The YVH saying "We are machine, we are better than Vong" in Lando Calrissian voice and the Yuuzhan Vong seetheing over that is funny.

Overall this one was pretty good, though I kinda wish they'd kept up the bleak tone for a bit longer and had everyone be on the run with the Vong ruling the Galaxy at least for 1 more book before having the Republic start striking back. I'd assumed that after the fall of Coruscant the Vong ruling the Galaxy would just be the status quo for a while and the heroes would have to take more time to pick themselves back up from near-total annihilation.
I agree that Jaina's arc was a lot better handled here than in Dark Journey, though I don't like her relationship with Jag Fel. It's not particularly interesting, and it's actively nonsensical since Jag Fel is an Imperial.
Still, the battles were cool, Wedge being the Republic's tactical leader was fun, the orbital bombardment scene was cool (though I do agree it's weird that the Vong just don't know that's a thing), and overall this was a very solid book.

@@critical_thinker0668 tbf Jag isn’t really an Imperial. He’s a Chiss and was only really associated with the Empire due to his upbringing

@@LegendsLiterature He's a member of the Empire of the Hand, which is seemingly a continuation of the Empire. It still seems to be authoritarian, as Thrawn thought the Empire was effective at keeping order and he's the one who founded the EOTH. The EOTH also was planning to hand their resources over to the Imperial Remnant during the Camaas crisis. Jag never seems to reject the Empire, or his upbringing, or authoritarianism in general. It just feels like it'd raise some issues for the daughter of someone who's planet was destroyed by that Empire.

Is this the one with Lord Nyax? He's such a fascinating character.

@@mloicano that’s the next one. This is pretty much entirely dedicated to the battle at Borleais
