I would use this quilt to hike to Grey Owls Cabin in Prince Albert National Park here in Saskatchewan. I’m interested in quilts but have been hesitant because I am a cold sleeper. You consider this quilt to be rated at 30 degrees.
Stacking bags allows you to try some fringe weather conditions without buying more gear. The few times I go out below freezing I stack my gear and carry an extra pound or two in the trade.
You would rate the quilt closer to a 30° quilt. I just went on my first winter hiking trip this week and loved it! 30 miles, two nights. I would combine this with my current quilt so I don't have to keep borrowing my wife's heavy 15° bag in the future.
You believe it's closer to a 30 degree quilt comfort rating. And it would make a great quilt for my spring trips in 2023 to move from a sleeping bag to try out a quilt to make my sleep better to the Ouachita Mtns
Your suggested comfort rating of 30 degrees would be perfect for my ultralight summer bikepacking adventures! Space can be at a premium on these trips!
I own 3 of these and I must say that they are fantastic for the money. The large size is massive I’m 5’10” and it goes a foot above my head. And you can pair a regular size and large size perfectly for colder weather. As far as the temp rating it shows on the listing as a comfort level of 35 degrees and a limit of 25 degrees. I agree with the stated temps
A Thirty degree comfort quilt is great for me in Florida with trips to Georgia and the Carolinas. Enjoy your frank discussions and opinions of gear and watching your adventures with your pup.
I would give this quilt to my hubby!! He’s really tall and the long wide would be perfect! Also it would be good for three seasons, because you’ve rated it at 30°. 😊
I’m saving up and gearing up for an Appalachian trail Thruhike in the spring of 2024! I’m a side sleeper and I’ve been researching this company! Comfort rating is closer to 30.
I would give the quilt to my husband who loves backpacking with our grandsons. Your recommended 30 degree rating would be perfect for their spring and autumn camping adventures.
I would give this quilt to my Fiance which would be put to good use to help get her out backpacking with me as she is just starting to build out her gear. I think the comfort rating of this quilt in your opinion is 35 degrees. Cheers!
I tend to sleep pretty warm. I’d definitely end up using a quilt like this for backpacking during warm to cooler weather. Something rated at 30° would work well for me.
Hey Matty, if I won the top quilt I would use it for fall through spring hammock camping. I'm located in southeastern USA so it doesn't get crazy cold out here. You said that in your personal opinion based on your testing the quilt is a 30 degree quilt.
Thank you feather stone! If you're saying this is a 30⁰ quilt I'll believe you, I would love to fit this quilt into my collection for a loaner, or to implement it in my summer gear.
Love the channel and this “30” degree top quilt… I really need one for my girlfriend who is using my spare hammock these days (so I don’t have to sleep in a tent anymore!!!!). She has her eye on my quilt! Plus international women’s day will be coming and this would make a great gift and keep me in her good books for another year.. so really… this will make two people happy!
I have been looking at getting a quilt for quite a while, and this one has been one I’m really interested in. It would be a great summer quilt for the Sierra Nevada mountains, as the 30 degree comfort rating that you said would be about right for that. Thanks to you, and Featherstone for the giveaway!
30 degrees and I would use it for my first attempt at winter camping/ hiking. Currently using a inexpensive Naturehike 50 degree bag that I have managed to take to 40 degrees Fahrenheit, but that's about the limit. Happy new year buddy.
You stated that youbelieve that it’s more of a 30 degree quilt. If I won, I would give this quilt to my friend Dan. We do an annual Smokey mountain hike and he currently has a very heavy, traditional bag. This would be very good for him. We’re older and I try to encourage him to lighten his kit.
The moonstone top quilt, that you rated at 30 degrees would be great to use on my fall backpacking trip at picture rocks national lakeshore. Love your videos. Thanks
Thanks for this review. This quilt, with your recommended 30 degree rating and light weight, would be perfect for my late spring thru early fall bike packing & bike touring trips.
You told us it is more of a 30 degree quilt. I would love to lighten my pack & use this in my West Highland Way trek in May & add to my existing pack to layer & try my first winter camping in Manitoba. Thank you
We camp for various reasons, mostly canoe tripping, but also sea kayaking, back packing, winter hot tenting and car camping. This would be a 3 season bag my wife would use. We both have tired 40+ year old down bags. I recently switched to a quilt and she would too. You rated this quilt for 30 degrees as opposed to the 25 suggested by it's name. Thanks for the informative video!
You believe it is a 30 degree quilt. I would use it for transitioning from a sleeping bag to a quilt which I have wanted to do for a long time. Thanks and love your videos.
Thank you so much for the review! I'm a major tosser and turner when I sleep and have always been a car camper until last year when I did my first overnight hiking trip and I'm now in a research rabbit hole of finding better gear. On a canoeing trip I frustratingly unzipped my sleeping bag and turned it sideways and used it like, what I now know to be, a camping quilt and I actually slept a whole night through. This looks like just what I'm looking for! I heard you mention you felt it was a 30 degree F comfort rating.
The comfort rating for you is 30 degrees. I’m a cold sleeper, so probably a little higher for me . I keep my current sleeping bag unzipped a lot, and think a quilt would work better. Thanks Matty, we enjoy your videos!
