Honestly couldn't give a shit about a Boba Fett prequel movie I wanna see him climb out of the sarlac pit after years of torture and go hunting for Han and the gang.
iBourne xx 1994 if it happens before 789, its technically a prequel film, i know prequel means 123 era, but its after 6 but is now a prequel since 7 and now 8 have dropped.
and from josh trenk era boba filming (kev podcasted with him, google it, nice guy, bad studios) fett WAS plotted to start at getting out of the pit, less goofy ep 6 fett, more cool ep 5 fett, cause disneys cutting all the joy from SW.
turns out the pit takes 14 years to digest. boba climbs out in 13 like he was the dark knight escaping banes prison.
totally agree. That is the only BF movie I want as well. Use the pre-written storylines from the "Legends" books, especially the "Tales of the Bounty Hunters" book series. Give us Dengar saving Boba from the Sarlacc, bring in Bossk and IG-88. Make a true underworld movie. Have Bear McCreary come in for a kick-ass score. Cast Manu Bennett as Boba Fett. Let Mangold take it to either a hard PG-13 or soft R.
They kinda missed that shot sinds TFA ... or worse some a Rotj. Boba stands as the char that suffered most from the EU deleted. All the cool things he did were errased. Basically he was a glorified Stormtrooper. First they made him a clone then an annoying brat then... oh no wait first they made a blind guy with a stick accidently kill him...
Lucas Film isn't smart enough to go the Marvel formula and make different style movies. A revenge rampage would be amazing but it'll never happen.

The points made about Deadpool 2 are valid. On the other hand, Negasonic and Yukio were the cutest couple ever. Also Domino was arguably even more badass than Cable, who was pretty badass. And the fight scene between Colossus and the big guy was one of the best fight scenes I've seen recently. Seeing Colossus "play dirty" was so satisfying.

Deadpool 2 was bigger and fun as hell. As good as the first? Maybe not and not as fresh in my opinion, but still a damn fun movie.

100% with Mark about Solo! Han in ANH was cold, badass, baritone-voiced smuggler in it for himself and the money. This movie literally called him a "good guy" and painted him as some bleeding heart hero. Kev is right on though - definitely an entertaining action/heist flick. Really enjoyed it as far as that goes!

If you watched clone wars and rebels maul was such a damn treat and that was our wtf moment who have kept up it makes total sense where he is in his position in power if you’ve seen clone wars

You're wondering why Last Jedi would make people not go to see Solo? For me, Last Jedi made me realize that Star Wars is not a thing for me any more. I realized that Star Wars has been over since 1984, when RotJ ended, and Luke's story wrapped up.Star Wars is over, and now I just await a blu-ray box set of the de-specialized original 3.

The Solo movie was awesome pure Fanservice it was like the old EU come to life. The difference how Han met Chewie was actually better this time as here they are actually friends not some weird life debt. Chewie is the rougher older more experienced guy who actually takes a liking to Han because he isnt a two-timing asshole like everyone else in that lifestyle. And stays with him because he is his friend. Chewbacca was never portrait better than here as an actual person with feelings and a backstory. Han was cool and exactlyg like he was in the Older EU stories. Becket was a perfect Solo history character he was like Han only his heart wasn't as big in the end and he did always what's he thought was best for him. Loved the Solo movie and loved that its standalone so nothing could ever hurt it because it's allready made and it is fantastic. The end was epic when Becket started his little speech and suddenly Han sucker punch/shot him. And it's only a logical character development that he starts out as a good guy turns out to be almost like Becket but instead off abandoning Luke the positive good hearted young guy he was once upon a time and flying off with his reward money he thinks back of that moment where he was betrayed and was so pissed off at Becket he shot him in the heart.

It's a Ron Howard Film. Aggressively competent really should have been expected. On the other hand, this movie had every right to be an incoherent dumpster fire, but it turned out pretty well IMO. Not outstanding or spectacular, but it's a Ron Howard film.

