This has to be the coolest monosynth I have EVER heard. I've been following it for awhile and it's awesome that you got the first one! Congratulations, it looks and sounds incredible! Enjoy!
Beautiful work. I saw one of these in an LA studio last year and it really blew my mind. Amazing you have one. First time I've experienced gear lust in years.
Man. It sounds really "vintage" and at the same time quite futuristic and uncompromising. Truly a beautiful piece of hardware. I'd LOVE to get my hands on one and go crazy spending hours getting sounds out of it. Luckily for me, it's more a matter of "when" than of "if"
+mootbooxle Thank you very much. My Knifonium is currently being modified to put velocity sensitivity into the keyboard. Some initial hardware bugs are also being fixed. I am hoping to do a new demo soon. I really miss it that is for sure. I appreciate your videos also by the way.
I have an M3 Hammond organ, and no digital or traditional analog style organ sounds quite like it. But it only makes that organ sound, this thing seems fairly versatile!
Very nice synth, but given it costs the same as a Schmidt, I would go for the Schmidt if I had the money. Also, for that price it should at least have MIDI in, hard sync and analog delay.
+Ken Hughes It is an amazing synth. I just got it back from Finland after having it modified for velocity sensitivity as well as getting some hardware bugs fixed. That is the good news. The bad news is that envelope 1 is not working properly anymore and Jonte and i are trying to figure out what is going on. Something happened in shipment clearly. He was going to send over a new envelope board for me if need be. It is frustrating because now that several issues have been addressed it can be integrated with my Cirklon sequencer much more cleanly. It has a killer sound that no other synth can come close to. Hopefully, it will be back in top shape shortly.
+kpsiegel That was only partially a joke. It is truly fascinating, the array of sounds you can coax out of that. I am now in my early 60s and I have always been intrigued by interesting sounds. I used to love making experimental tapes with sounds created by walkie-talkies, vacuum cleaners, short-wave radio static, etc. Thank you for posting this.
And then some idiots will yell there is no difference between the real analog thing vs digital emulation or crowd can not tell the difference and then such shit will bankrupt manufacture of real analog thing! And then even if you want you cannot buy real analog thing!!! P.s. I come multiple times to videos of UA-cam where they compare real analog thing and digital emulation of it where reviewer and crowd in the comments yell: there is no difference between the real analog thing and digital emulation and that's why you do not need to buy real thing! But with my own brain and with my own ears i clearly hear the difference. And the real analog thing sounds more interesting!!!
Unless you wanna spend $15000+ I guess the plugin is good enough, I'll take it. I use it almost in every project I do. Of course I would like the real thing, but for the time being I don't feel that the plugin does any injustice to the hardware. I'm more than happy with the plugin.
@@woodzzy1 totally agree. The plug-in version is way more convenient as well and not as much risk of error or maintenance issues. It’s def one of the best analog emulations I’ve ever heard.
@@vaaalsongs4867 I got the plugin version because I kept hearing everyone say how realistic it was and also was thrilled to get a polyphonic Knifonium. The plugin sounds good but it does not sound like my Knifonium. The big tell is when you push the filter. Also, the amp saturation sounds much better on the actual synth. I am sure they can improve it over time and, again, it is a nice plugin that I am glad I own.
I'm sorry to be so pushy, but I got really amazed listening to this beauty. GOOD GOD LISTEN TO THAT VCF! 18 db/oct? Or what, 16 or 20? sounds enough differently from 12 and 24 or am I missing something? (Is it all built with tubes? I mean, Vco/Vcf/Env .. Tubes signal generation and processing instead of Op Amps?) Anyways, sounds AMAZING. Sorry for the thousands question, it's just - Wow.
I listened to other Vacuum tubes synthesizers, but this here has got a level of cure in the harmonic generation circuits, with those voltages (anodic tube voltage, around 250/300 Vdc? ) that is amazing. I honestly wish you to keep on discovering beauties like this :D
Yes unfortunately it is very expensive but the good news for me was the first batch was significantly less expensive than the next units that will be produced.
Compelling timbre, to be sure, but awfully clicky attack throughout this demo... Good looking synth though. Definitely a conversation piece, if nothing else. Cheers!
Sometimes I feel like I’ve seen every synthesizer, then I’m greeted with this.
It is a very different animal. The plugin that is supposed to emulate it doesn't really just FYI.
Stopping by to say - NICE!!!
Wow! Awesome sound - used it to clean the tartar off my teeth 🦷 🤣🤣 I need one! 👍🏻
This has to be the coolest monosynth I have EVER heard. I've been following it for awhile and it's awesome that you got the first one! Congratulations, it looks and sounds incredible! Enjoy!
I have a GRP A4 also and I think they compliment each other nicely. I am planning on doing a track which features them both.
Hm, what did you hear in your life?
The sound is very pronounced, and rich from start to finish. I would definitely add one of these to my dream synth collection!

