Liang Jingkun suspended by CTTA until the end of 2022! Did he deserve it?

- Liang Jingkun is given a 3 months suspension. This is most likely due to his celebration after defeating Lin Gaoyuan in the first round of the WTT Champions Macao 2022. But I think that there is more to that. Listen to my thoughts on why Liang Jingkun is banned and whether I agree with the ban.

“Motivation gets you going, but discipline keeps you growing.”
Although the ban is a bit hard, i think China is doing a good job with their players; they are much more respectful than many europeans like Moregard, and the change in Wang Chuqin behavior is a proof. I´m pretty sure LJK will change this behavior when the ban is over.
They only do that for appearances
@@pedrovoss7852 Rules enforce an appearance and an appearance creates a mindset. If you pretend to be respectful long enough you will probably become respectful.
@@MicaelAlastor I don't think they would care if the player is disrespectful, as already mentioned there was Zhang Jike's case, but they wouldn't do that because he was the best of the world in the he did that. They only do that to make China look like a disciplined place where everyone is respectful, they only want to sell their image, I don't think they would ban Fan Zhendong right now if the destroyed a racket
@@pedrovoss7852 they cant pay the price of consequences of banning ma long or fzd🤣😂
Zhang Jike was not ban, but fined $45.000
To disrespect FZD and Ma Long is enough to be reprimanded in some way. Who does this guy think he is. Both those guys are better players and they always show respect even when they lose. Just like when FZD and ML recently lost in competition. They behaved like men and champions. Time for these young dudes to grow up. I think you can forgive them for one or even two offences but if it begins to be a trend, get rid of them altogether. Talent is deep on Team China ,men and women.
Ma Long 's celebration was about being proud of himself, using the racket as a sword. Liang mocked his opponent by using the racket as a *enis and making a *uck it face.
Well done. And thanks for the information. I was really wondering about exactly what was going on. Thanks.
What Ma Long did was totally different with what Liang did.
Liang did put his foot on the table in a match was HORRIBLE.
totally lol, I can't believe they compared them
He was mocking in a disrespectful way so the suspension is good 👍 for him to learn from his conduct.
Thanks for covering the issue.
Ma Long's explanation of returning a sword to his side is a reasonable explanation, but Liang Jingkun may not be viewed by western standards as disrespectful but by chinese standards it is. And I agree with CTTA its good to have standards in any sport and China are being consistent. I am just glad that Liang did not have the handle facing up...!!!!
LMAO
Hahahha
A world where sports competitors fight, argue with umpires and destroy property table tennis is refreshing to watch especially Asian sportsmanship. The Europeans at times cross that line of negativity but not as a trend. CTA have invested in these talents in their development and expect some degree of positive representation. It's part of their culture to always be under control in victory and in defeat. Westerners believe in bragadocious and ridicule in competitions. Therefore the concept of being humble is low on the list of aspired behavior. I wasn't aware of Wang Cousin past behavior shortcomings and thought that this guy has a great attitude even after talk was he might be benched for losing to Harimoto. The lost by Fan to Harimoto might have changed the perspective of that lost since number 1 had fallen. He lost at the China national games he didn't pout or show any unsportsmanlike attitude. China the most dominant compared to any sport has the correct formula. So any actions they take is for the collective good. Remember they are a socialist state.
Cousin should be Chuqin
LOL at Ma Long's swordsman's pose! Proud and righteous, he would really look the part in a historical costume.
he's childish and cute😍
I think his gesture along with the facial expression was supposed to mean “sick my duck” 😂
I really cannot read what that means ? really means suck my duck ? what is that facial expression? is it sucking ? and what means to put the racket in front ? means that it is my duck ?
@@meys57 yes to your second, fourth and sixth questions 😁
Good for the organization. Table Tennis comes with standards. They must be maintained. Don't compromise the discipline for anything....
Just found this channel, this is amazing for table tennis :D
That's a very good, detailed, and logical explanation. Most countries cannot AFFORD to suspend top players to for minor offenses. China can, but the fact that they did it only after the team championship shows a certain degree of hypocrisy. That being said, I found the celebration to be a rather funny and I suspect many other Westerners feel the same.
Liang put on his little show in Macao after the team championship in Chengdu. Your comment simply shows a certain degree of stupidity. Not surprising though, westerner.
@@haozhang8593 Words of wisdom. Or something. Thank you.
Totally unfair! If people can't have a little harmless fun in sport, it's a sad show!
Thank you for that nice explanation
Very insightful
Moregard is learning. It's been two whole months since his last throw 😄
I think the federation can make rules, and deal out decisions, without much player friendly apeal possebilities, or evaluation of those rules. Also you have to undergo the decision, without being heared, or when waiting for your apeal to come trough. Or so in belgium that is the case.