It wasn't just The Last Jedi, it's the last three movies. The trend of doing weird shit with past heroes, made people terrified to see Solo. I almost didn't go see it, but I'm glad I did. If it had been released after The Force Awakens (right after Han died), I think it would have done much better.
I loved Solo. I just saw it today. I also dug Deadpool 2. I always enjoy watching you guys talk about new movies. Awesome show. Keep up the great work.

My father died tonight (June 5th) and I've been by his bedside for weeks while he slowly went down and finally passed away. Listening to you Kevin talk about your father and how he went and what happened with your life has helped me keep my sanity during that time. Thank you for the podcasts and being a great talker who's always interesting.

Noice, im stoked now. Like seriously, hes had one of the greatest and most interesting stories of any SW character thats lasted throughout. That final fight scene with Old Ben in Rebels, bahhh! I cried the first time cuz of how poetic the stances and motions were, now every time i watch it i just get chills.

One of the few times I’ve disagreed with Kevin and Marc. I didn’t feel a disconnect with Deadpool 2 at all. Loved everything about it. I agree with their thoughts on Solo, though.
Have yet to see Solo and I am hearing basically what I expected to hear from them... I'll definitely watch it, for a couple reasons or another, but glad I didn't waste my money going out to see it.

Didn't go to see SOLO because The Last Jedi left the Star Wars universe in a place where the universe would be better off if Han Solo had just died young before he had a child. Rather than ending life as a geriatric smuggler who'd learned nothing, given up on the New Republic, and stopped trying to find his own son (in TFA)... then literally 99% of the New Republic is fleetless or dead at the end of The Last Jedi... it'd be better if Han Solo had died in Empire Strikes Back. So why would anyone care to go see SOLO?
I agree very much with the verdicts over both Deadpool 2 and Solo.
I know both Mark and Kevin have a thing against Gotham, the TV series, but once you've digested thru season 1 and 2 things get a whole lot more interesting from season 3 going to brilliant mid season 3 all the way through entire season 4. Arguably upto Game of Thrones or WestWorld level.
And the good part: Morena Baccarin, who plays Vanessa in DP2 is still very much alive in the series :)

The problems that started with TLJ were not limited to the movie. The boycott is not so much about the movie itself (though it plays a big part) but more about the constant bashing of fans by Lucasfilm employees. We complained about valid stuff, and they call us racist, sexist, crybabies, etc etc. If you go into a restaurant and you don't get the dish you ordered, that's a minor issue. But if the management calls you sexist or racist because the cook happened to be a black woman, that's a capital offense. This is what has happened with Lucasfilm, and that's why we're boycotting.

Han is a survivor. If he tells Enfys Nest that he's not giving them the coaxium, then he's in a gunfight and he is severely outnumbered. Instead he comes up with a great plan to double cross Beckett and take down Dryden Vos. What about that is unlike Han's character? In the original, Han left Yavin with Leia's money because he didn't have a gun to his head. In Solo he had guns drawn on him and he wasn't ready to face the Cloud Riders at all. In ANH, he was older then and owed Jabba a lot of money. That's why he left at first without helping the Rebels. He didn't leave Luke and Leia because he's a huge jerk. Before changing his mind at the trench run, Han's choice was one of self preservation. Just the same choice he made in Solo. Enfys and her gang were not to be messed with.
Numbers of Solo are most definately 100% a result of how disney treated the old characters and the fans. They had a chance to make a movie with all 3 original characters and send them off respectfully, and launch a universe of movies that everyone on the planet would go see by default for the next 100 years. Instead they chose to focus on bullshit politics and shallow characters.
Key point "Characters". In these movies they were treated more like props then characters.
Exactly. Disney's attitude is, " It's ours now, and this is what we are doing. We are right, and if you don't like it, your wrong. But who cares? We will make more Star Wars, and you will keep buying it, because we are Disney,xand we said so...." Then Solo comes out, and the fans, ( most of who didn't want this movie in the first place) said, " Hey Disney. Fuck you. Solos box office reflects that. Disney thinks they are entitled to your consumers dollars, and that you shouldn't be subjective. Just fall in line, and buy our stuff. Well, lots of fans don't agree.
I would like to point out something about Solo. He says that because in Solo Han is a clear cut good guy and not an outlaw like in new hope that it ruins the moment when he shows up to save the day because that's what his character would do. I guess you weren't paying attention at the end of the movie when the girl he loves just leaves his ass with no explanation for him whatsoever might have impacted how he feels about people. That was the one person who he thought shared his dream of getting his own ship and becoming an outlaw and she leaves his ass right there. That is the setup that makes him detached from the rebels in new hope because he is a little jaded from past experience.

