Always loved the square jaw looks and those simple yet butch taillights. Mercurys we’re always classy yet sporty.
Very cool! It is so perfect, it's scary. It belongs in a museum.
No it belongs on the road being driven
Man the craftsmanship that went into cars prior to the 70’s is truly spellbinding, hypnotizing and mesmerizing!
This is a great find Charles, I’m sure you’ll do well on this one. I KNOW!!
Compare this with mid to late 70's cars such as the Thunderbird just as an example where cheap looking plastic ruled the day.
Does Adam from Rare Classic Cars know about this Mercury yet ?? This low mile car should end up in his collection 😊
Absolutely! He came to mind immediately.
I would absolutely love to give this car a good home. So beautiful, I can’t understand why modern cars can’t have such style. Long line mid century modern……
When I was a kid we had a 65 Parklane Cruiser with the breezeway rear window. It was totaled one night when a drunk driver t-boned it.
I really enjoy what you do here! There was a time when people mowed their lawns, painted their homes, cleaned their cars, did proper maintenance.... were good a respectable neighbors... now, not so much....maybe people lacking in such qualities might see your videos and give them the will to upgrade things in their lives instead of consuming and destroying...literally.. bravo x bravo!!!
Scott in Fort Worth and Bogota, Colombia....
Very much like our 1966 Ford LTD. Though the LTD was optioned more.
Great thing about this design is the flow through ventilation. Those slots behind the rear window really keep the cabin air comfortable is any weather.
The sedan style is rarely matched.
Certainly a pleasure to road trip when all systems are working correctly.
The AC probably needs a recharge. Tough to find a shop with the original Freon.
Formal is the correct word Charles...a clean crisp work of art.
Pagoda roofed cars, like this one, are always so handsome.
What terrific styling. I'd pic this as my favorite year for a 60s Mercury.
Absolutely stunning!!!
You sure know how to pick them Charles! It is amazing how an automobile can stay that pristine through 6 decades. It's breathtaking. The icing on the cake for me are those beautiful wheelcovers. That is such an important factor for me and a key element in a cars styling.
A substantial vehicle with understated elegance. And your presentation genuinely matches it.
Charles, that Mercury is absolutely gorgeous! It really looks so new after all these years...quite remarkable! In a lot of ways, it reminds me a lot of the brand new white 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 that we had when I was a kid. It was also a four-door hardtop just like this, with the exact same roof including that classy rear window. Many of the interior trim features were also quite similar, although ours was in red. That was such a long time ago, but I vividly remember vacation road trips in that car. Thank you so much for this little trip back in time. What a super fun car this Mercury would be to own!
Hi charles great car wish it was in my garage . Cheers mate🇦🇺
Oh boy! I was born in 68 and this is the car my parents had in my first four years of existence (and a 61 convertible Galaxy) navy blue with white interior. Gave it to my oldest brother and bought a 69 Country Squire. This was a joy to see. 😊
When you describe a car, you can practically smell the interior. I really like that the engine compartment looks "lived in" and not over done. Thanks for showing this survivor classic.
I live in the UK and missed out on a condo in Naples, Florida last month. If we had bought that I would be all over this spectacular one of a kind immaculate state of the art beautifully preserved fantastically presented icon of the motoring industry and absolute credit to the previous owner! Does it sound like I have been listening to a famous car guy too much? I know!!!!!! Love it!
Why would you ever want a condo in Florida with their Governor being such an ass, along with Florida’s economy going down the tubes. You can’t get insurance to cover the condo! Just sayin
@@tombarb2864exactly. Our governor is against castrating children, against open borders, and against coke in his office. That’s why it’s so crowded here (housing shortage) because people are fleeing the liberal cities’ crime and high taxes.
@Tom
If you want a pompous ass for a governor then look no further than Newsome of California. The worst!
What an amazing Mercury.
A perfect summer cruiser with all the windows down...
So nice! Where'd they store this thing for the last 58 years -- in a hermetically sealed safe?
Glad you sold the Mercury, Charles. Congrats to you and the lucky new owner. Sometimes mid-60's Mercuries can get overlooked, but they really are beautiful cars, and when in pristine condition like this example, quite spectacular.
