"This interview/discussion will cover the ways I have found to survive and thrive over the course of 44 years as a professional quilt artist and how I see the future for quilt artists. We will be talking in my Gallery/studio in San Francisco. I’ll be talking about how to find sustainable fabric, how to build and maintain an online presence, and how to meet curators who can be helpful. I’ll talk about the place of technique in my own work and how to find your own voice.
There may be time for a Q&A, so bring your questions!

So many videos on UA-cam that say fast-easy-quick-quilt in a day-go-go-go. I notice those videos are mostly from retail sellers. I like that he said he wasn’t into production.
I am catching this interview many months later. Loved the interview, and of course Joe's artistic quilts. I wondered though how Joe finishes the quilts for display - does he still use wadding? Quilting patterns? Frames for mounting the quilts?
If you look at Joe's UA-cam videos, he most often faces his quilts, and yes uses batting. For the most part he works improvisationally.
I am a quilt artist too!
I thought Mary Schafer was Joe Cunningham’s mother.
