    In Denise's case, she committed several offenses that she would have been fined for in addition to having to pay her ex husband half the winnings, instead the court just made her pay him everything. Her financial burden from her offenses is not really different either way, but it sets her case as an example to anyone who may think of doing the same thing. They more so changed the impact of the case rather than the outcome.

    the hedonic treadmill concept is so important to be aware of if you want to be happy and mentally healthy in our hyper-materialist world. chatters are acting like it's bullshit but then they'll wonder why nothing seems to make them happy.

    • @Vincisomething
      @Vincisomething Рік тому +8

      Seriously, if I was chatter I'd be listening lol. If you think money is a cure all for anything, that's going to be a life lesson learned the hard way if you have nothing else to fall back on.
      Idk if chat will understand this but a guy with $10 million can be unhappier with someone with $10k in their bank account and I'm not just talking about mental health. Having your happiness dependent on how much money you have is a very unstable foundation.
      Yes, money helps a lot, but your subconscious thoughts about money can also affect your money habits. So if you have bad spending habits that won't change just because you have a lot more. It's like what are you going to do if it's all gone?

      when you eat some breakfast on a weekend, you probably feel quite neutral. that's the 5 he was talking about. maybe you just got gifted a new game and you get excited, that might be a 7. eventually, once you've played the game for a while, there's no excitement from getting the game anymore. your happiness is a 5 again.

    Even tho he did a shitty job of explaining wealth does not equal happiness, he is right. After a certain amount of money earned, it will not effect your happiness. And after living a lavish lifestyle of being a lottery winner, that lavish lifestyle you're living becomes the norm and you won't get as much happiness from it as you once did. And most of the time more money = more responsibility which most people just can't handle.

    Hoarding money is not a bad thing after winning the lottery. It's better than wasting 100 of thousands on a bunch of dumb trash. Buying a house is where you start off, live comfortably NOT luxurious. Then pay off your debts or whatever. Then you can spend on a vacation whether its for yourself or family. But don't over do it by buying mega expensive cars and such. Cuz people don't understand that having a lot of money doesn't matter if you're not gaining money, it will run out eventually. So if you ever win, lay low and make sure your family is doing well. Don't overspend on friends, it's nice to wanna treat them but don't buy stuff for them your wouldnt buy for yourself.

    18:00 xqc is speaking facts here, no matter where you’re at in life, shit becomes normal, and the shit life throws at you is what dictates your normal functions.
    So money may bring temporary happiness, but say your mom dies or you start losing interest in the things you had when you had no money, like friends, normal routine, certain family members, ect.
    After awhile those things become normal. It all levels out. Life is a bitch.

      You could be given 5 million dollars, but if you're still financially illiterate, that 5 million is going fast. It doesn't matter how much money you have if you still have the same habits and mentality before.
      Having loads of money itself doesn't automatically cure you of physical or mental ailments. You can use the money for therapy and hospitals, but the general concept of being rich isn't what fixes that.
      Unless you know how to find internal happiness or happiness that isn't dependent on material things, deep down you're probably going to feel the same with 5 million as you did with 5k in the bank account. Things might look different on the outside until the money goes.
      Your subconscious and conscious thoughts about money is important too. Some people learn at a young age that "money is the root of all evil" or that all rich people are bad which can subconsciously effect their money habits unless they become aware of it. You may not consciously think "if I have all this money it means I'm bad" but subconsciously you may overspend or give away money too easily without knowing why you do it
