Dude! This is such a thorough review off this camera! I was watching another Uber driver's video and he mentioned the N2 and said it was a great camera but it was missing GPS, which I really wanted. You let me know that it's a cheap add on through the mount. This is the one I'll be buying. I've been Ubering for 7 years and have never had a dash cam. Haven't really needed one, but it freaks me out that something could happen in the car and it would be my word against theirs. Or if I'm in an accident, there'd be no footage of who did what. Thanks for a really great review.
I’m glad you found some good equipment that suits your needs. The N2 pro has been my go-to dash cam for almost 7 years now. We’ve been Ubering for about the same amount of time. I’m at 6.5 years with Uber/Lyft and this dash cam has saved me a couple of times and I believe people behave more knowing that you have one running. Good luck with your future rides!

Nice and best camera , I been using it for a while , the battery is bad on it when unplugged , it still works , The only question I have that nobody mentions in any of the reviews how do you save the videos and transfer them to your computer or chrome book tanks

Thanks for the comment. In order to get the videos onto your computer you just need to insert your micro sd card into the slot on your computer. If you need a micro sd card to USB adapter I provided a link in the description of this video to a very good one that I've been using for years. I hope that helps. Have you tested how long battery life is when it's not plugged in? Guessing GPS mount doesn't work if not plugged in. Would prefer not to have to have a power cable hanging from the windshield... Not using for Uber or driving all day. Thanks and great video.
You can hide all of the cables in the headliner of your car so nothing is hanging just like how I do for the hardwire parking mode installation. I always have mine plugged in while I drive so I don't know how long the battery will last while recording. Maybe I'll test it unplugged when I have a chance and get back to you.

Hi,
The Vantrue dashcam player is mostly used for viewing your footage with the GPS information added to it. If you want to film the process like how I did in my video all you need is a screen recording software such as OBS studio which you can download for free. If you want to edit your actual footage from your dash cam you will need editing software such as the one I use for free which is Davinci Resolve. Cheers! :)

I hope you got the OBD version. It's much better. I haven't had any problem with Sandisk Extreme cards when testing it with the N2 Pro. However, Vantrue recommends using either Samsung or Vantrue cards for their dash cam though so I would stick to those 2. The best value is going to be the 256 GB Samsung Evo Select. It's a really good card. Sometimes they go on sale on Amazon too!

This model doesn’t use WiFi or Bluetooth. You put the clips onto your computer by plugging in the micro sd card then you can do whatever you want with the files from there!
This is one of the best dashcams I've ever used so I'm going to stick with Vantrue. Which Vantrue dashcams would you consider are better than the N2 PRO if I'm looking to upgrade?
Yes, The Vantrue N4 if you want a 3rd camera for the rear of your vehicle or the N2S if you want an upgraded version of the N2 PRO. These are both better but they cost more.
I just tried to format an N2 Pro, June 7, 2023. No luck. I noticed reviews where a good number of people said the Vantrue sd cards were not working. So I went to Walmart last night and purchased a Sandisk 128 GB disc for 25 dollars. I have had no luck being able to format this camera. Can't set the time stamp, and the camera shuts off after 3 minutes being plugged into an AC adapter with a USB cord. a few years ago, I had a Car & Driver dash cam which was much simpler to use so far than this camera, but it was shot after 2 years.
Sorry for late response, but you need to make sure to format your SD card. I've had no issues with Vantrue SD cards still to this date. You can go to Vantrue.net if you need to download the firmware for any dashcams. This was sometimes a necessary step for some of the older models of the N2 PRO. Formatting SD cards have always been a breeze though with both the Samung Evo Select cards and the Vantrue ones so I'm concerned that maybe you just received a rare bad apple and you should have contacted vantrue to get a replacement because they do have a good warranty and a great customer service department.@@tompastian3447
Dumb question here but just wondering, is it possible here to just record while facing fwd only? I mean i dont really care about inside. Also if not what would you recommend?
Yes, no problem. I explain this in the menu chapter of the video. All you have to do is go into the menu and go to "record setup" and there you can it set it so that just the front camera is on. When you do this it also increases the resolution of the front camera and it films in 1440 P instead of 1080 P, so you would also get that additional resolution bonus on top! The N2 Pro is a great camera that I would recommend even today. It's on sale right now for cyber Monday on Amazon too!

While you’re recording you can see both camera angles. When viewing the footage on playback on the device you have to view 1 angle at a time because there’s a desperate video file for each camera stored to the micro sd. Download the vantrue software on vantrue.net to view both angles on playback simultaneously on your computer.
Hi, so even with OBD cable, it is imposible to keep the camera recording H24 if the ignition is off ?
Yes, because if your camera was left on 24/7 then it would slowly drain whatever battery you have attached to it when your vehicle is turned off. When using the OBD, you would be drawing power from your car battery. The camera has motion detection built in so that it will only start filming if it senses movement or if the G sensor gets activated from banging or collision.
Is there a way to show both camera views at the same time on playback?
Check out my menu demonstration at 16:55. You want to make sure you have dual recording setup and you’ll see in the end that I have both camera views displayed in the menu screen while recording. If you’re talking about watching the recorded footage on your n2 pro, you have to watch them separately because the front camera and cabin camera files are stored separately next to each other on the micro sd card. In order to view them same time like in my video, you have to download the vantrue player software to your computer or use a video editor to overlap the footage. The vantrue player software is available on vantrue.net
How many hours of footage can you get with a 128 verses 256 without loop recording using 1920x1080?
The 64 gb card does about 6 hours of footage so the 128 gb should do 12 hours and the 256 gb should do 24 hours.
I noticed a slot on the front of the camera is that for a micro sd card as well? Maybe for rear facing camera 😊
No, there is only 1 slot for 1 micro sd card as shown in my review. The front and cabin camera video files are stored on the same card simultaneously and the files will be next to each other when you view them on your computer.