You said 30° comfort level. I wish to have this to further my ultralight transition. I am working on a shake down on my bag. I like to backpack in cooler weather so the heat of the day is not so bad. I am about to hike the Foothills trail with my 13 year old in March when he is out of school. Keep up the good work! Love the videos.
Good 30 degree budget quilt great for canoe camping and backpacking trips early spring and late fall in Arkansas. Thanks for the review, I just found your channel.
I would use this 30 degree quilt as a replacement for my sleeping bag in the summer to lighten my load and combined with my bag in the winter to extend my backpacking into 4 seasons
I would use it for long, solo, multi day trips in the Sierras and other parks in California. 30 degrees comfort is perfect for 3 season trips in California.
As we move into 2023 I look forwrad to your advenetures and honest gear reviews. I love top quilts and this one would be used for a loaner to bring friends into the outdoors as well as to layer up for some colder season trips. 30 degrees seems to be the rating you would put on the quilt. Thanks for all of your work in putting together intersting and informative videos.
Thank you Featherstone! My new quilt, when it arrives, will replace my ENO way too short, not to mention not very warm, top quilt. I will be using this new quilt in my hammock of course, and also in my new X-Mid. Life is good!
Love all your reviews and a lot of your videos have saved me what little money I have for gear, a great deal of trail and error. That bag would double my insulation any night that isn't past 60*. You say its a 30 but that beats my only bag at 50 and I question the integrity of that rating. Id use this bag for winter camping (2 years and finally got a whole hot tent setup) but still need the sleep system for winter. Im sure everyones fighting for this giveaway but I know it would be put to use on my end.
A comfort rated 30 degree top quilt would work great with my winter hammocking adventures. I currently am looking to do some stacking for colder winter trips and this would be perfect.
I would love to win this quilt. I would certainly enjoy using it in my home state of Utah at high elevation. Even in the summer, a warm quilt is necessary above 10,000 feet. Based on how the loft of the quilt appears on video, I' would guess you think the actual comfort rating of the quilt is around 20 degrees F. It looks very puffy! However, you said 30 which still isn't bad.
Great video. I love my hammocks and I am looking up my hammock camping temperature options. You said you thought the temperature rating would be 30 degrees.
I plan on hiking thR AT in 2024 and this would be a great addition to my gear. The 30 degrees that you rated it would work perfect for my needs as I sleep warm in most conditions. Thanks for this great video and the information!
I'd probably let hubby have this one to use on summer trips or to layer over the quilt he already has to make a better sleep system for winter camping. You say, a 30 degree rating is probably more realistic.
Nice video and appreciate you doing the give away. I would use this as a summer backpacking quilt and to add to my old sleeping bag to make it winter worthy. You think it is good for 30 degrees.
Looks like a nice budget friendly quilt with good features. Been looking to switch to a quilt and this would fit the bill ! You mentioned that you thought it should be rated more at 30 degrees. This would be a great introduction for me into backpacking with a quilt instead of a mummy bag as I’m a side sleeper and would use this quilt fishing in California’s high Sierra ! Thanks again Matty…..
I have 4 kids and currently I am only outfitted to take 2.5 kids out in to the backcountry. I would use this to get more of us out at one time (the 2.5 kids I can take out does not include my wife. She is good natured about it but I know she's jealous.). 30⁰.
You said this is closer to a 30 degree quilt. I would use it for summer backpacking, and for a stacking quilt in the summer. Thanks for all of the great videos!
In the video you mentioned that the rating would be closer to 30 degrees. I would be using the top quilt as my first quilt. I am starting out in backpacking and a hammock system. I use a sleeping bag and pad right now. I want to upgrade but have to make wise choices. Gear is expensive for myself and my dog. I love your tips and suggestions for beginner hikers with tents, hammocks and dogs. As a Saskatchewan guy I also love seeing your trips in the mountains. Thanks for your videos!
A 30 degrees is perfect for summer and maybe 3 seasons backpacking in northern Québec. I would give that quilt to a friend that wants to go out in the wilderness with me next summer! Happy new year Matty :)
You mentioned this is a 30 degree comfort rates quilt. This would be perfect for me. I have only gone on one backpacking trip and my current quilt left a lot to be desired. I’m familiar to feather stone, I have the obsidian 1 tent and I love it. Unfortunately I am unable to buy their quilt due to lack of funds. If I did win it I would be happy to put it to good use here in Southern California.
I would use this for 2 things: 1) My current 3 season bag isn’t quite warm enough and this bag would get me to lower temperatures before needing to bring out the winter bag, and 2) adding to the winter bag so that I can camp deeper into winter when - IMO - camping is at its best. You regard this bag’s comfort rating as 30.
I heard you say the quilt was more a 30 degree quilt, which is perfect for me, since I don’t really do any winter camping. I’m 6’8” tall so I would use this quilt on all my backpacking trips here in Northern California. Thanks for doing the giveaway :)
You called it a 30 degree top quilt. I'm planning and building a pack for a two week section hike of the AT. I have purchased a Featherstone 2 person Granite tent and love it. The Featherstone company are Amazing to deal with as well.