The problem with Marc's idea for Boba Fett is that it's already been done. A guy named Jodo Kast gets a hold of armor just like Fett's and goes around pretending to be him so he can charge bigger fees on bounties. Eventually Boba manages to get out of the Sarlacc and kills him.
(of course, that was pre-Disney so it's not considered canon anymore)

Mark talks about how the notion of portraying Han in Solo as a good guy blunts the heel turn at the end of SW77 and I think that might be missing the point of this movie.
My read is that Han starts this movie as a good guy and gradually moves toward scoundrel. By the end, he's been betrayed /hard/ by his mentor, betrayed/abandoned by Lando, and abandoned by his love interest. And he gains no riches from the entire enterprise with those three. Instead, he is guilted out of the profits in a symbolic act of altruism*.
He abandons all pretense of being a good guy when he shoots... whatshisname before the guy's hand even touches metal, then out cheats Lando out of the Falcon (which was severely damaged in the fracas with the coaxium and barely functional) and is last seen heading to Tatooine with the express intention of working for a known crime boss. Han leaves this movie jaded and committed to a life of brazen skulduggery.
His story in SW77, on the other hand, turns that around when he meets several people who remind him of and inspire in him what he lost in this movie -- optimism, youth, idealism.
I don't think this ruins his story in the original movie. I think it informs and even enhances it.
*Several things took me out of this movie, but the heavy-handed connection it drew to the Rebellion was the most glaring example.

My brother said something about going to see it and I was like, I just have no interest whatsoever in seeing some guy I've never heard of try to do an impression of Harrison Ford. I was fine with Ep 8, so it definitely had nothing to do with that either. I said the same thing about a Boba Fett movie. We got all the backstory we ever needed about him in the prequels. At least Rogue One had new characters. Instead of Young (insert SW character name) movies, I'd rather see a Clone Wars movie (and just ignore that animated series crap).

~The entire SJW scene with token asian and Finn on the casino planet was a joke.
~The hamfisted scenes with Phasma, Disneys budget Boba Fett, failing to capture the characters essence and therefore bringing nothing to the movie.
~Leia becoming Superman, surviving explosive decompression on account of her force powers that allow her to survive and fly in vacuum.
~Killing off Admiral Ackbar. Damn Ackbar man. Why couldn't they have killed off token asian?
~Supposedly I'm supposed to believe Rey is a master of a light-saber without ever using one.The montage training scene shows her cutting rocks up and swinging it around with the grace of a Jedi master.
~The entire token asian and Finn plot was a joke, but they had to cram a love interest into the movie somewhere, so they could tick that box off. Climaxing in the autistic scene with Rose ramming Finn's sand-glider-thingy making it crash to the ground... for love? She tried to kill him, to stop him from sacrificing himself, because she loves Finn. Complete idiocy.
~The death of Snoke was a completely wasted opportunity. Anyone who watched The Last Jedi and isn't a complete Star Wars fan was left asking 'Who the fuck was Snoke?' 'I dunno just some bad dude.' No, just no.
~Lukes behavior was completely against character. Luke travels to the second Death Star on a mission of peace to try and reason with his father and bring him back from the dark side. But Disney expects me to be fine with Luke wanting to murder his nephew, the only child of his sister and his best fucking friend, all because Kylo showed a little dark side tendencies? Luke had dark side tendencies but Yoda didn't whip out the light-toothpick and murder Luke.
~The movie had no balls and couldn't choose one way or another. Is Kylo evil or good, oh he's both. Is Rey gonna go light or dark, oh she's both...