This is stupid. Waaaay too hard punishment. He got suspended because he lost to Lebrun, i.e. non-Chinese.
Much ado about nothing. A simple apology should have sufficed. There are bigger things to worry about.
Nice analysis
GTT, you have provided a clear reasonable views on the suspension of Liang Jingkun.
CTTA did the right move on the suspension. Players not only need to be discplined but also mentally mature during or after each matches. Their actions mean image to the country. There are so many talented players in CHINA and it is so competitive to be chosen to represent their country. Each player neeeds to treasure what is given.
CTTF pentingkan disiplin pemainnya. Anyway, terbaik untuk pemain.
👍👍👍👍👍
Yeah right! discipline makes a difference, that's what the other nationalities should be doing because that is part of sportmanship training. See how malong is so discipline about training, on and off the court, as a celebrity and as a father and a man himself, even the Greatest is so discipline how come the others who doesn't have great achievements don't show respect??
Ma Long put his racket on the side like a sword/gun. LJK put his racket at the center, like Idk what it is resembling at all. you don't put your sword, at the center.
Yeah it's literally a "F**k you" gesture but with a racket. Disgusting even for low amateur level and unacceptable for professionals.
Person-specific treatment by that regime won't be a surprise to me AT ALL!
So different Ma Long and Liang.
This shows that China does not take errors or mistakes lightly, thus players are disciplined and good at their craft.
Compared to Europe, they can't even sanction players who violate rules & regulations of ITTF and WTT.
The punishment may be harsh, but it's the way they discipline players.
Does seem really out of character for any Chinese player. We have the NBA players for stuff like that.
Admin,at first you said NO but end you said YES, yes or no actually?
He didn't say yes. He said that it was reasonable taking into account past mistakes. The gesture alone is not worthy of a ban but marriage scandal, losing to lebrun and past provoking celebrations added up made China banning him.
I think suspension is too stringent for him.. First time suspension can be given a ban of 1 month only as we really don't know whether a waring is been given to him ir not .. But punishment is needed I completely agreed on this
zhang jike got sanction and even needed to give the money prize back
It is not fair.
If they want a fine would be enough.
I still think that it is not that simple what happening around Lin Gaoyaun in Chinese team. If he lose he always promoted despite other players. If he is somehow damaged always rewarded... strange situation ...
Muitos países adorariam ter o LJK no seu time!!
If there aren't any specific rules how not to celebrate victory in table tennis then the suspension is a bulls**t. Asians are often still in rock era when coming to terms with slightly extravagant celebration. I remember the sumo master Asashoryu who was not typical calm and artificialy collected man.
Nonsense in Banning Liang Jingkun doesn't have any intention to be disrespect for sure. insprite of that he is a cool funny guy that feature make me and even adam the commentator laugh so hard
Tearing of your shirt, removing your shirt naked and kicking, destroying the side advertising board is more grave and disrespectful. These acts did by Zhang Jike. Those putting the racket on their shorts and posing is least to put a suspension. The table tennis organization should make a policy or rules of disrespectful acts so all tt players will know the restrictions.
He was punished because he lost to westerners several times lately. That's as simple as true. As Chinese player you can do a lot when winning against non-Chinese but as soon as you lose matches versus non-Chinese fun is over.
Wang Chuqing did not lose to a foreigner when he was banned for bad behaviour toward another Chinese player. In fact, he was sent home immediately and had to forfeit the rest of the competition, causing his doubles partners to forfeit as well. That was 3 possible finals China gave up to show it regarded good behaviour more important than winning. Similarly, Zhou Yu and Fang bo were banned for misbehaviour during domestic competitions, with many people sympathetic to Fang's frustration.
Poor competitions against foreigners may get reconsideration of assignment but not banning, Lin Gaoyuan has lost to foreigners, most recently to Harimoto from a winning position, but he took the challenge during the Chinese Nationals to prove himself by defeating Fan Zhendong after losing two games in the match. Competition for assignments is fierce within CNT and players have to prove their worth in more ways than one.
His pose is too funny😭
Looks like a rather severe punishment for a seemingly innocuous action on his part, unless there's more to the interpretation of it than what I can see.
I can only imagine how funny that "offense" would have looked if tennis players started doing it.
atlet yg unik, eric cantona, gatusso, ibrahimovic, roy keane, banyak atlet mengekspresikan sesuatu dengan cara yang berbeda...
This can only be explained from a cultural point of view...and if chinese player gets banned by chinese association, then let them do it.
From a western (in my case: german) point of view, this was nothing!
Heat of the moment, adrenalin is high, feelings overflow and LJK is doing exactly what? Put's the racket in his pants and puckers his lips...oh wow!
As an amateur player I am more annoyed with the Screamamotos and Chooers of our sport and I would even interpret LKJs gesture as a kind of relief to have won the match.
