Mystic Timbers is the best coaster at kings island. It would be great #2 to a Mack extreme spinner like ride to happiness. In the current lineup Orion is the second best coaster. A pretty big drop off after Orion to #3 diamondback. If the rattle goes away it gets much closer to #2. Another big drop off to Beast at #4. Another small drop off to banshee which jack hammers a bit and is actually one of the weaker B&M inverts because of that. If it didn’t jack hammer it would be closer to Diamondback. Bat is #6 and is an underrated coaster. I think a lot of the family coaster less the Vekoma hang and bang work well for KI. I also think Racer and adventure express work well for the park. Invertigo and flight of fear could go away and I wouldn’t care. Backlot is also fine.
I feel like Orion is a miss in my book. I enjoy it, but take my last trip to KI. I rode Orion once, then got on Diamondback 20 times. Still, KI is amazing and no matter who you ask, you will hear a different ride as their favorite. Just an excellent lineup.
Thanks for being objective. Orion has its moments, but it’s a classic 7/10 coaster. After the speed hill, the ride is basically over. Diamondback has a much more rewarding and thrilling layout, and I consider it the best ride in the park for a reason
@@marcusmcgraw3519Strange claim, as the banked airtime hill right before the last one into the brakes is the second strongest airtime moment after the speed hill, while DBack is the ride that dies after the midcourse. Yes, you still get airtime, but boy is it slow and repetitive.
@@chadsstillalive I agree on the last twist being an interesting final element of Orion, but it feels like it leaves plenty of speed on the brake run as it slams to a stop. DBack does not have a longer layout than Orion. It’s about 50 feet shorter. People love to say Orion is too short, while ignoring that fact. DBack just runs way, way slower, especially after the midcourse, hence it lasts about 15-18 seconds longer. Also, Orion’s prime ride time is longer than Mystic’s, yet you never hear anyone call the latter too short.