That definitely is a work of art. What they did with a rectangular base design was magnificent.
I'd say, it's a skinnier Continental without the Continental engine. By then, Mercury unfortunately shared engines only with Ford models.
Compliments to Mercury Division for designing only clean unfrivilous lines. There are absolutely no design flaws to be found. The round guages are also eye candy.
I only regret having overlooked these, back then when they were affordable as used cars and more abundant.
I devoted too much to my 1956 Chevrolet 4-door sedan, only because of the dates it would attract (even as a humdrum 4-door sedan?!)
Pristine gem for sure, style is timeless. Thanx.
We had a 1965 Meteor Montclair with the slant in rear window. One of the greatest cars we ever owned.
Outstanding find. We have a 63 Monterey S55 hardtop from Georgia undergoing some mechanical repairs. It's a remarkable unrestored example we added to our fleet.
You have excellent taste, Charles.
absolutely gorgeous! That car needs to be shown
Wow! The condition is unbelievably pristine. Thank you!
The styling is dignified and restrained. It's a big car without being clumsy. A quiet form of elegance indeed.
Magnificent
"I know"
Always remember Charles, you are one of the coolest people in the entire universe. Thank you for all that you do :)
Wow, thank you
Also one of the best-looking - and probably THE snappiest dresser!
We Love you Charles . I Know !
Crazy about a Mercury. Oh the splendor of an affordable Lincoln that is so much more than a Ford!
For the 1965 model year, Ford really ramped up its quality, and spent a lot of time and money developing the ride of these cars, advertising that they rode better and quieter than a rolls Royce. This Merc looks super classy and is perfect for the middle class man who wants a comfortable and quiet ride, along with quality of build and material.
"Spellbinding, hypnotizing, mesmerizing, glistening...I know"
Love ya Charles!
I had one of these in the early '70's as a teenager. I thought it looked very Lincolnish too. All Ford products ride so smoothly.
Beautiful car! And the asking price seems quite reasonable too.
It sold fast!
Stallion!
Been missing your vids.
Your smooth n' studly voice
Your Hyperionesque humour
(Your perfectly coiffed hair line . . . 😎!)
What's not to love!!!!
Mwah (& Mwah)!
Gorgeous car!
There’s a YT video on here that is various versions of the Mercury jingle, “Move Ahead with Mercury”. It’s pure pleasure for a kid who grew up in the 1960’s.
It makes me feel good to know how many guys across the country I don't feel so much alone now that I read these posts and the comments they generate. We clearly all have the same memories about being a kid who grew up in the 60s. At that time my family all drove Chryslers. My grandfather on my mom's side worked at Chrysler's Highland Park headquarters, just west of downtown Detroit. In 1958, our entire family moved to the San Fernando Valley, California. We drove to California in a new 58 Dodge Custom Sierra wagon. It was red and white. By the early 70s, we all had switched to Fords. It actually started when my oldest brother bought a 66 Mustang, it was black with black vinyl interior. A 289 4 barrel Motorcraft carburetor, and a 4 on the floor manual transmission, and duel exhaust. That car was too cool. 2 of my uncle's had beautiful Colony Park wagons. One was white with red interior, and a 390 under the hood, we also had more Mustangs, a few F series trucks. By 1976, my parents bought a 76 Lincoln Town Car, with a mighty 460 under the hood. I had 75 Colony Park, it white with tan interior and of course the woodgrain panels on the sides and tailgate. We all loved that wagon. In fact, its nickname was "The Wagon," and it was loved by all. By the early 80s, the family had all switched to Fords. In the 90s, we had 6 Explorers and we loved them. I think my dad was a total Ford man. As he got older, he had 2 owned 2 Sable wagons, and he loved them both. Today, one brother drives a 08 F-150, one has a 98 Explorer, in Eddie Bauer trim, and I have a 08 Explorer XLT. Fords are great vehicles. They all are very comfortable and handle great.
Our family got a brand new white '65 Mercury when I was a kid. This brought me back, thanks Charles!
