Creating My Dream Sewing Space: A Tour of My New Workshop
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 чер 2023
- Join me on an exciting journey as I move my dark and cramped 140 square feet sewing area (housed in my dining room) into a stunning 350 square feet dream sewing space in my very own backyard shed.
I'll show you almost every step of the process, sharing my design and storage ideas. I hopefully say goodbye to my cluttered workstations and hello to an organized and inspiring environment where creativity can truly flourish.
To start, I tackled the insulation, ensuring a comfortable and temperature-controlled workspace. Next, I installed pegboard, the ultimate organizational tool, to keep all my sewing and leatherworking supplies neatly arranged and easily accessible. Adding drywall not only enhanced the visual appeal but also helped improve the overall acoustics, perfect for recording high-quality videos.
With a carefully planned floor layout, I curated a space that balances style and efficiency.
Join me on this incredible DIY journey that I thought I would never get to share

“…drywall is the devil”…omg I was dying! Congratulations such a cool well deserved space. May you have many fruitful creative adventures 🌷
I love the music you use
Sewing Space Goals!!! It's AMAZING!. Great job 🎉
That is "sew" 🤭 awesome.. Great job, exciting.. I look forward to your videos 😄
I'm always tempted to put a "sew" counter in my vids; I find myself saying it A LOT!! 🤣
Very nicely done. So cool to see the time lapse progress. I look forward to seeing what you make next!
What a genius idea, to line all the walls with pegboard!!! 👍🏻
I've dreamed of that for a while so this was the perfect opportunity
So exciting! It is neat to see all of your hard work come together in creating your new space. 🎉
New subscriber ❤congratulations on your new craft space
Congratulations on your new space! I am absolutely jealous. I cut fabric on my living room floor, sew in my kitchen, press/iron in entryway and do everything else either on the floor or the coffee table. Pure chaos. Having a dedicate space is going to be awesome. And thanks for addressing the window situation. I was worried for your fabrics.
I can completely empathize with your situation. At one point I was going upstairs to iron (which definitely didn't encourage me to iron 😒). But I think it's amazing that despite the space, you still make things!
How exciting for you. Can’t wait to see the finished space
How fantastic! I can't wait to see the finished space and what you will create there.
I can't wait to share it (once I figure out the rest of it)!
When I designed my new crafting/sewing room last year, I made sure everything has either wheels or sliders so I could easily move everything around for versatility & cleaning. Congratulations on your new studio! I’m loving mine ☺️. BTW big glue traps work great to catch creepy crawlers or even mice which inevitably find their way in.
awesome - it is the creators dream!!
I love it and get so inspired to actually make stuff now!
Great space, and well done to you for the hard work you have done getting it to this. It will look amazing when complete x
Late to the video, took a break from UA-cam. So excited for you! love it!!!!!
That’s perfect and fabulous and now I have shed envy, also so impressed with your diy ability even more fabulous now xx
Just don't look too closely 👀👀
Proud of you. Looks great.
That's an amazing space! I'm very happy for you.
Thank you!!
What a lovely space! Your hard work definitely paid off!
Thanks so much! 😊
JEALOUS!!!!!!
Wow! What a fabulous work space!😍
Thank you! 😊
I love your space!
Well, if you've just done all that, I should get my arse in gear and finish some trousers I started in April! Fascinating build, congratulations on the new space and here's to new projects.
Oof, my unfinished pile is...overwhelming. Best of luck to you!
I have to only allow myself one project at a time, otherwise I get overwhelmed and finish nothing.
Wow!
Very envious, No way will the fabric stash diminish, saw some lovely space in the eaves to hide fabric !!! 😂
Honestly, an amazing space and love the extra roof lights
I may or may not have leather up there now 😳
That made me laugh so much 😂
No wonder you’ve been AWOL - that’s a huge job you’ve accomplished. It looks fantastic and I’m sure it will inspire you. As an owner of an almost permanent trash highway myself, I’m dead envious. 🤣
I keep shifting it around while trying to get everything else together. Pretty soon I think the whole outer wall is going to be covered and it'll turn into a trash speedway!
Katie, I am so inspired. I am in the process of designing the shed I am going to order for sewing. How big a shed did you start with?
This is 14'x24' and after a year it's busting at the seams. But I love it SO SO much!
I love your space, what about heat?
I installed a mini-split that does both air conditioning and heating. It works really well for the space in both warmer and cooler temps.
Beautiful! What did you put on the floor? Congrats!
I used those rubber/foam workshop floor puzzle pieces. They're super cheap and easily replaceable, and provide a little insulation so the floor doesn't get super cold. Also, I can lay fabric out on the floor and pin directly into the foam and I don't feel bad if I spill anything on it.
Awesome space and fantastic work! 🎉 Go you! So looking forward to seeing what creativity a dedicated bespoke workspace frees up. It feels like room to think and make and play.
And yep, however silly it looks, if it works for you, it ain’t silly. 🌻🛼🪁
And I'm okay with embracing the silly! Sometimes it helps balance the bad!
