First book I ever read was 'A Quest for Orion' by Rosemary Harris, I was ten and when I remember some! of the plot / characters I get flashes of what it felt like at the time emmersed in the story :)
My favourite book is Jamaica Inn by Daphne du Maurier. My favourite scene is where Joss Merlyn, the wicked landlord tells her he is haunted by the ghosts of those he's killed. Such a deeply atmospheric scene.

Hello my friend, I understand your pain. I used to have depression in my younger years as well, and it was truly an extreme burden on my soul.
You see so much pain in this life. People around you don’t seem to care about you, there’s disaster everywhere, and you lack motivation to get up and do daily tasks.
I want to tell you the most important thing you will ever hear in your life, and if you can grasp this…..it will change everything.
Are you ready?
Would you say that you are a good person? Take the time to think, then answer out loud.
If you faced God on judgement day, would you be innocent or guilty? Again, think.
If innocent, then let’s compare you to the standard of morality, The 10 Commandments.
Have you every told a lie? Probably thousands in your life time; me too. Have you every looked at a woman or man with lust? Jesus said that if you even look at a woman to lust for her, you’ve already committed adultery with her in your heart.
Have you ever stolen something, even if it’s small? Again, Answer out loud. I’m not going through the effort to type this for nothing, I care about you.
Have you ever killed anyone? No?
Well, Jesus who is God said, “if you hate someone without a cause, you’ve already murdered them in your heart.”
God’s word tells us that No liar, thief, murderer or adulterer will inherit the Kingdom of Heaven, but will have their part in the Lake of Fire which burns forever.
We have only looked at 4 out of 10 Commands.
Now, when God judges you on judgement day, will you go to Heaven or Hell?
God will justly condemn you to Hell for your crimes, and this fate is far worse than anything you will face on this earth. There is no way out, ever.
Does this scare you?
This didn’t scare me, because I thought that I’ll just tell God that I’m sorry and He will forgive me.
If a good judge on Earth can’t just forgive a murderer and let him go free, then Holy God cannot do that either. Justice demands payment for your crimes.
How can you escape this coming fate?
Someone would have to take your place in court for you to go free.
Here’s where the good news comes in, but it’s only good if you act on it.
2,000 years ago God came down to earth, a fully sinless man, and he took God’s wrath for you.
Do you know what He said when he died on the cross? He said 3 words, “It is finished.” In other words, the debt has been paid!
If you will see your sins as truly heinous as they are, that God himself had to be tortured for you, and turn from your sins to follow Christ Jesus, you will be saved. This depression you feel will be turned to joy, and you will not fear death. Because death will only bring you to the one whom you love. Read His love letter to you, the Bible daily and talk with Him. He promises to make you a new man with a new heart and new desires.

Fully healed! I will pray for you tonight my friend that you will pass from death to life and will be my brother 🩵 I beg you with urgency to seriously consider this message.

I'm visualizing myself sitting inside the bookstore, with my chair right adjacent to the window. I would read the book I desire, and occasionally will just take a deep breath and stare at the rain.
This feels incredibly sad. Rather than being inside somewhere cosy and warm and looking out at the rain, we are outside in the rain looking into somewhere cosy and warm. This brought me right back to a traumatic time of my life. My heart goes out to anyone right now who feels like they are on the outside looking in. You are not outside alone xx

The mystery shelf is quite a show.

They dont get too many looks.
But oh, that classic, vintage smell.
To certain collectors they would sell.
I pick up an Austin, peruse the verses.
She is the one that I want to purchase.
I see the clock, realizing it's late.
I run like I'm missing an important date.
I rush to the front desk, to purchas in haste.
One could spend far too much time in this place.
I thank Miss Andrea, and walk out the door.
I'll have to revisit that wonderful store.
The city seems cleaner, the air does as well.
And somewhere behind me, I hear that little bell.
Another wet customer, in from the cold. They too will get lost, in books young and old.
Almost at home, I look down the street.
A lonely policeman, walking his beat.
I step inside, hang coat up to dry,
Then look out the window, with a weary eye.
I set my purchase down and look.
Jane Austin wrote this wonderful book.
I put some water in a kettle. A tea is so nice when I settle.
As I read, I know I'm hooked.
Both to that store, and to this book.
I'll visit again, and if the rain washes,
