      They've found where the Israelites lived in Egypt. They found there, Joseph's tomb. They found where they were trapped on the beach on the Reed Sea and where they crossed. They found the real Mt Sinai ( in Arabia, not the Egyptian peninsula, which is falsely called the " Sinai peninsula " ) and the split rock where the water came out.

      Unfortunately for bible believers who might be jumping up and down as if this validates their scriptures, archaeology has found no evidence whatsoever to indicate that Israel (as an established group of people) even existed when the Merneptah Stele was carved. At best, in the late 13th century BCE, Israel would have been nothing more than small groups of highland pastoral shepherds, numbering maybe a few hundred in total. The Merneptah Stele was set around 1209 BCE, and names several peoples that were conquered by Egypt in the Arabian peninsula and in Canaan. For the Pharaoh to mention these people, they would have to have been established people with cities and/or fighting armies. Otherwise, it would not enhance the perceived might of the Pharaoh, and would never have been mentioned. Archaeology has, to date, only found evidence of Israel starting to become an established group of ethnic people in the early to mid 12th century BCE. Also worth mentioning is the fact that this is the ONLY ancient mention of Israel found anywhere other than in the bible. Sorry, folks, but facts are facts.

    The avalanche of new evidence bringing light to the misteries of Scripture, proving it right in the process, is so refreshing and edifying! It's so surprising how the Lord keeps "confounding the wise in their own wisdom". Those who have killed the faith of so many with the "there-is-no-evidence" dagger will have to either accept their mistakes and retract themselves, or be put to the "irrefutable-evidence" sword, intellectually speaking, of course. I don't advocate any type of violence towards none, even if those atheist and agnostic academics have done terrible intellectual violence to so many for so long.

      Christian apologists love to cite archaeological finds. Often the claims are either grossly misinterpreted (As association of a rock structure with Noah's Ark) to outright fabrications by charlatans (e.g. the manifold claims of finding pieces of the wood used in the putative Jesus' crucifixion). But where religious apologetics truly fail is in the application of basic logic. For this I would cite the impossibility of the biblical account of Exodus.

      How can a "mythical" Moses take 2,000,000 people from Egypt ... if even they were ... and still Egypt was flourishing in ALL aspects of life ... taking away 2 m from 5 m would have destroyed the whole of Egypt economically, socially, etc. Rather, during the period of their supposed exodus ... Egypt became extremely flourishing ... does this make sense?
      Moses NEVER existed ... his story was plagiarized from "Gilgamesh" ... "Mithra" ... "Osiris" ,,, etc.

    Some in the comments are asking for specific data on the Exodus and early Israel. More evidence has arisen regarding the Exodus and Conquest, some even in the past year. Here is what I have correlated from classic and recent findings. (I'm not an archaeologist, but studied it in university and after.)
    SPECIFIC EVIDENCE:
    "City of Ramases" mentioned in Exodus is a back-naming of Avaris, like New York for New Amsterdam. There, Manfred Bitek excavations has found much evidence of Semites during what is called the "Early Chronology" of the Exodus (1446 B.C.).
    Amenhotep II was the pharaoh at the time of Moses. Here is the abridged quote from Manetho 3rd C B.C.E. re: the pharaoh of the Exodus, as quoted by Josephus in 1st C A.D.
    “… of their (Egypt’s) principal writers … Manetho... an Egyptian... his very words... they built a city that is called Jerusalem… and Amenophis (Greek for Amenhotep) king of Egypt…”
    This early chronology also fits with:
    The Mount Ebal curse tablet, inscriptions just published in 2022, 2023 A.D. (Joshua 8)
    Scarabs found in conquest sites fit with early date - Amenhotep, Hatshepsut
    The timing of the destruction of towns in Palestine (the Mereneptah Stele, about 1208 B.C., fitting with Judges 18:6)
    The conversion of Akhenaten to monotheism AFTER the Jews left, probably influenced by them (1353-1336 B.C,)
    Date of the start of Solomon's Temple, 966 B.C., recorded as 480 years after the exodus (I Kings 6:1)

  • @watchman2866
    @watchman2866 2 роки тому +4

    Imagine living when the stele was made and even knowing a few Israelites not knowing that it would be a controversial issue thousands of years later. To every precious archaeological find, there's a generation that had the complete objects and the context of their creation. If you look at a map of Trafalgar Square in London, England, I used to drive completely around it, today you can't because the road that was in front of The National Gallary has been pedestrianised. I've still got my A to Z of London maps showing when you could drive around it and when you can't. Imagine a generation that only has the maps showing you can't. They may believe this was always the case. There are lots of these situations in my lifetime. Biblical critics should be humble.