@@grcoon That's not a slot in front of the N2 Pro. It just looks like a slot. It's actually a motion detector sensor for the "parking mode". There's only 1 slot for the micro SD card and it's located on the left side of the device underneath the dust cover.

You need to view it on a computer. There’s no WiFi for this model.
I’ve hardwired the n2 pro with the obd port but the “P” won’t turn on for the display. I have parking mode turned on in the settings as well, any suggestions?
I would go to vantrue.net and install the latest firmware. Then restart your dashcam and format your micro SD card. If that doesn’t work contact Vantrue on Facebook and ask your question. They usually respond quick through DM.
I want this more for park mode, to put in 1969 classic car. Does park mode come on anytime someone walks in front or camera ??? Sorry if you already answered this.
As far as my testing and my understanding goes, as long as someone walks in front of your car, the dash cams motion detectors will get tripped off and start recording if you have parking mode on and the dash cam is hardwired to your vehicle. A 1969 car will not have an OBD port so you will have to hard wire your dash cam with the fuse box method. Not too worry though, I have the exact part you need in this description of this video! I never timed the exact seconds but seems to be around 2-3 seconds. Also, It may be faster than that if you get hit because the G sensor
should get activated and should activate the parking mode camera instantly or around 1-2 seconds.

My car has a USB-C connector on the mirror. Can i connect this dashcam with one cable?
This dashcam is normally powered by the included 12 volt charger which goes into 12 volt/cigarrette lighter charger. It also comes with an included USB-A cable for your PC or wall outlet. So to answer your question, yes it can be connected with one cable but I'm not sure how much output comes out of your mirror. You can try your mirror with a USB-C adapter but I can't guarantee that it's going to work.

Yeah, you just have to lock the menu screen. Most people don't even notice it's there at night.

@@ryangallo4414 I live in Hawaii which is a 1 party consent state so only the person recording needs to give approval of the recording. I've been operating like this while doing Uber and Lyft for the past 5 years with no problems. Which state do you live in?

Since Illinois is a 2-party consent state, technically you will have to ask your passengers each ride if it's okay to record. Most passengers probably won't mind. If they say no, then you can simply turn off the audio recording which can be done with 1 click of a button on the N2 PRO. That way you can still get the benefit of the video recording. Overall, I'm not even sure if you 100% need to ask for permission each ride because dash cams are kind of a gray area because: 1. It's a security device installed for your safety and protection. 2. The video/audio files are not intended to be used unless something bad happens. 3. The old video footage is constantly being recorded over because most users set it to loop recording so that you never need to change the micro-SD card. 4. Your vehicle is a gray area because it's not really clear if it's a public or private area.

So I got my Vantrue N2 pro, I am now using it and trying to test it out. I notice when the camera starts it only gave me five minutes and it automatically turns off. What should I do to make sure it’s continue recording continuously, until I turn off my car.
There's a few things that come to mind. First of all you need to have it constantly plugged in to the 12 volt socket in your car. Watch my video to see how to install it and plug it in.
Second, you can leave it unplugged for several minutes if you want to remove the device and use it/record with it but it will eventually run out of juice because it's limited to the lithium battery.
3rd, there's a feature that automatically shuts off the display screen after a certain amount of minutes. You can customize that duration of time or turn off that feature in the menu. It might be that your display is turning off after 5 minutes and not the entire device. I hope this helps and replay back if you need further advice.

Why my cam I turned off by it self every time even when is connected to the charger place!

It can if you get the parking mode kit.
How do you get the Dash Cam to go continuous playing? Mines keeps shutting down or goes into a sleep mode after 1min
Make sure it’s lugged into your 12v socket, update your firmware on vantrue.net and format your SD card. Doing this fixes most problems. If all fails contact Vantrue on their FB page.

@@TheRideshareCoach The "Auto LCD" I had it set for 1 min. My Dash Cam would shut off or go into a sleep mode 1 min after I turn it back on everytime. Black Screen. I set that "Auto LCD" to off. Now I get a continously on View screen. It works fine.

First of all it will only work if you have the N2 Pro model with the lithium battery. If it has a super capacitor then it won't work. Have you tried charging it without using it before disconnecting? Sometimes it needs a good charge. Let me know.

@@rcm1145 Can you please confirm that you have a lithium battery instead of a super capacitor in your N2 Pro? After that, if you have a lithium battery and it's fully charged go ahead and format your micro SD card. Last, go on Vantrue.net and download the latest firmware for the N2 Pro. This will ensure that your N2 Pro is optimized with the latest software upgrade. You will have to simply put a .bin file onto the micro SD card that you are using with your N2 Pro. After doing all that, if your N2 Pro still doesn't stay on after disconnecting it then I would assume you have a faulty unit and you will have to contact Vantrue to get a replacement. All units come with a 12 months warranty and an extended 18 months warranty if you signed up for it. Everything you need will be available on Vantrue.net.

Do I need the Vantrue GPS Mount if I'm working rideshare, or is that simply optional?
You’re not required to have a dash cam if you work rideshare but it’s highly recommended. The GPS mount is worth it, if you want to have the exact speed and coordinates of your vehicle. This is just extra useful information that can be used to prove your case in the event that you get into a incident and need to provide video to law enforcement or in court
