The ride on these roadsters is absolutely transcendent. I have a Raleigh DL1 which predates your Gazelle by over half a century, but has the same giant roadster wheels and crazy laid-back frame angles. I do not have a dynahub. Raleigh made a version of the DL1 called the Superbe which had a Sturmey-Archer Dynamo hub - which was notorious for several things, however, producing reliability electricity was not one of those things it was noted for. Your Shimano Dynamo hub is about a million times better. You also have brakes that actually work. The rod brakes (no cables) on the old Raleighs were not famous for their rapid stops. And here in the mountains of Central Florida, I wouldn't mind having your 8-speed hub either. Beautiful bike. I hope it carries you through many many many happy miles.
I am ordering one from a bike shop . Total price is around 1800 . But I am paying 150.00 for shipping from warehouse in Atlanta , 145.00 tax and they are putting it together at shop . It sells for 1400 though.
Yours appears to have a hand operated rear brake. That is more desirable to me than the newer models which seem to only come with a coaster brake for the rear. Are you able to backpedal?
A lovely review my friend, thanks for sharing it :) Just a couple of quick questions, if you don't mind? It's a little hard to tell from the video, but are the frame tubes that connect to the Bottom Bracket shell welded, rather than lugged? If that is the case- and it looks like it is- that's a real shame on a bike like this. Not sure why Gazelle would do this to a lovely traditional bike? I'm pretty sure the older ones are all lugged- as is my Pashley (which is actually inferior to your bike in many other ways.) The other question is, you mentioned that you were going to run a cable from the dynamo to the rear light- did you have to change the front dynamo to do that? AFAICT, that front dynamo is one of shimano's 2.4w ones- as I have on my pashley roadster, this wouldn't be enough power to supply both a 100 lux front light and a rear light..or is there something I'm missing? And finally, how do you feel about the bicycle now several months later- are you still in love with it, or have any niggles shown up? Many thanks :)
Sorry for the late reply. I have another detailed review of my bike on UA-cam under the same name. The bottom brackets are welded😟. I used the same dynamo to light both the front 100lux and rear light. I used Busch and Mueller lights for both front and back. I love the bike. I would not change anything on it. I have not had any problems with it, it’s almost 2 years old
Nope. Several companies, like Axa or Busch & Müeller make very nice Dynamo hub headlight+taillight combinations. This was just a strange and very non-typical piece of cost-cutting on the part of Gazelle - and I'm betting American market only. In Europe they almost certainly would come with the full headlight/taillight combination.

Do you do urban riding? How do you use it? (It's very pretty!)

What is the frame size, and your height, if you dont mind me asking?

Are the chain and skirt guardsuards plastic or metal?
It looks like plastic laminated fabric. It still looks brand new after 2 years. I take good care of my baby, wash and wax it too
Is the handle adjustable or fixed in that position?
The hanle is adjustable
how much did you paid for it?
$1300 delivered
You probably need to replace the dyno-hub if you also want it to power a rear light.