I don't own a quilt, and this would be great to try out. In a hammock, and would like to try stacking it with a 20 degree bag. So if it's comfort rated for 30, then I should be good down to 10 to 15 degrees. Thanks Matty
I have been looking at, but not yet purchased, a quilt as a new backpacking option for me. The 30 degree rating with a good quality quilt would be a great option to start trying a quilt this coming summer. Thanks for the video/info.
I love your real world comfort rating of 30 degrees, it's helpful to hear how things test-out. I would use this alone for 3 season backpacking and possibly a winter layer. Thanks for all your content!
The comfort rating is 30 degrees .I plan on hiking the Laurel Highlands hiking trail in Pennsylvania it's a beautiful 70 mile trail that has shelters for year round camping. Been saving up for a UGQ bandit.but I'm not quite there yet
Matty certified at 30 degrees. Id be using this quilt for my annual trip to big bend in May, and fingers crossed for the skyline. Was very disappointed to have to cancel my reservation this last summer due to injury
I think a quilt with a comfort rating of 30 degrees is great for the Adirondack summers as well as stacking for added warmth. IMO it’s a sweet spot for a quilt. Great video as always!
Thanks for another great review. Great 30 degree rated quilt comfort rating. I'll be using this for winter nesting here canada and summer season camping 🇨🇦❄️
I would use this quilt to stake with my 25° mummy for winter and for my ultralight pack in the summer for my Colorado Trail thru hike. I would say you think the comfort rating is closer to 20° when bundled up but 40 45° when open. Appreciate you and you content. Stoked learning about this option.
Hi Matty. I would use this in my hammock to replace the synthetic sleeping bag I’ve been using upside down, kind of like a quilt. Dropping weight and bulk. And you think this is rated at 30 deg. rather than 25. 👍👍
This quilt would shave almost a pound and a half off my sleeping bag. I'd really like to lighten up my pack weight for backpacking. You rated it as a 30 degree quilt. Perfect temp rating for my area! Would love to win this giveaway!
I'd honestly give it to my brother-in-law, who got into backpacking only after meeting my sister. He's struggled with finding a sleeping bag that works for him with his incredibly broad shoulders, where he currently using a REI Magma is too constrictive. I suggested he test out my quilt to see if it felt better, and as much as he liked not being restricted, he truly would benefit from something wider. I've actually suggested this exact quilt to him, but even as the best-value quilt I know of, he can't justify getting new equipment as they just had their first baby. My sister and him only do 3-season backpacking in WA, in which case I've recommended a ~ 30 degree quilt as the sweet spot. Warm enough for those colder mountain nights, but also easy enough to open up when the weather is sweltering.
never owned a synthetic bag. i would use this on the AT, early summer when everything seems damp and cold. would think the comfort rating would be 30 degrees
I would use it backpacking with my 2 young boys . I have 2 good bags currently, so a third one is definitely needed. You mentioned the comfort rating was closer to 30 degrees
You thought comfort rating was more like 30 degrees rather than 25. As a 67 yo just getting back into backpacking after 50 years, I would love to lighten my sleep system load. Currently using a 3 lb bag. Thanks.
Hi! I work outdoors often for my work, and also help teach outdoor education to inner city highschool students. I frequently loan out my gear or am asked for recommendations so I try out a variety of equipment to give good advice! The 30°C quilt would be perfect for both my work, volunteering and my personal trips; I've been dying to try out a quilt but just could afford it 😅
You state the comfort rating is 30 degrees. I would use this for off trail multi day trips with my new hammock. If I ever use it in colder weather I'd use a sleeping bag liner with it and see how that works.
I have the moondance 25 in black and orange, definitely good down to 30° comfort wise. I've taken it all the way down to 17° with a sol bivy. Plan on buying one in blue for my thru hike. I'm using the black one I have now on my c and o canal trip and yoyo of the great allegheny passage
Happy New Year Matty. Thanks for starting off the new year with a cool giveaway. I am new to backpacking and have a sleeping bag but have been wanting to try a quilt as I move a lot when I sleep. I haven’t tried winter camping yet so I think the 30 degree would work perfect for my adventures in Ontario and Quebec. Thanks 😊
Thanks for the informative review. I am a day hiker trying to build out a kit as I hope to transition to a backpacker starting this spring. The 30 degree comfort ranking that you described fits my planned use case of 3 season backpacking in the northeast.
You think it’s better at 30 degrees. I’m just starting to shed my regular backpacking gear (sleeping bag, tent etc.) and moving towards UL. Could really use a light, great looking quilt like that. Cheers from Calgary
Thank you for the review! I received an email from Featherstone and found this review which is quite helpful. It would be nice to win and if I did I would use this top quilt with a summer sleeping bag I recently purchased and I do like it being light too. The 30 degree rating is perfect for summer use, I also like that it's functional with the zipper, straps to let more air in if needed and the straps to keep it steady with the pad. Awesome!
Im just trying to get Into camping. I'm definitely not rich. Lol! I'm actually going to try your diy hot tent stove and I'm going to try to make a hot tent out or a tarp as well. The quilt would help so much! I know you said it's 30 degree rated and not necessarily a winter quilt but I can stack like you said. 😉
I would guess that the 30 degree rating would be about a 45 degree comfort zone. Great for summer backpacking in Colorado - which is what I would use it for.

