I thought it was working better on the Major! But like you said, as long as it’s turning it over it’ll be fine. I used to turn hay with an old fashioned Acrobat. The morn it was turned the more it wound the hay into ropes! But the hay still got made fine! All you need is dry warm weather!
i so agree good machine for rowing up but to turn it it made ropes , we had a acrobat that was just on wheels so you could not lift it up so rowing up was not the best at all
Agree with a few below, you should try the traditional “pz” vicon haybob. I turned hundreds and hundreds if acres with one and it a nice fluff up. Tbf, your grass does look quite stalky which would probably impact the “fluff” in the swath too
Another great video. we start combining next Monday on our 100 acre's of rye grass we are still awaiting our new stripper header for the grass. Barley will follow that which will keep us busy. looking forward to seeing more from you. Regards to the family
Hi Nick it’s the way those hay bobs all are.I brought a dedicated four prop Tedder this year after using a hay bob for years and the difference is amazing ,It’s quicker and drying time will save you a day .I just use the hay bob for rowing up now as you go on you improve your set up .all the best .
If you had a traditional “haybob”.. it might spread better… but I don’t think them type of machine like a light crop… they need to be full to spread well… but if it works for you.. it works… I used to love haybob -ing…👍🏻👍🏻these days we have a 4 rotor Tedder and single rotor rake.. speeds the job up…🚜☀️👍🏻👍🏻 also barley cut here in Northumberland… never know it to be as early!!
Good video Nick 👍 haven't seen any combines out in our area up here yet🤔🏴 think someone else mentioned that driving over the swathes in a different position does make quite a difference to performance 👍
What should help alot is if you can split the rows coming into the tedder instead of driving the centre of a row..could you offset your position left or right so it has to move a row fully or slightly catch 2 rows..just my thoughts hope it helps
Lots people are cutting near Cambridge on the light land if its fit its fit not really had any rain since March 2mm so no surprise really and what I hear not weight to anything.... Hay bobs never do throw the grass out well. Some ways it's nice that it don't so you can though the grass to the left on a bit that the sun been shining on all morning its seems to stop the grass sweeting mabye that's just me. I would use a 4+ row tedder now though seems to do a better job
i agree they don't do the best job , i have tried not following the mower swaths , but its not much better we had a old FHAR centipede , not the one that rowed up as well , and that was the best i have ever used for tedding , , we made hundreds of acres of hay back then so having 2 machines was worth it , but for small amounts would not justify 2 machines
NIck, some observations / comments...... are you catching 2 swarths with that Lely? Its hard to be sure from the video but it looks like you are only catching 1 individual swarth at a time. That machine has a 3M working width so is capable of catching and turning out 2 swarths at a time. It will give a more even, better spread doing two swarths also. As someone mentioned, try experimenting with slower / faster ground speeds and PTO rpm to find the sweetspot that gives the best result. I imagine 1st or 2nd high and 1500 / 1600 engine rpm? Your hay crop is quite light and stemmy, looking at the video of you mowing down from a couple of days back. These two factors would also lead to the crop not being fully spread over the ground area. Also as grass approaches being fit to bale, it naturally starts to come into rows, due to less bulk and weight so not flung as far by the rotors. Been making hay here in Galway, west of Ireland using a Lely Lotus for over 30 years. IMO they are the best 2 rotor machine for tedding out grass. The 4 & 6 rotor Lely stabilio are excellent also. Congrats on your recent marriage btw.
😂😂 How much land has been dedicated to the "runway"?. I thought my old man was crazy, He built a down hill ski coarse and a ski lift from an old bale elevator with ropes and pulleys everywhere. Back when we used to get snow 😂😂 30+years ago
Interesting one Nick looks like you was caught hiding in the field . Ray will be having a pint with his lunch .....top team
Great video nick the hay is looking not bad 👍👍👍
Thanks 👍
Nice one. Thanks for posting

Your right Nick a 2 in 1 machine is always good at one thing..
Hay bob’s are well known for that
🤙🤙👍👍

I don't know where this is but the weather looks fantastic. I want to move there.
Love to see the 77 out working, those tractors just keep going. I love the old kit still working
she’s a good machine!
Don’t worry about the tedding Nick, we used to make hay just turning rows with a hay bob and it was always excellent given the weather
Great video nick the teleporter is a handy machine the 77 looks great
Cheers!

A haybob is only good for marking lumps.
Richard, some say that’s due to the operator…😂🤣..
We use a 4 rotor Khun tedder and a single rotor fella rake. Works well and don't need much hp.
Yeah I’m liking the idea of a 4 rotor tedder 🤔
Hi Nick. You are doing it right. you just need to find the flow, and good speed to spread the grass.
Thanks James 👍
You do good videos Nick
Thanks!
We have down in Somerset

Thanks for the tips!
If you are having issues with the haybob, lower your pto speed to around 470 rather than 540 and forward speed should be lowered also.
Started cutting Winter Barely yesterday in Ireland Co.Wexford
Nice one
Good video Nick we have a PZ haybob and I recon they're not great either🤔
Interesting to know Paul cheers, mine is great for rowing up though to be fair

cheers for advice Steven, yeah can imagine on the light land people have started to do a bit 👍
Nice bit of hay👍that's not actually a haybob 😬its similar to farmer p think he change tines which then made it turn better
If we get rob a parachute, could Dad drop rob back home ?😄😄🛩️
😂😂
🚜🚜🚜😎😎😎😎👍
I saw the 1st barley cut last wednesday, 29th of june. Pretty early for the Netherlands.
that is early!
So where in Suffolk was that barley cut nick , have you asked will his thoughts regarding the hay bob .
Hi Matt I think it was out towards lavenham way so west Suffolk 👍

Have a look at one of farmer p vids on his lely lotus he changed the tine direction
Could be crimping barley
Great video nick, them tines set right? Watch farmer p hay making on his channel. Dad checking up on you.
Yes mate , outer position for tedding I double checked 🤷🏼♂️ yeah Dad likes to look from the air see how it’s all looking haha
@@NicksFarm looks like it's on pre row up tbh, buy a second hand hay Bob or get will over.
First!!!
Started barley and rape in Lincolnshire with the high try a faster speed and higher RPM and it will throw further and spread better
cheers for the tip Carl 👍
Hi can you not do 2 rows of your mower with the tedder it should spread better you seem to just do 1 🤔👍👌
Dose your merch do sizes for 14 year old
reckon a small size would fit 👍
Your not going to get any better than a lely for tedding out
