Liang Jingkun suspended by CTTA until the end of 2022! Did he deserve it?

  • Liang Jingkun is given a 3 months suspension. This is most likely due to his celebration after defeating Lin Gaoyuan in the first round of the WTT Champions Macao 2022. But I think that there is more to that. Listen to my thoughts on why Liang Jingkun is banned and whether I agree with the ban.

Although the ban is a bit hard, i think China is doing a good job with their players; they are much more respectful than many europeans like Moregard, and the change in Wang Chuqin behavior is a proof. I´m pretty sure LJK will change this behavior when the ban is over.

To disrespect FZD and Ma Long is enough to be reprimanded in some way. Who does this guy think he is. Both those guys are better players and they always show respect even when they lose. Just like when FZD and ML recently lost in competition. They behaved like men and champions. Time for these young dudes to grow up. I think you can forgive them for one or even two offences but if it begins to be a trend, get rid of them altogether. Talent is deep on Team China ,men and women.

A world where sports competitors fight, argue with umpires and destroy property table tennis is refreshing to watch especially Asian sportsmanship. The Europeans at times cross that line of negativity but not as a trend. CTA have invested in these talents in their development and expect some degree of positive representation. It's part of their culture to always be under control in victory and in defeat. Westerners believe in bragadocious and ridicule in competitions. Therefore the concept of being humble is low on the list of aspired behavior. I wasn't aware of Wang Cousin past behavior shortcomings and thought that this guy has a great attitude even after talk was he might be benched for losing to Harimoto. The lost by Fan to Harimoto might have changed the perspective of that lost since number 1 had fallen. He lost at the China national games he didn't pout or show any unsportsmanlike attitude. China the most dominant compared to any sport has the correct formula. So any actions they take is for the collective good. Remember they are a socialist state.

Wang Chuqing did not lose to a foreigner when he was banned for bad behaviour toward another Chinese player. In fact, he was sent home immediately and had to forfeit the rest of the competition, causing his doubles partners to forfeit as well. That was 3 possible finals China gave up to show it regarded good behaviour more important than winning. Similarly, Zhou Yu and Fang bo were banned for misbehaviour during domestic competitions, with many people sympathetic to Fang's frustration.
Poor competitions against foreigners may get reconsideration of assignment but not banning, Lin Gaoyuan has lost to foreigners, most recently to Harimoto from a winning position, but he took the challenge during the Chinese Nationals to prove himself by defeating Fan Zhendong after losing two games in the match. Competition for assignments is fierce within CNT and players have to prove their worth in more ways than one.

This can only be explained from a cultural point of view...and if chinese player gets banned by chinese association, then let them do it.
From a western (in my case: german) point of view, this was nothing!
Heat of the moment, adrenalin is high, feelings overflow and LJK is doing exactly what? Put's the racket in his pants and puckers his lips...oh wow!
As an amateur player I am more annoyed with the Screamamotos and Chooers of our sport and I would even interpret LKJs gesture as a kind of relief to have won the match.
But okay, other cultures have a different point of view on things and I highly respect that and I was really NOT surprised that LJK was banned.

5:50 - The difference is clear. Ma Long looks like a gladiator who slew his last opponent. Liang looks like Trump who lost the elections.

well, if it was that Liang was suspended because he lost to a foreign player, then we can only conclude that the CTTA is being disrespectful to the sport of table tennis. But putting his blade inside his pants, whether the racket was inside his underwear or touching his private part and making a show of it was rather uncouthed and disrespectful to his opponent. Unfortunately, I think the CTTA was not serious for if his action was considered unacceptable behaviour, he ought to be banned for at least one year with total lost in privileges. Best we do not dwell into his personal life story based on hearsay. Let him handle it himself if it was true.

Is the suspend written in the law? If not they must add it and do it after adding. If not, it is just no human right here. Sharping player by force like this is nothing more than power abusing (sending Malin to the farm).

Actually, the one that was sent to the farm was Chen Qi, nicknamed god of the killer.

C'mon team China 🇨🇳 table tennis Federation. RELAX. The kid only tucked his bat handle into his front of his shorts and pulled a face. Don't No read too much into it, its no big deal. I don't think Lin Gaoyuan would have minded. Far worse things happen in the world of sport that goes unpunished.
When did tucking a tt bat into one's shorts become rude or obnoxious tt behaviour ??...hmmm 🤔
Don't be such sissy prudes. This is a typical case of misguided political correctness.
    Ease off on LJK.
Zhang Zhike ripped his shirt off and was harshly penalised by the China tt authority.
This is "Sport" and we males are jacked up with adrenaline, testosterone n nerves...surely he can be forgiven.
The punishment DOES NOT fit the crime, if it may be called a crime.

Russian ATHLETES who have practiced for years are not doing anything in disrespectful manners to sports fan, audience, opponent players. But they are banned for pathetic political reason.

WTT Championships finals 2016... Ma Long was really disrespectful to FZD he should have been ordered to stop his behaviour by the referee. Not worthy of a champ but that wasn´t the only time when he has shown what kind of ego he has.

There is a difference in celebrating a major hard fought win and disrespect for the opponent. Ma Long's posing as a swordsman was actually quite amusing. He did not aim any disrespectful gesture towards FZD.

I want TT to stay a sport of gentlemen. Give me a Timo Boll - who signals to the referee that the ball touched his body, so the point is not his - any day. And keep lame repulsive little cheaters like Armstrong or Maradona...

China have 1000 player such as liang jing kun.

Liang Jingkun is fat and not as presentable as the slim and athletic Ma Long. Liang Jingkun is a great player but lacks the competitive fire that Ma Long has. China probably sent him to work in the coal mines. Liang Jingkun will return slimmer, faster and much hingrier to win titles. I like the discipline of China.
