Crypto is just good, but he has a specific kit that doesn't fit the majority of players desired playstyle so most players don't pick him up but every crypto main I've known is a god on crypto and actually contributes to the team in many ways. Tldr: Crypto is good and crypto mains are giga Chads
This comp could be insane for hyper-aggressive 3v3 teams like Aurora, Fnatic, Reject, etc... I think Crypto Alter Lifeline would be the most insane fighting comp, with in-fight reset potential with Lifeline (esp w gold res), full reset potential with Alter ult, and this Crypto ult + alter q combo for wipes against rotation heavy squads who camp with Wattson, Caustic, etc. Of course it would be an "all or nothing" comp, where if you don't frag out, your rotation potential is so limited (no Bang smokes, Cat wall, Valk ult, etc.) that you'll likely be in the bottom half of the lobby.
Agressive plays in ALGS is actually rewarding. Remember the old Furia when they invented the seer meta, while everyone else was playing Valk Gibby and caustic? They steamrolled the lobby.
this was in cc scrims, the last chance qualifiers for pro league, not really a pro scrim. I want to see it to the current pro league and see if it works.
Idk Ulter may seem like a counter to Caustic/hound/bang meta. Having a portal to the other side of walls without risking full sends into a defended Caustic building is inticing

This is exactly what I, a crypto main, imagined we could do with her (also, using her ultimate to travel to where the e-bomb is going off). I was also thinking the perfect third for this is Newcastle, who can help instantly on the enemy side of the breach with tactical or ultimate.
Im a crypto main for several seasons. Been waiting for him to get buffed for a while. Its been difficult cuz everyone assumed i was bad cuz im crypto. Now he gonna get nerfed bak down cuz anytime the pros play a legend, the legend gets nerfed.
Fellow Crypto main here and I share your same fear. I love where Crypto is at now, and feel greedy wishing that he had a genuine pass that's not tied to his tactical. I fear that that's never going to happen, which I guess is okay because his tactical can be so persistent. At the same time, I just hope he doesn't get nerfed because of this!

Only things I want changed is ability to grab evo caches with drone (a stretch, but I'd love to see it) but more is an easier time grabbing banners or scanning beacons with drone. Too often I feel like I'm spamming the interact button and still don't grab, the beacons should be able to be hacked from any angle.
They’ll probably just make it so that stun and/or shield damage still apply in the void. Probably just the stun, since that re-levels the playing field enough. It’s stun that lets them clean up so quick.
Ive been playing crypto again, you can also bait a rotation from another team leaving crypto drone and alters ult. Then you use alters ult to rotate behind them/on them and hit em with the crpto ult at the same time.

7:06 it likely would have worked but the delay between the emp and the placement of the portal gave the team inside the ability to caustic ult and counter the push as well as causing teq to take damage from his own ult. Better synergy and they easily win.
Doing a remote Crypto EMP with the speed boost perk is another way to implement this, with the first two teammates avoiding the EMP via portal, Crypto avoiding it by bring outside the radius, and the two players looking for an instant knock and porting back out, while Crypto speed boosts into an off angle and either reknocks or knocks the teammate ressing.
I love seeing creative new ways teams can use like this. Makes things really interesting. Now teams will need to try and find creative counters. Awesome.
Caustic will still be a counter to this because of his ult. As soon as a team gets emp'd the caustic on their team could ult near where the alter portal is
i feel like the counter will be to huddle when you hear enemies/a crypto so that you can alter portal together easily, but then i could see that being countered further with a smart fuse or maggie
Teams that have a aggressive style could definitely make this work, but I’m curious how wattson could be useful with this duo🤔 she can place ult so if teams try to use their abilities to stop the instant push the pylon can just remove them (plus if bad ult placement she can use ult accels to make up for it) However I think the duo can be useful for buildings mostly. Also seems fun to try😁 curious how other legends can be added to this duo as well!
This won’t get nerfed for a lot of reasons. The push requires a lot of coordination. It can be countered by another coordinated team and other ults and tacs. It’s dependent on building and you have to be able to run up to the building. It’s not as cheese as other synergies that have been in the game.
If this becomes too strong, maybe a fair Nerf would be that Crypto's Ult deactivates or destroys allies ultimate/euquipment. Not everyone will get the spacing just right. And might just slow down people that understand the spacing thing
It can be ran in algs but you have to finish a fight quickly you never know who is going to take that portal plus the nexus takes a while to activate. Although I say this is only good for a 3v3 in buildings.