    • @watchman2866
      @watchman2866 2 роки тому +1

      @@blacksmoke3113 It's obvious they exist, but the issue is who, when, why, and how? People make statements like they never existed at a given time because we haven't found 'x'. The critic, therefore, argues in silence and assumes previous generations had the level of artifacts we've got today. Then the problem comes by extrapolating those few objects unto history.

    • @blacksmoke3113
      @blacksmoke3113 2 роки тому

      @@watchman2866 ok, here's the problem you might be overlooking for any number of reasons.
      The Merneptah Stele establishes an earlier existence for Israel than what records before it's discovery allowed. Try and remember that this discovery is over a hundred years old. It was discovered in 1896. When the vast majority of the "western world" was already Christian and probably attributed more meaning to this than they should. The problem lies in using it to prove the divinity claim for lack of better words. Have you ever considered that if a record of this minor battle in a foreign land won by a minor pharaoh without much else to his name, then other biblical events related to the Egyptians should also have been recorded?
      Because they weren't. The only other archeological evidence for the existence of pre Israel Hebrew peoples are the dubious tomb of Joseph, which only indicates a foreigner named Joseph existed, and shrines found in the Levant that are believed to be associated with pre Israeli yawhehists. And those are never talked about because they illustrate an evolution of a Canaanite belief in a deity named El becoming the belief in a deity named yawheh. And because these shrines tend to be covered in cannabis residue in the same way that incense is used.
      I think I'd probably be of more interest to you in terms of conversation if you would perhaps share what you think the Merneptah Stele proves. Particularly in regard to what others disbelieve.

      @@blacksmoke3113 The stele only demonstrates that that's all we have to verify something. The problem comes in trying to make out that the biblical authors didn't mean or understand what they wrote. Again you seem to extrapolate the few items we've found into to those living at the time. The people living at the time most probably had of interactions with Israel married them worked and shared leisure with them. Of itself, the stele is just one of possibly many, that happens to name Israel, but the biblical scriptures are a far greater and more detailed document, that chronicled Israel. It doesn't need the stele. It stands for itself as a greater historical record.

      @@watchman2866 um no?
      The Stele says the Egyptian pharaoh and his army defeated the Israelites and destroyed their grain storage. That is all it says. It's utterly unreasonable for you to think it means the Egyptians knew, married, and mixed with people hundreds of miles away that they just defeated but did not occupy.
      I also don't think you know what extrapolate means, since I'm asserting a bottom line, closed claim about what the Stele means. You, in fact, are extrapolating meaning if you think it means everything you said above. The Stele is a chronicle of the wars of a nondescript pharaoh, and Israel is on the list of his defeated enemies. You're basically extrapolating more from it than what it is.
      And again, all it is is a list of accomplishments of an otherwise little known pharaoh. It does help us know that a kingdom called Israel existed a little earlier than all other evidence, but nothing more. Since nobody's ever doubted that existence, only it's beginning in a fabled Exodus story, it doesn't prove anything we didn't already know

      This is an attempt to prove something that has no ground. Archeologists have found no evidence in any of the Bibles claim, including the Old Testament, of the existence of a developed Hebrew community. They were a tribe mostly nomadic like many in the area, probably circling between what is now Syria all the way down to the Arabic desert. Nothing more.

One day while in the library got the idea to look up Egyptn history to find what was written about Moses and the exodus, but was suprized to find nothing in any of their books. Scratching my head and thinking then remembered watching the ten commandment movie. While angered, Pharaoh said to scratch out every recorded reference to Israel but hoo-ray they musta missed this one Petrie found here. (sorry, just a dummies observation)

      @Chams Ali Setting aside the religious side of the Old Testament, and looking only at the historical record (which the books of Judges, Kings and Chronicles all form parts of in the main), the details on this stele do seem to confirm the Biblical record that the Israelites at the time of this Pharoah had not yet gone beyond their tribal nature to become a single people with a king. That might seem trivial but it's important in that external confirmation suggests Judges to be a reasonably reliable source, in this instance at least.

    • @ShanghaiRooster
      @ShanghaiRooster 2 роки тому

      @Chams Ali This stele describes a campaign mounted by Merneptah in around 1209 B.C. in Canaan (which corresponds to the area of modern Israel). There is no historical evidence for the Exodus having occurred; the Bible gives no Pharaoh's name so no firm dating of any kind is possible. Some historians think the story may originate with the expulsion of the mysterious people known as the Hyksos who formed the 15th Dynasty of Egypt (1674-1535 B.C.). If so, then the events of Exodus took place over three centuries previously. We're in full agreement that the supernatural events in the Bible didn't occur as described, but passing a tale down orally over centuries could be a mutated memory of some of the Egyptians getting caught in a trap where perhaps they drove their chariots into some quicksand, and were wiped out.