Ok thanks for the heads up I just got contacted by the scammer. Still keeping fingers crossed
That looks like it would be so comfy in my hammock set-up. Your assessment of the comfort rating is "More like a 30 deg top quilt"
30 degrees! I need a new shoulder season quilt, winning this quilt would be both timely and awesome.
I would use that 30° quilt for my summer hammock setup
I would love to have a summer quilt, and 30 degrees temp would be perfect. Cheers
I would use the quilt to augment my 40° quilt to allow me to take colder trips. With you thinking it’s a 30° quilt, it would be a perfect mate.

With a Matty Outdoors rating of 30 degrees, I would use the quilt while hammock camping all year except for summer.
I'd use the 30 degree rating to up the warmth of my current sleeping bag for winter camping
Matty comfort rated to 30 degrees. I would use this bag for warmer summer months backpacking in Montana. Thanks Matty and Happy New Year!
A Thirty degree comfort quilt is great for me in Florida with trips to Georgia and the Carolinas. Enjoy your frank discussions and opinions of gear and watching your adventures with your pup.
You said it was 25 but felt it was closer to 30. I would use it in the summer months when it still gets chilly at night. Thanks for the giveaway!
I would give this quilt to my hubby!! He’s really tall and the long wide would be perfect! Also it would be good for three seasons, because you’ve rated it at 30°. 😊
That 30 degree comfort quilt would be a great replacement to the cheap 32 degree limit bag I have now.
at 30 degrees this would be great winter layering with my UGQ
I would give this quilt to my son to get him started in hiking. You said this bag was more comfortable at 30 degrees.
Thx Matty & Happy New Year! I have an EE -10 quilt on order... getting excited for the delivery date! Good luck for those trying to win!
Hey Matty, if I won the top quilt I would use it for fall through spring hammock camping. I'm located in southeastern USA so it doesn't get crazy cold out here. You said that in your personal opinion based on your testing the quilt is a 30 degree quilt.

