Great. Being in the Coast Guard Auxiliary out of Bodega Bay, 30 miles north of the Golden Gate, I have been on a 47 many times. And like ANY boat, it gets REAL small out there. Because people are so out of touch with nature, we can forget the power of wind and the sea.
Wait till you are on one that takes a 360 roll, lots of fun. I was on a 44 that took a 360 roll scary stuff there. These boats are put through anything and everything. The COAST GUARD plays where others fear to tread.
They picked a very nice time, long period swell, no cross swell, no wind, full daylight, idling in the impact zone, just gunning the engine a bit to take the hits, so i would assume it was for practice and training.
Yes. They do this all the time up and down the Coast Guard. If you UA-cam search "Coast Guard in Surf", there are some nice vid's out there. The 47's came online after I retired, replacing the 44ft motor surf boat which wasn't as high or fast, it just used pure power to punch through a wave (and it was a STEEL HULL boat). Even the new fast response boats have roll over ability. ua-cam.com/video/hGf6Qp-9NPs/v-deo.html
Awesome shots. Thx for sharing. To all the men and women of the Coast Guard “Thank you for your service”
Best footage yet! Love the 4K video and the waves..... Keep the videos coming!
The designer and builder of the vessel must be proud of the way she gets through the breakers.
Amazing! Station Morro Bay is just as impressive. Thanks for this video!
Love the coast guard footage, total badasses! I surf out at OB and have seen them training in the big stuff on a few occasions.
OB is my turf.

Thats darn impressive, especially when you see the bow of the boat get hammered by the lip. Tough boats.
That looks amazing.
Simply awesome!!!
Amazing footage.
So cool 🔥

Poetry in motion, those vessels are built like tanks. God Bless the USCG.

Fantastic! I want to take a ride on a Coast Guard rescue vessel in big surf.

This is motivating to see and promote how we train to be Semper Paratus.

This is how they thin out the new recruits 😃

@@tc1uscg65 That is a bit dark sir. Funny but dark.
Are all the crew harnessed in while doing this?
멋지다!!!!
They better not have closed the beach... that is pristine OB there should be guys charging.
Why is no one surfing there!?!?
Nice wave hits you the wrong way the boat will go over.
How do they not end up being pushed back onto the beach

Not worried about damaging a boat other people paid for.
If the boat gets damaged by this, maybe it shouldnt be a coast guard boat in the first place then.