    • @ShanghaiRooster
      @ShanghaiRooster 2 роки тому

      @Chams Ali Sorry, but you really can't get away with suggesting that one part of the Exodus story is the literal truth and the other part is fairytale. It's better by far to start from the idea that Exodus is part of the mythology of the origin of the jewish people. If that story is tied in with the Hyksos (15th Dynasty) of Canaanite rulers in Lower Egypt (regardless of whether that is genuine history or just latched onto by early Israelite storytellers) then you have something to work with.
      The 15th Dynasty existed during the so-called Second Intermediate Period of Egypt, between the Middle Kingdom and the New Kingdom. During that period there were three or perhaps four concurrent dynasties ruling over different regions of Egypt; the 15th in the Delta region (Lower Egypt) then two local dynasties ruling in Abydos and Thebes (the 16th Dynasty) and finally the 17th Dynasty ruling in Upper Egypt. The Abydos Dynasty (if it existed) was short-lived. The 16th was conquered by the Hyksos in around 1580 B.C. It's likely that continued strife between the 15th and 17th Dynasties over control in Upper Egypt fatally weakened both, allowing the emergent 18th Dynasty to drive the Hyksos out of Egypt over a period of several years (it certainly would not have been in one brilliant campaign) and establish the New Kingdom under which Egypt reached the height of its power.

    • @ShanghaiRooster
      @ShanghaiRooster 2 роки тому

      @Chams Ali Ahmose, son of Ebana, was a distinguished soldier in the army of Pharoah Ahmose I (founder of the 18th Dynasty, not the 15th). His life, recorded on the walls of his tomb is a fascinating one. He participated in the battle of Avaris (where he killed two Hyksos) and later in the three year siege of a town called Sharuhen in southern Canaan, which had been fortified by the Hyksos after they were driven from Egypt.
      Regarding the rest of what you write, we are in agreement that the details of the Exodus story as recorded in the Bible is largely a fairytale. But the armies of ancient Egypt most certainly did not have 50,000 horsemen. The horse was only introduced into Egypt during the time of the Hyksos; other than zebras (and their extinct cousin the quagga) the only equines native to the African continent were wild asses (which have also sadly been hunted to the edge of extinction). Whilst the ancient Egyptians brought the use of chariots to a peak of perfection, they apparently never took to riding horses as cavalry. That doesn't mean they were unaware of the concept of riding. There are inscriptions in Sinai, dating from the 12th Dynasty, showing riders, but the animals are donkeys and the men asiatic not Egyptian. Archers were the mainstay of Egyptian armies. Chariots carried a bowman, but in ancient Egypt even the composite bows used by chariot warriors were not short enough to be used from horseback, let alone the simple bows used by most of the infantry archers. The lack of cavalry arm shouldn't be surprising as Egypt's enemies didn't really have them either, until the Assyrians came down upon Egypt in the seventh century B.C.

    • @ShanghaiRooster
      @ShanghaiRooster 2 роки тому

      @Chams Ali I can not take you seriously if you think Ahmose, son of Ebana and Pharaoh Ahmose I are the same person. The Autobiography of Ahmose, son of Ebana, inscribed upon the walls of his tomb is available on line for anybody who wishes to read it.
      It opens with the words:
      "The Crew Commander Ahmose Son of Abana, the justified: he says. I speak to you all people. I let you know what favours came to me. I have been rewarded with gold seven times in the sight of the whole land, with male and female slaves as well. I have been endowed with very many fields.The name of the brave man is in that which he has done; it will not perish in the land forever.
      He speaks as follows. I grew up in the town of Nekheb, my father being a soldier of the King of Upper and Lower Egypt, Seqenenre, the justified. Baba son of Reonet was his name. I became a soldier in his stead on the ship 'The Wild Bull' in the time of the Lord of the Two Lands, Nebpehtire, the justified. I was a youth who had not married..."
      Nebpehtire was the throne name of King Ahmose I. In his autobiography, Ahmose Son of Ebana (or Abana) goes on to describe his actions in the battles against the Hyksos on land and sea, and how he was rewarded for killing the enemy. Later he describes his part in campaigns against the Nubians under Ahmose I and later campaigns in Nubia and into Syria under his successors Amenhotep I and Thutmose I.
      Seqenenre is the throne name of Tao, Ahmose I's father. Kamose was Ahmose I's uncle.
