For those unaware, this is 2023 worlds. In 2024 worlds he got silver in 100m and 400m. Just a few days ago he qualified for the 2024 Paralympics with two PBs in 100m and 400m. A lot has happened since this clip, so though this sucked, things got better!

I wouldn't say disqualified, but he was scratched from the line-up. Being disqualified is what judges do, being scratched means that for some reason out of your control, you can no longer compete.
The other athletes comforting him and trying to help shows their character so well. None of them want to lose to their competition, but nobody wants to win this way either. It was so kind of them to try to help him.
@@SaintShion I couldn't agree more. I know people want to win, but seeing things like the crossfit athlete who drowned right in front of other athletes who were right next to him and lifeguards just makes me so grateful to see there are still people who will help, even if it means they don't win.

Less than a year later, he has set new personal best in the hundred meter and the 400 m and has qualified for the Paris Olympics. I’m claiming he will bring home silver or gold and I’m claiming gold for Tara.🎉🎉 it was all set up for amazing comeback. You needed the time to rest and reflect and get your mind back into the game.

They do. The IPC hires prosthetists to be at world events and Paralympic Games. They are in the village as they need a whole work shop. Teams like the US will often have someone available during warmups, but once you hit the call room and head to the track, that’s it. No one can help you. Those are the rules. I’ve been to 2 Paralympic Games. You got to check your equipment and have your shit together and you’d be surprised how many people know of problems and think “They’ll last one more time.” As someone who was crazy about my equipment being 100%, I could not believe what athletes knew were a problem, and just figured it would continue to be alright. This was more than a small fix. The bolts are threaded into inserts that are moulded into carbon fibre. If you strip them, it’s not a 2 min, side of the track, repair. It can be repaired. But not there.
They have to have their own and pay for all equipment. He has found the best equipment and specialty designers and tool kits in Europe. It’s been trial and era getting to where he is and all he has learned in a year about his fittings and blades. 👏🏽. Go Hunter 🏃🏼

I think having a prosthetist at any event for Paralympics should be a no brainer. And having back up equipment and tools.