That would make it the ultimate squad kill team for sure, but you wouldn't be able to lock down the new environment from a third party, so it depends on what kind of balance you're going for.
Wraith portal!!! In building and out. Ash ult to easy escap. Meyby some fence from watson or caustic tactical or ult if they will push will help but you still have stun from crypto
This used to be a thing already with Wraith's ult and Crypto's. I can't see how the devs legitimately nerf this, unless Crypto's ult destroys the Alter portal or somehow going through the portal cancels the activation of his ult at the last instant.
Cancelling the portal wouldn't fix it. They're already through by the time the ult hits. Maybe they decrease the post-portal phase time to make the timing harder.

I swear to God if the devs nerf crypto because of this. He is finally viable in all levels and I had to switch back to maining him because they didn't give Vantage any perks "Fix exploit that allows players to avoid EMP stun" I can see it happening but hopefully, hopefully, the devs continue their "let's allow players to have fun" streak and keep it in the game. It is really only useable with highly coordinated teams but that hasn't stopped them before
This will get used approximately 3 times in an actual comp game. I feel like they do this all the time where someone tries a new meta (usually teq who isn’t consistently making lans, do w that info what you will) and then everyone’s on bang blood caustic or whatever the current meta is anyway lol.
this is much better than horizon meta. Definitely a strong combo to push height. The problem is during rotation. For maps like storm point where there are so many open spaces, I don't think this comp is good to traverse open spaces.
No its not going to be meta in the pro scene. It may be tested, but the more teams uses it, the less value this comp will have. This comp also is limited to certain positions to be effective, and is extremely dependent on ultimates. Also therer are other comps and legends that can counter this depending on the scenarios.
I feel like I'd rather have a Wattson instead of a cat if they do run the defender legend. It just makes so much more sense to me to run her to stack more ult excels because without those this comp falls apart.
teq is the king of Inting and Oobing and this just allows him to do it on a a whole nother level lol port to run if it fails got crypto to destroy all traps and stun and then ctalyst to reinforce for a rez if needed but i cant help but think maybe bang is the better choice for the flex or maybe even a bloodhound to just further allow and aggresive Int (maybe its spelt Enting idk lol someone correct me)
The problem with these strats is they require a coordinated team. As a solo ranked player, this will never ever happen for me. Even with friends it rarely happens that anyone listens. Everyone is an IGL
Teams only get three legends to fill their comp. Dedicating two of those slots to execute a single move that's only effective when you're taking a building...
This is a very cool strategy, but I think the devs should find a way to prevent it because there is very little anyone can do to counter it. There's really nothing teams can do to turn the situation to their advantage. Without an alter of their own, the entire team is virtually guaranteed to be at a large health disadvantage, plus the stun and equipment wipe. Even if teams do have their own alter, there is a very small window to react with their own portal, and they'll likely be forced into a highly disadvantageous position Personally, I cant stand it when there's a meta in games where you HAVE to play around 1 specific strategy otherwise you're virtually guaranteed to lose. It makes games super stale
I don't know if devs will do anything right now due to the number of players playing crypto. I love to see this, I'm with you that I hate seeing everyone play the same legends (one of the games at ALGS had 100% bangs on teams and 85% blood pickrate). A lot of people have been comparing this to the rev/octane combo, but the difference was that those were two high picked legends that almost every team was running in pubs, ranked and comp. Plus that was when the jump pad had a sound bug.
HOTFIX incoming! Crypto's ultimate now destroys all enemy and friendly Alter Tactical's (Void Passage), Alter is not able to cast her Tactical for 5 secs after Enemy or Friendly Crypto ultimate is used in effected area.

The caustics traps get destroyed and even if his hot does significant damage the altar team can still go back through the portal

Crypto alter ash (ash uses marked for death to see who's within range of alters ult then they push)
if ash tactical prevented people from going thru ports or phasing(alter/ash/wraith) she would be competitively viable

Even if teams do have their own alter, there is a very small window to react with their own portal, and they'll likely be forced into a highly disadvantageous position
Personally, I cant stand it when there's a meta in games where you HAVE to play around 1 specific strategy otherwise you're virtually guaranteed to lose. It makes games super stale
I don't know if devs will do anything right now due to the number of players playing crypto. I love to see this, I'm with you that I hate seeing everyone play the same legends (one of the games at ALGS had 100% bangs on teams and 85% blood pickrate). A lot of people have been comparing this to the rev/octane combo, but the difference was that those were two high picked legends that almost every team was running in pubs, ranked and comp. Plus that was when the jump pad had a sound bug.

HOTFIX incoming! Crypto's ultimate now destroys all enemy and friendly Alter Tactical's (Void Passage), Alter is not able to cast her Tactical for 5 secs after Enemy or Friendly Crypto ultimate is used in effected area.
Bet Respawn will nerf this; most likely by making crypto’s ult delete Alter’s ult. so they can’t teleport back if they push
Yes these are scrims but these are challenger circuit teams not the actual pro scrims but still good teams
