 my sisters horse is wider than mine, has an attitude the size of Texas, is shorter than mine, and has longer stirrups that are a pain to shorten. And because she has a big attitude and I don’t rly fit the stirrups I don’t have much control 😂 AND my horse is very easygoing while my sisters wants to go her own way or the highway lol so it’s a big change for me when we swap horses.
❤ I wish I could hang out and ride with Carm! She is such a real person! We are so much alike, we would have a blast!! I’ve been riding a Belgian Halflinger more bounce in that bad boy!! ❤
Fairly new to your channel and loving it! I love the way you explain things and very natural… I have a question. When I put the bit in my horses mouth he puts his tongue over the top any remedy ? I’m thinking to go bit-less
Hello! I’m glad you’re enjoying the channel and thank you for your support! The first thing I would do is make sure the bridle fits properly and isn’t too loose. If the bit is hanging too low in the mouth, it’s easier for the horse to do this. If your bridle is fitted properly, I personally would just ignore it. Sometimes, by just ignoring it, the horse will stop doing it, but if every time they do it, you get off and take the bridle off, it can become a habit. I hope this helps!
Great advice! My trainer at the time helped me fit the bridle and we went through many different bits and one day I noticed his tongue looked strange and sure enough we both noticed every time either one of us would ride, give a couple of minutes we’d check and his tongue over the bit. If I did it up any higher would cut the corners of his mouth so I added rings. He’s a big 16 hands Friesian Paint like a dog so doesn’t surprise me he’s found some thing new to play with. Just the size of him makes me worry about how far I’d fall if he decides to tryout as a bucking bronco lol
I ride a 14hh pony 2 days a week for my Hunter jumping lessons and a 17hh horse 1 day a week for my dressage lesson and I often do them in then same day and it is a big difference to go from a 14hh to 17hh 😂
When I first started taking dressage lessons, I rode a huge draft horse (I think it was a Belgian as well.). It was like riding a barrel....yes, like doing a split. Their strides are big and they get to where they're going fast. It was very difficult to get that horse to stop. One day I pointed her toward my instructor's golf cart and she freaked out and asked if I was trying to kill her. lol
He's so cute, it's kinda funny that you make so many comments about his size..😅 I'm very used to seeing you with Tucker too, so I also feel like he's just this giant beast. (Here before this video has 900 views)
Also: "You know, that brushing feels really nice on my head. Keep it up lady!" All that hair coming off sure looked like he'd appreciate a nice brush down.
I own exclusively drafts and draft crosses. My biggest boy is a almost 19HH and he's only 3 💀 I find big horses very comfortable to ride, but I'm also very tall so that probably has something to do with it lmao
I ride a Black Forest draft.. I love riding him.. I ride with a bareback saddle.. it’s like riding a couch 😂
That must be fun! I rode a Percheron for many years until she died of colic at 23.. miss her every day. (This was Bailey: ua-cam.com/play/PLB85269B0E9C6867E.html)
It’s funny to me that the western saddle looks so small on Garth. I can’t even imagine how small an English saddle would look on him 😂 ❤
That's probably why she picked Western🤣
Probably like an english saddle looked on a horse called 'Tiny' I used to ride.
like an ant, lol.
For context he was a Shire x, stood at 18.2hh without the saddle on. Not as wide as this boy though.

You are so sweet, always smiling :) Draft horses are calm and nice horses. They are big but really nice. Best regards from Norway :)
I adore Garth!! I used to have the blessing of caring for 6 Clydesdale when I was young. They're remarkably sweet and willing and will cooperate with just about anyone❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I love how draft horses have those heavy and expressive eyes❤
Garth looks so sweet! My friend owns two Belgians one at 19hh and the other at 20 and we both ride. I agree it feels like the splits and their very different than a normal horse but they are the sweetest.

Awwww! Y'all are so cute! Love Belgians!!
I love drafts! They are the sweetest ❤

Collin saying that he playes Zelda totk and the mustangs look like Garth is so silly to me haha
You look so tiny on him 😊 I have a full Clydesdale who is amost 19hh. He's SOOOO MUCH FUN. I feel you need a draft!! ❤❤❤
Drafties are AMAZING! I own 2 that I ride…they’re so much fun! My Belgian is 16H and my Percheron is 17H 😍♥️
What kind of riding do you do with them?
I love the videography in this video, its very well done and fun to watch, good quality
Colin's comment about the helmet 😂 and your response ☺️👍👍 Love you two!
He is adorable! Loved the video. Colin should get a draft for himself. Lol
Hi love your videos. Me and hubby rode heavys last Monday. I rode a 18.3 shire and he rode a 16+ Clydesdale. I got to do canter and trott a few times. Was amazing. We live in the UK so went to Cumbria to do this. Was amazing 😍
Funny thing. Links horse in Zelda is a Belgian draft.
WE NEED to see more of this!!!❤❤❤
The posting trot in western is everything
Aww, Garth has the cutest pink nose. Love it. I really like all your videos and esp ones you include Colin! Ride 'em cowboy!! You both look great on the Belgian. Cant wait to see more. How about Yoshi standing next to Garth?
Garth is so cute and such a good boy! ❤❤❤
I love thick horses, and Garth is adorable! It is a big change when you jump up on a big, wide horse. My ❤horse had Belgian somewhere in her history and she was a tank at 15hh. My current ride is a Halflinger and is another big girl...except she's short. Lol!