30 degrees. I’d used it to take my wife on her first backpacking trip, she’d love a nice quilt to use
Congrats! Shoot me an email, so we can get that quilt sent your way.

Cheers from the Bristol Hills of western New York. All the best to you and your family this year.

The moonstone top quilt, that you rated at 30 degrees would be great to use on my fall backpacking trip at picture rocks national lakeshore. Love your videos. Thanks
You mentioned, comparing to your quilts you own, the quilt is closer to 30 degrees. I never used a quilt, but would be interested to try one out.
Being in the South, a good "30*" bag would be good for me to use almost year round except for summer when a bag liner is almost to hot.
Thank you

I got one of these when I first saw it on here. For my use, I can’t see needing anything more!
still one of the best budget quilts
You believe it is a 30 degree quilt. I would use it for transitioning from a sleeping bag to a quilt which I have wanted to do for a long time. Thanks and love your videos.
Thank you so much for the review!

I’d love one to fill out my quilt collection, need a summer one for canoe trips with my cousin. You felt it was closer to a 30° rating.
The comfort rating for you is 30 degrees. I’m a cold sleeper, so probably a little higher for me . I keep my current sleeping bag unzipped a lot, and think a quilt would work better. Thanks Matty, we enjoy your videos!

You said this is closer to a 30 degree quilt. I would use it for summer backpacking, and for a stacking quilt in the summer. Thanks for all of the great videos!
Hey Matt! I would use this for a spring backpacking trip in Southern Utah, and secondly, I reckon you said the comfort rating is 30 degrees.
Looking for a good budget quilt for the early and late summer times. The 30* rating you suggest would be ideal for my needs.
A 30 degrees is perfect for summer and maybe 3 seasons backpacking in northern Québec. I would give that quilt to a friend that wants to go out in the wilderness with me next summer! Happy new year Matty :)

At 30 the degree comfort level I would stack it with my 30 degree bag in my hammock to push for colder temps.
The Featherstone company are Amazing to deal with as well.
hope you're not waiting on the giveaway, it was completed january 16th.
Sounds like a nice, budget friendly 30* quilt. Would love to try this out for an additional layer in the winter sleep system! Thanks for the review!
Thanks.
You feel it is closer to a 30° rating. I would actually give it to my son-in-law who is just getting into hammock camping. Happy New Year
Good to know my temp rating is what others feel too
I would use this quilt to get a little lighter on my summer trips. You say “you would personally rate the quire as a 30 degree quilt”
I'd gift this to my tall daughter who is building her gear set. Closer to a 30° comfort rating
I would guess that the 30 degree rating would be about a 45 degree comfort zone. Great for summer backpacking in Colorado - which is what I would use it for.