The Canto side story was a waste I will say that and for Rose being Asian who cares I don’t think in casting they were like she must not be white no they went with who they liked. Snoke dying I liked, people complain like who was he ,but nobody knew who the Emperor was either when he died. Luke also didn’t try to kill his nephew he had a fleeting moment of instinct, he felt the evil in him and what he could do so he instinctively grabbed his saber but as soon as he lit it he felt ashamed then Kylo woke up and freaked out, understandably. But no Like never would have killed him and didn’t try to kill him. Just what I got out of it.
As a person who likes to come up with stories and now taking my writing seriously, stories I don't want to sacrifice with changes, I'll just get them published as books. The other stories I'm willing to alter would try to turn into screenplays and pitch them to the right people. I just got my BA in Creative English in Writing: Screenplays so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
They are literally killing our favourite characters and ruining their personalities. Of course I'm avoiding Solo like the plague. It's not fatigue...it's fear lol!

Kevin pretty much nailed my feelings on Solo. A friend was asking me if it was worth paying to see in theaters and I had trouble answering. I enjoyed it, but like Kevin said, there just isn't even that one moment where the film justifies its existence. No "Yes! This makes buying that ticket totally worth it!" scene. It was good, but I still left feeling like it was a Star Wars story I could just as easily have gone without.

my theory for Solo 2 is that Qira takes that Mandalorian Armor in the office of the yacht and wears it and becomes the new Boba Fett, as Woody Harrelson admitted to killing Aurra Sing and she was Boba's mentor, so maybe he killed Boba as well not caring who he was
I was rather let down by Deadpool 2 if I’m honest. The Fridging was a real lazy plot turn that cast a shadow over my enjoyment of the whole film, and it felt surprisingly generic and underwritten compared to the first film. None of the characters except Wade himself really resonated with me.
The Ponderer kinda thought the same thing but she was not really "fridged" out of the movie...mixed feelings but spoiler alert...potentially fixed?
Anders Grimfist I don’t think the fact that it was fixed invalidates it still being an example of Fridging. I also just don’t like the choice to fix it, since that undermines the entire emotional journey of the movie. Doing it in the first place was a massive mistake, but not sticking to it in the end was just gutless.

Bullshit. Would you rather Vanessa be a damsel in distress like in DP1? It doesnt matter, because either way Dead Pool 2 was going to be a great movie. It was better than the first in every way. Thank god for not wasting time on his origin or girlfriend. This isnt a rom-com. In the comics , Vanessa and Wade are broken up anyway, and are mortal enemies . Vanessa is the superhero Copycat in the comics.

I think Mark's complaint about Solo is unfounded. Prequels aren't always meant to be consumed in the in universe chronological order. Like, you don't have to watch Solo before you watch Episode IV, and instead of the filmmakers making a mistake showing Han to be a reluctantly good guy here, maybe they just meant for it to seen by people already familiar with the characters. It's like a flashback in a movie, do you evaluate that content as if you had seen it when it occurs chronologically?

Solo and Deadpool 2 both have multiple characters I'd rather the movie have been about. I liked Solo more than I expected to and I wasn't all that into Deadpool 2.
Why I have not seen Solo.
Infinity Wars, Jurassic Park, Incredibles 2, Ant Man 2, Deadpool 2. All released within 2 months of each other, and at 75$+ to take my family it’s to much! If they had released Solo at Christmas we’d have gone to see it!

Criticizing Darth Vader as a boy and the politics is completely ridiculous and idiotic. The whole premise of the prequels is to tell the story of how an innocent young boy becomes evil and how one man secretly manipulates the government to create the empire and the civil war that is star wars. The fact that you cannot understand and enjoy a simple well written story is absolutely mind boggling.
I think bringing in an adult Ezra Bridger into the series may bring back some of the Star Wars fans that have thrown up their hands
