You’ve discovered the holy grail of fabrication. That’s what I’d call service. Unfortunately, there’s no such service in my country, but if there was, I would certainly use it. Great video as always, thanks for sharing.
not much stops someone from setting such a thing up. small independent backyard shops doing jobs for an umbrella group that handles all the ancillaries. it's the kind of thing anyone with a garage and no car can set up. so, tom, got a garage?
Send cut send and fusion 360 have opened up entirely new worries for my project. It's ridiculous how fast they get the parts delivered too. I'm a huge fan of their live tracking updates.
@kathysarmcandy1992 I started watching Lars Christensen's channel. ua-cam.com/video/A5bc9c3S12g/v-deo.htmlsi=99wxxcrwi1_EZ76o Great content, it is a little different to draft this way (and sometimes it pays to be more conventional when drafting for 2d cutting). I hope this helps.
I think the word you were looking for is "efficent". Sure you can probably do all those parts in your garage by yourself, BUT i'm almost certain that you would likely waste more money in material because the messure's werent 100%. Plus the frustration if you mess something up. I think the prices you said are more the reasonable and 1 week make&deliever time is awesome! Keep it up my friend, greets to you and everyone here from germany😎🇩🇪
Yes - efficient. It used to be that the CAD work would take me longer than the layout and cutting. Now there really is no comparison. I can't make all of these parts in these time frames...I've got a regular job. It's very efficient use of my time.
They are also pretty handy for household projects. I've got a couple closets that need some shelves and are anything but square. Send off a file, cut out of chipboard, see if it fits, make necessary adjustments (tolerances being what they are when starting with cardboard-aided crafting), then have version 2 cut out of baltic birch. Freaking awesome service.
For years I've put off tackling projects that would require fab work or custom solutions because I don't own a welder and I also don't like paying exorbitant amounts of money for something as simple as custom motor mounts, basic support/locator brackets, switch panels, etc. Well... now SCS has forced my hand. They basically took care of the _other_ 95% of fab work besides the actual welding itself. Now I've really got no excuse! Definitely a game-changer for those of us hobbyists who are fab-shy.
Hello Sir It's always a pleasure to see you working on this amazing project Car ! Can't wait to see the next episode ! Have a good one Daniel from Switzerland 👌👍👏✌️
Man I absolutely love SCS. I've spent a lot of money with them and it has elevated my part/project quality and the overall fit and finish. Love those guys. I'm lucky and live 1 state over from their Nevada location so my stuff always shows up fast :)
Great video. Timely as I am working on designing a new bike and needing some flat plate cut and bent to achieve what I want and was planning to use SCS. A fellow Canadian I will be sure to use your link.
This is very timely, I was just thinking of getting some pieces cut out with water jet or laser & wondering where to go. Thanks for the 15% discount! There are actually quite a few mail order outfits, I was hoping for somebody local in Canada. I had a sprocket done up by Laser Equations here in Calgary once several years ago, I don't think they do small jobs anymore.
I've used many services over the years and they all seem to drop off after a while. As they get more regular work, they won't take your order or it takes weeks. Some companies still entertain small jobs and I do my best to support them. My last laser supplier started charging $250 just to look at the job - that was enough to say "no thanks".
Of course you offer a discount code the week after I get my first order from SCS! I'm curious about those bulkhead connectors - did you have to weld one plate with a round hole to the plate with the hex hole, or were you able to order the part as you show it in the video?
@@ThrottleStopGarage Whereabouts in Alberta? I live in Calgary. Perhaps one day viewers could come check out the Volvo? I was keenly interested in the carbon-fibre body panels, that was just magnificent.
Came here to say the same thing. Sadly I think the volumes may not be there to make it viable here. All we do is hope that one of the various local water/laser cutting companies strikes a licensing deal to offer a .au version.
I’ve had good luck buying sheet steel at AirTech, on 5th ave north. They have a full CNC fab shop on site, but seem happy to sell metal to Joe Blows like me who walk in off the street.
Does this service offer milling and metal lathe type services? Sounds like a great service honestly. I’m not really into the cad or fusion 360 type stuff and I’ve always tried to avoid it. But anymore I’m almost being forced into a corner with it. I really need to get involved and roll up the sleeves as they say and dig in. I’m just a hobbyist of all things and an Ace of none. But I do love building things with my hands and fabricating things with metal. Them parts look great. I’m intrigued.
The don't offer turning or milling at this time. I understand the CAD issue completely. I never wanted to learn and would just do it manually. I'd try a free version and it would take longer to draw than to just make the part. Fusion is really good for being able to break that barrier. SendCutSend also have a basic shape library and you can dimension things in on the website. I've now changed my tune and it's easier to draw up a part and send it off than it is to lay it out.
It's so satisfying when one finds a supplier that actually meets ones needs. Let's hope for your sake Send Cut Send continues
Completely agreed.

Sorry to hear that your country hasn't got such a service.

There really isn't an excuse for hacking when it's this easy and convenient.
@@ThrottleStopGarage I took drafting in school, but just can't get my head around 360. Suggestions?

That's great to hear. I've yet to use their other materials, but will for sure as the project moves on.
A hundred channels have suggested em, but you have finally convinced me
Glad this video was helpful.
Great video. As a fellow Canadian I appreciate the info and background.

Great review! I’m lucky enough to live very close to Send Cut Send!!!
That's awesome!
Thanks for this, I've been debating building a table.
Glad I could help!
this man is a true artist craftsman. thank you sir
Thanks 😊
Great review, thanks! didn't realize they shipped to Canada now 👍
Thanks. It's a game changer.
I use Send Cut Send for quite some time. They're pretty good.

Thanks for the review. Great video

Thanks for the great info.
Your build is inspiring.
Glad to help
4:00 That's a great bracket idea. You could probably do it by hand, though, as you don't need all six faces but only two
That's how I did it in my first frame video - just two blocks welded on. This is a much neater option and won't rust.

Now, if they would just send parts to New Zealand!
And Australia
I'll mention it to them.

It's two parts and I welded them up. It will be in my next video. Lots of fun making what looks like a simple part.
I am impressed.
Thanks.
Thx for the info live in Alberta getting things done here at local shops is costly

On those brake line brackets, the pieces that have the hexagon cut internally, was that a file from their website? Or did you do that in Fusion?
I used fusion to draw them. They have a hex tool.
Good to know. Thanks
Happy to help
Hey that was a great review. I have wondered how they do with shipping to Canada now. Thanks for that

Thanks. In the next video I'll show what went into making them. They're so simple that with SCS - you can just have them made.

Is Autodesk Fusion for personal use enough to create the designs?
Yes - that's what I'm using. You just have to track how many designs you have editable.

Do you have a link to the file for the zip tie tabs?
Not at them moment. I'll set something up in the future.