I have an 18hh Black Percheron. It's like riding an apartment building.
LOVE the draft horse!! 💙🐴❣️
The small tail is very cute but its super sad that a part of his spine got cut off
It's never cute when an animal's had bits of its body cut off to suit what humans think looks good, or to make things more convenient for them.
Oh my goodness, I love draft horses! I knew a Belgian gelding once and he was one of the sweetest horses you'd ever meet. RIP Sampson
Garth is beautiful! I started riding in my early thirties, and I need to ride big horses as I`m heavy, but I haven`t tried a draft horse yet, not sure how common they are here in Norway. Love them though! Big is beautiful! ;)
He is just adorable!! ❤❤❤❤
draft horses are my favorite they're good for everything
I love the galloping gate on these big horses very comfortable to ride , to me the most uncomfortable horse to ride is a Basuto pony😂😂
This was such a fun video thanks for sharing! I love drafts and am thinking of getting a draft cross. I have a bit of experience with them and I think they are just the most perfect horses!!!

Im going to be getting a percheron paint colt, im super excited.
He's really cute!❤
Wow! You look so little on that horse!
I rode a clyde/freisian for a few months about the same size as Garth there 15.3h, now I'm back on a 14.2h, I feel so much closer to the ground but my seat is so much more balanced than before I rode the draft.

Always sad that horses with short or clipped tails can’t swish the flies … I’d put an extension to help them out!
Omggg Garth is amazing! Can we get more of him pls?❤
My friend owns belgians and I have rode one before. They are fun.
Great video. I’m 48 and I would love a big draft horse to ride. Thanks for sharing your experience
Oh! that draft looks juts like a oldy we had at the lesson barn i go to, sadly got put down a week ago or so.
I have a belgian/tb cross 17 hands. He favors the belgian. Very different and much bigger movement but soooo willing and the work ethic of a saint.
I have always loved draft horses (it’s those big feetsies), and finally got to see one in real life last week. I have anxiety riding regular horses, but one thing on my bucket list is to ride one of these giants.

At first i thought his name was Girth😂😂😂
Garth needs tail extensions to replace his docked tail. Don't laugh, they exist.
A lesson horse i rode years ago was half quarter horse half draft her name was queenie her trot was very smooth and she was an awesome horse
The horse is so handsome ☺️
WOW LOVE RIDING DRAFT HORSES ARENT THEY AMAZING? ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

TODAY I got to live my dream of owning a horse, and a GIANT 17 hand Spotted Draft/Gypsy Vanner Cross. She's 11 and gorgeous!!!
Cool! Was this at Tuckers old boarding barn? Also, what happened to Pepper and Bella?
Ya gotta get them up to a run, it's like riding on a marshmallow !!! I've got a big old school Percheron and he's awesome.
❤ I wish I could hang out and ride with Carm! She is such a real person! We are so much alike, we would have a blast!! I’ve been riding a Belgian Halflinger more bounce in that bad boy!! ❤
I ride a half Clydesdale half thoroughbred horse and she's so sweet❤
"Um no bad" thats what my instruter says to me all the time
I swear, getting OFF a draft horse is the scariest thing ever, LOL. I've definitely fallen right onto my butt post-dismount before!!
I love drafts.
I feel like I am doing the splits to when I am on draft too!
I have a 17hh draft cross. I'm always confused when I ride smaller horses 😅
my horse is a huge 16.3hh/17hh spotted draft. she is like riding on a couch but shes huuge!!

I have done that the gaits where Ruff he was 19 hands !!!
I ride a 14hh pony 2 days a week for my Hunter jumping lessons and a 17hh horse 1 day a week for my dressage lesson and I often do them in then same day and it is a big difference to go from a 14hh to 17hh 😂
I have ridden so many drafts and jumped bare back he is pretty fast but. The biggest horse I have ridden is about 16'3 I think?
I Love some draft horse's
are Draft horses larger than the biggest Elks and Mosses? or ?.. wow.. I want one!
Colin is so comfortable.
When I first started taking dressage lessons, I rode a huge draft horse (I think it was a Belgian as well.). It was like riding a barrel....yes, like doing a split. He looks like he’s saying, “Give me my head” 😂 Is he usually ridden with a Western bridle and split reins?
Regardless, keep up the great work you two!
Wow posted 18mins ago!!
i ride a small draft!! he’s 16hh too but he’s a cross so he’s less chunky 😂.
still a tank though, i’ve come close to crashing through a 12hh pony…😅
He's so cute, it's kinda funny that you make so many comments about his size..😅 I'm very used to seeing you with Tucker too, so I also feel like he's just this giant beast.
(Here before this video has 900 views)
the horse i ride is a draft x and he's 17.1 :P he's super agile though for his size.
Love this video!
Do you think that I could Be a good Barrel racer
The horse was thinking: "I'll be nice and do what these humans tell me to do, so maybe they'll leave me alone soon." :)
Also: "You know, that brushing feels really nice on my head. Keep it up lady!" All that hair coming off sure looked like he'd appreciate a nice brush down.
WHT does the horse holds his head down. I was cool watching both ride a different horse
I own exclusively drafts and draft crosses. My biggest boy is a almost 19HH and he's only 3 💀 I find big horses very comfortable to ride, but I'm also very tall so that probably has something to do with it lmao
gg colin!
AWW i am your biggest fan
I'm not sure what breed of horse mine is but he's huge ,16.2 hands and I ride western with him
Aww, sweet boy~!
What a handsome Belgian gentleman.
Why there is the diference in writing draft or draught? 🤔
I ride mainly three of my horses one at 17.1 other at 16.3 and last at 18.1 so he seems small to me 😂