But okay, other cultures have a different point of view on things and I highly respect that and I was really NOT surprised that LJK was banned.
For anyone who asks, "What is rude/too much?", I recommend: ua-cam.com/video/ukeAUz7f_7A/v-deo.html 😉
The Chinese is the best at this game. So what the Chinese values towards the sportsmanship within Table Tennis should be respected and looked up to. I think what LJK did makes him a dxck. After all, he makes a lot of people uncomfortable and that game was not even a grand final.
OK, that's your point of view, but not of all westerners. I think the ban was tough, but still OK.
Chin I doing a very good Job.❤️❤️❤️
Tossing a racket puts others at risk. Can't compare apples and oranges. With that said, a ban for this length of time is over the top.
Not a big deal really unless there's more to the story than meets the eye. and like you said, it was probably the straw that broke the camel's back
For me, what he did was fine, but opinions varies. In China, people expect athletes to have not only skills and achievement but also proper manner, and that's why Chinese athletes have stricter rules comparing to the others.
And another reason is probably that he lost too many games recently, so it is not a super big deal to ban him.
@@samwang5617 I'm just wondering if his positioning of the paddle and pursed lips is more enraging to the Chinese than it is to Americans. Unfortunately for us, the past decade has ushered in a rapid decline of traditional manners. So we're pretty calloused these days. I felt like Zhang Jike kicking down the barriers was much worse, but maybe Liang was told to watch his attitude one too many times
China is right to uphold the highest level of discipline and Standards of good Sportsmanship as well as respect to their opponents. I demonstrates China being the best not only in Skills and Success, but would equally Shine a light exemplary behaviours expected of their National Heroes and Sporting Diplomats.
Actually the way malong celebrate is like mature prideful one, Zhang jike's is just so much meanwhile Liang jingkun is just way to sexually associated it is due to the facial reaction and the location where he put the racket
Everyone can lose were all human. Unlucky son.
Every single friend of mine who watches tt found his move disgusting……and I used to be kind of a fan of him. sigh
If a player from any country other than China would have done this celebration, nobody would even think to ban him. Instead of discussing how ridiculous and stupid Chinese rules are, we are seriously discussing LJK's gesture. If non-chinese football players were judged with the same approach as CTTA judged LJK, there would now be nobody to play in the World Cup.
If the same rules were applied to the football world, they simply would behave... They're acting like spoiled brats, because they can.
@@pierreb2320 Whereas I am not a big fan of the way football players (and other sportsmen) often behave, I would rather prefer to see the freedom of expressing all spectrum of emotions than authoritarian control that turns people into robots that are allowed to say and do only what the Party lets them
@@allopriem--- I wasn't aware that all forms of celebration were vulgar... my bad.
your analogy shows the size of your brain
You have some evolution to catch up.
You seldom hear Chinese players with "scandals or stories". Or at least not broadcasted or discussed widely. He however - got two bad stories linked to him in close succession. That's stark contrast to other players with zero incidents. Hence that may have added to the gravity of the punishment.
ZJK destroyed his shirt and the barriers but that celebration didn't involve his private parts. Ma long put his racket to the side of his shorts and not directly above his dick.
I doubt the ones commenting here that don't have an issue with the celebration even plays table tennis.
Jingkun put the handle of his blade on his dick - in my brain that connects to his hand holding that same handle -- the same hand that players use to shake hands with the opponent after winning or losing a match. Yes he didn't use his right hand to hold the handle again after the celebration but still it's not a good "reminder" that you use the same hands.
You just don't do gestures that involve your private parts. We're civilized people living in 2022.
Celebration was really gross. Much more disrespectful than throwing racket for sure. 3 month suspension may be tough, but some kind of sanction is OK.
I can understand the importance of discipline to the Chinese TT Federation but was he given any warnings after his previous deeds? I believe there’s politics in everything so perhaps some double standards here? Perhaps they should also ban the screaming of team members after their player wins a point? I have seen some matches where it was blatantly obvious they were trying to irritate their opponents by doing that. Is that sportsmanlike? Anyway, whatever.
dude there is a huge difference between how Liang and Ma did it. What Liang did is utterly disrespectful and obnoxious.
👍
Ma Longs celebration did not seem very disrespectful. He put the racket to his side unlike liang.
different culture & different concept
In the eye of Asian, the western way of some dressing, verbal and body language is very very rude. Looking at your parents, teachers' eyes very much straight for 15 seconds is considered as an act of intimidation. Putting your hands on your waist while you are talking to them is seen as an act of challenge. You are sitting and chatting with your friends. If they come to you for any reason, you must do standing ovation.