What an awesome, well preserved car. I always preferred the Park Lanes, but after seeing a Monterey in this condition, it really changes my mind. Even the entry level big Merc was super classy. One thing I do disagree with is the 390 2V having 325 hp. It was either 250 or 266 hp, depending on whether it was regular or premium fuel. But other than that, awesome video.
Great Car.. " I Knoooooooowwwww "
Great film work!
Great voice, Charles. As smooth as the ride of the Mercury!
Thank you kindly!
Super nice. Love that style.
where do you find these low mile cars man ?
Charles what a great car! It’s like the car our grandparents had, did it sell yet?
Stunning!
amazing car Charles!
Love it!
I just ❤ this Vehicle and the Grill and Tail Lights 😊
Simply a stunning gem!
LOVE this #FreedomMachine !! For the buyer: The AMERICAN-made RediRad model AM/N will add an AUX input to the original audio system, no cutting, no disappointments, and no CHINA to get there. Ask Charles about it. Or us. Drive on!
The Dashboard is very Clean Looking 😊
BEAUTIFUL ❤
Beautiful
You know, I dont like working on doors so Im not in the market for 4drs. but i
have to say that Merc doesnt look un proportionate as many 4drs. do. It is a handsome and sturdy product! I know!
Nice car, but the fact you don’t know if the air blows cold puzzles me. I think 325Hp was a 4 barrel 390, 2 barrel around 275.
The engine in this is a FE 390 *2v* meaning two valve per cylinder, cylinder head. These put out about 265 hp. It was the four valve heads that made north of 300. They all used 4 barrels.
@@LynxStarAuto Ford used the 2V 4V thing to indicate the number of venturi in the carburetor so a 390 2V is a 390 2 barrel and they made about 250 horsepower...
@@LynxStarAuto2V stands for two venturi, two barrel carburetor. 4V stands for four venturi, Ford did not make a four valves per cylinder engine.
@@2packs4sure 100% correct. My family had a 1965 Monterey four-door. It wasn’t a marauder, but it had the 390 2V. I chuckled when he said 325.
That car rides better than a Cadillac.. Ford has always had the best chassis. An engines
I extremely want that car to be re-produced. FORD, you're missing the boat. DO IT! Make this car again. With the technology of today it will get more than enough miles per gallon. No excuses Ford. Just do it.
Good suggestion.
I know Ford reproduced the 2 seater in the T bird in the 90s but I'd rather see a reproduction of the 61-63 T- bird or 67-69.
To each their own!
@John
'64 - '66 Tbirds were the best looking IMNSHO
How do you validate mileage in the us ?,we have Mot's in the uk
There is no true absolute. Some states required an annual inspection and IF the owner kept the paperwork then it would verify the mileage. Also some owners kept repair invoices which would verify the miles. I can tell you that I have owned more than fifty old cars in the last fifty years. 95% of them you have no idea if the mileage is correct. A careful driver with highways miles in a dry state like California could easily have 120000 on a car that still looks new. A car from the rust belt driven primarily in town or city are hard miles and 50000 miles looks like the car has 250000. Add all this to the fact that nearly all car new dealers turned back miles on nice trade in cars, say from 80,000 down to 35,000. Just my two cents worth.
Marvelous 🏁 Monterey
😍Nice!!!!!!👍👍
I had a 66 parklane with factory air with a 410 other than that it was the same.
How do I get in touch with you??

Will do
Thar car could be taken straight to Pebble Beach!
I like a Mercury Monterey with an AM-only radio

Price?
19,900 obo
@@_charlesphoenix Thank you. Absolutely beautiful car.
You have voice for radio
The taillights look like '73 Cadillac taillights.
I have a 65 Monterey convertible
Well, actually . . . The interior of this Ford Mercury (more Ford than Mercury since 1961) is very cheap looking--all plastic and thin vinyl upholstery. It's a step down from '64, which was the best Mercury since 1960. Things got better '68 ff model years. But I do like the clean exterior design.
Is it a ford😅❤
Designed with a framing square 😂
Bet you don't say chev a lay...
Looks unused !
The guy sounds VERY feminine!
Stunning!