Yes just discovered your stuff. That Schmidt sounds awesome. Bloody expensive beast though. Will keep tuning in to see what you guys are doing.
Lot of capability in this peace of gear. Thx for sharing ✌️
That sounds supernatural 🌞
Best synth i have ever seen 😳😳😳
amazing piece of gear, props for having the taste to choose such a beauty!
That a great looking and sounding synth! I don't think I've seen one before.
Thanks for sharing this. Amazing synth.
blimey!
really nice with the sample and hold. nice upload - hope you're enjoying the synth-drums library.
Ouah! This S&H is magic!
HOLY mutter, that is a gorgeous enclosure! I'd love to hear it irl, I'm getting some interesting dynamics here
woah....that machine cuts through everything
My synth-senses are tingling.
I have finally found the sound of the Ecco the Dolphin CD OST!
@Damien it wasn't an arp. It was the sample and hold modulating the filter cutoff.
💙
superb
When that arp started ... mmm, could live on that sound alone for weeks ;)
oh sweet baby yoda !
NICE sounds!

kpsiegel
Thank you, I appreciate that very much! Looking forward to hearing what the thing can do with velocity! wow! Cheers :)
Great!
Glad you liked it.
great sound
Liking this demo
+Mark Keen Thank you very much. It is an interesting synth. I have had a lot of modifications done to it since this video was recorded.
it's like from a 1960s Frankenstein movie 💀...so lush 😎
I dont think ive ever quite heard synthesizers sound like this one
The tubes make a very big difference and that is why this would be hard to replicate in software.
I have an M3 Hammond organ, and no digital or traditional analog style organ sounds quite like it. But it only makes that organ sound, this thing seems fairly versatile!
Well in fairness it is a monosynth so it isn't the be all and end all. It has a unique character and does what it does very well.
Very nice synth, but given it costs the same as a Schmidt, I would go for the Schmidt if I had the money. Also, for that price it should at least have MIDI in, hard sync and analog delay.
You can't compare hand built artisan synth with a Schmidt.. Knifonium is for the true tube enthusiast
Hmm. Time to try and hoodwink some banker into lending me the money. That thing sounds super-chewy and delicious.

Would you play "Chopsticks" please?
Sure that would sound great on a monosynth. I'll get right on that.

Play Summer Madness, please!
Laurence Hawks It would be nice to sample them and put them on the Internet ;-)
wow !
This needs to be multisampled and chucked onto Kontakt. So us poor musicians can at least have a tiny bit of that fat flavour.

$30 at plugin alliance right now good sir
Plugin Alliance VST coming soon! :)
arrived ...
The plugin version sounds great, but it's difficult to beat the real thing.

vacuum tubes only?
Yes that is correct. All vacuum tubes.

It's all tubes. 24 dB filter.

The soul of Jimi Hendrix trapped in a monosynth? Amazing what they can do these days.
indeed. even hints of James Brown.
Freak in tubes
The Korg 770 sounds a LOT like this!
Nice synth but too rich for my wallet. Thanks for the demo, I enjoyed it.
Yes unfortunately it is very expensive but the good news for me was the first batch was significantly less expensive than the next units that will be produced.
i need to be religous a pray to a tube
It kind-of sounds very similar to a big Moog modular synthesizer.
Imagine an 8 voice poly version...
A good 100k probably
Can’t even imagine 8...but if they can make 4 voices, I will be very satisfied...
@@tianxing7795 there is plugin of this synth ;)
Hmmm Im starting to understand why they are so damned expensive.
Compelling timbre, to be sure, but awfully clicky attack throughout this demo... Good looking synth though. Definitely a conversation piece, if nothing else. Cheers!
That's a problem with tube vcas. I have 2 tube vcas and I have to adjust attack, cv bias to get around the click. Don't think there is a way around it
$17,500?? How much can I get for a kidney??
It was much less when I bought it. I had serial number 1.
@@kpsiegel a lucky guy!!! Did you have a chance to compare it with the plugin? 😅
My cat's verdict: do not like
My dog agreed with your cat! Great synth though.
I can't say it sounds particularly good to me. Too much key click.
wow excellent top end only recent synth with a tolerable top end