Pemain berbahaya ini
He is nice guy ....its not fair in my opinion but if there is an article made it clear there is a ban for such behavior then he deserve
act with respect and modesty is what I usually expect from chinese champions that's what I like about them very much
he is a great champion I hope to see him back soon
Great Video
Bro, admire the way you spoke about the game , I am sports analyst for UA-cam too, free can PM me to collaborate on some sports data for presentation! Cheers.. Btw I am from Singapore !
That would be great! 😁😁
i think this is too much
I think its good, its an imature and a bit groce move that doesnt belong in the sport.
I like that you showed truls moregard as another example i think he should get a ban because his behavior is trash
9:28 WHAT!? xD
Liang Jingkun deserves what he got.
Perhaps those who don't know Cantonese may not understand the seriousness of Liang's misbehaviour. To say "Lin Gao-yuan" in Cantonese, it sounds like "淋睪丸" (soft testicle). Added Liang's horrible facial expression, you can see how humiliating it is!
What a joke. I find Harimotos screams to be far worse than this.
6 inches broke a career. Lol
Es un invento, seguro lo quieren sacar por otra razón, es una razón demasiado estúpida, incluso para la tiranía deportiva china.
no he did not deserve it. He along with FZD are the new kings
Nah what is that celebration
It's the adrenaline rush of the moment. An emotional outbursts after a match full of tension. Some ppl more so than others.
Happens to different sports as well, like tennis, soccer or boxing. Maybe not a bad thing if you want table tennis to be more popular, nobody likes to see poker faces.
Just leave the decision to chinese table tennis world. They have a unique, standalone, autonomous set of rules in table tennis against the world.
Moregard should be banned
after beating Lin,Liang celebrated with this ugly gesture. okay…okay… However,he was quickly defeated by a young boy😂 😂😂😂and he already had some negative news before this.
5:50 - The difference is clear. Ma Long looks like a gladiator who slew his last opponent. Liang looks like Trump who lost the elections.
well, if it was that Liang was suspended because he lost to a foreign player, then we can only conclude that the CTTA is being disrespectful to the sport of table tennis. But putting his blade inside his pants, whether the racket was inside his underwear or touching his private part and making a show of it was rather uncouthed and disrespectful to his opponent. Unfortunately, I think the CTTA was not serious for if his action was considered unacceptable behaviour, he ought to be banned for at least one year with total lost in privileges. Best we do not dwell into his personal life story based on hearsay. Let him handle it himself if it was true.
Is the suspend written in the law? If not they must add it and do it after adding. If not, it is just no human right here. Sharping player by force like this is nothing more than power abusing (sending Malin to the farm).
Actually, the one that was sent to the farm was Chen Qi, nicknamed god of the killer.
C'mon team China 🇨🇳 table tennis Federation. RELAX. The kid only tucked his bat handle into his front of his shorts and pulled a face. Don't No read too much into it, its no big deal. I don't think Lin Gaoyuan would have minded. Far worse things happen in the world of sport that goes unpunished.
When did tucking a tt bat into one's shorts become rude or obnoxious tt behaviour ??...hmmm 🤔
Don't be such sissy prudes. This is a typical case of misguided political correctness.
Ease off on LJK.
Zhang Zhike ripped his shirt off and was harshly penalised by the China tt authority.
This is "Sport" and we males are jacked up with adrenaline, testosterone n nerves...surely he can be forgiven.
The punishment DOES NOT fit the crime, if it may be called a crime.
tantrik t.👉🏽😎
👊🏽💪🏽🏓.
both ridiculously minor. don't be such whimp. nobody should care. if ever, ZJK may have been banned. but hey, he just had won the WC!
Russian ATHLETES who have practiced for years are not doing anything in disrespectful manners to sports fan, audience, opponent players. But they are banned for pathetic political reason.
Lmao what was this celebration
WTT Championships finals 2016... Ma Long was really disrespectful to FZD he should have been ordered to stop his behaviour by the referee. Not worthy of a champ but that wasn´t the only time when he has shown what kind of ego he has.
Didnt know there was a wttc in 2016
There is a difference in celebrating a major hard fought win and disrespect for the opponent. Ma Long's posing as a swordsman was actually quite amusing. He did not aim any disrespectful gesture towards FZD.
Dasar kaum baperan pezinah
I want TT to stay a sport of gentlemen. Give me a Timo Boll - who signals to the referee that the ball touched his body, so the point is not his - any day. And keep lame repulsive little cheaters like Armstrong or Maradona...
funny ... grow up. why need to put ending with truls...
China have 1000 player such as liang jing kun.
Liang Jingkun is fat and not as presentable as the slim and athletic Ma Long. Liang Jingkun is a great player but lacks the competitive fire that Ma Long has. China probably sent him to work in the coal mines. Liang Jingkun will return slimmer, faster and much hingrier to win titles. I like the discipline of China.
Yes,he deserved the punishment really ! No respect to the other player !
