Why do I love Indonesia? This is informations. You know, Mother Nature in this country is the mastermind behind major natural disasters that can hit many countries and cause many fatalities, not just 1 or 100 times, but more than that. When I was a teenager, at the high school level I always studied and read books about nature in a library located in Europe. I found a book that said "Tambora The Years Without Summer" then also found a book that said "Krakatoa". Both of these books tell about nature and its brutality at the same time. Not only that, in the book it is explained that the incident is located in 1 country but in different regions. Was it the only tragedy that was written by the International? No, there is a lot of history of major natural disasters in Indonesia that are written internationally. I have to be honest when talking about Indonesia, without many people realizing that nature in Indonesia is also very cruel, often raging, abnormal and brutal. Total natural disasters in Indonesia (8 Years Calculation) : >Year 2022 = 1.421 (Period Jan - Jun). >Year 2021 = 3,058 >Year 2020 = 2,925 >Year 2019 = 9,375 >Year 2018 = 3,397 >Year 2017 = 2,341 >Year 2016 = 2,342 >Year 2015 = 1,682 Total natural disasters for 8 years = 26.541 (This is the most violent, brutal and deadly category in the world because of calculations in 1 country, not Chile/Japan). I became very interested in the history recorded by the International and finally I bought a textbook on natural disasters in Indonesia written by European researchers, scientists and historians. It turned out to be much more amazing, that's when I fell in love with nature in Indonesia. This is not only about beauty but also about history which has a huge impact on many countries in the world. Nature in Indonesia is not only beautiful, but also very unique, different, diverse, strange and great. But on the other hand it is also deadly, brutal, often occurs, many casualties and is written in European history. That is nature in Indonesia, it has very different class categories. If you know all the volcanoes, rivers, lakes, caves, waterfalls, beaches, mountains, rice fields, forests, wastelands and others in Indonesia (Nature), the nature is very insane. For me personally, a visit to Indonesia is the most memorable for me because I have visited 51 natural tourist attractions. List of natural tourist attractions in Indonesia that I have visited. 1). Therefore, many people misunderstand tourism in Indonesia because it is too much and varied. Then you will find something unique and strange, at least go on 30 different trips to tourist attractions in Indonesia and I am sure you will have a much more extraordinary experience and lasting memories. I know you intend to compare destinations from a Westerner's point of view, but I think Phuket vs Bali, or Thailand vs Indonesia, or Jakarta vs Bangkok would perhaps be a fairer comparision.
I'm well traveled, and aware that Bali is an island. I was only comparing holiday destinations, not countries. Mainly, because Australians love Thailand and Bali as destinations, whether they are countries or not we're irrelevant (you can't take a bus to Jakarta from Bali).

I've been to Bali and I've been to Thailands cities n resorts....in my opinion, Bali is superior compared to Thailand in terms of tourism, culture and arts, also food and hotels, people and nature. However you cannot compare Bali island to Thailand as a coutry
Ive not been to thailand. Ive been to bali a few times and loved the people there and the culture is way relaxed.. which I enjoyed. Youre right to say they are very tourist based. However i visited ubud and some of the smaller more authentic balinese places with gorgeous natural locations where I trekked and rode bikes through mountains, forests, rivers and waterfalls and their amazing rice fields. Plus the food in their more muslum areas was very vegan friendly and delicious.. The touristy areas can be a bit hectic like kuta beach and is overrun by westerners which can detract from the experience but its nice to go through there and support them as it is their main source of economy
I've been to Indonesia in 2015 & 2018. I visited Indonesia with the aim of exploring and adventuring, not for vacation or honeymoon. However, I have not explored Indonesia 100% because it is vast and also very diverse. Each region in Indonesia has different tourist or natural attractions, as if entering a different dimension. It's hard to explain, the point is when you go to Indonesia, what you visit with other regions in Indonesia is definitely different. What made me so interested in Indonesia? The answer is nature, because nature in Indonesia has very clear differences in each region. Some even look strange, unique and absurd and there are lots of hidden places to explore. For me, Indonesia is very suitable to be used as a place for adventure, explorers and get unexpected experiences. My personal conclusion about Indonesia : Indonesia is like a very beautiful Queen, very graceful, very charming, very attractive, very stunning and very cool. However, keep in mind that although the Queen almost looks perfect, on the other hand the Queen also has a dangerous nature (Many natural disasters in Indonesia have been recorded internationally and even get the title of the most frequent and the most violent). When the Queen is asleep, the Queen looks extraordinary and fun to approach but if the Queen wakes up from her sleep, it is certain that there will be a sign of danger because the Queen is in a tantrum. Note : Although Queen often tantrums when she wakes up from her sleep, this is what made me fall in love because of her very different figure. Be careful with the forces of nature because we don't know when and where the Queen rages. Because if the Queen has gone berserk then she doesn't know tourists or locals. I can only hope that the Queen doesn't run amok and doesn't harm locals or tourists. Amen. 🙏 Every tourist will have a different experience when visiting Queen, The Queen's desire to go berserk is also an adventure, so I want to return to being beside the Queen because the Queen has everything (Super mega diversity) to gain experience and knowledge that is unusual for a tourist like me. Indonesia is more towards the category of tourist attractions for adventure and exploration. Not just for a honeymoon or relaxing because you will definitely lose something unique, strange, interesting and unreasonable in Indonesia as an experience and learning. It was the experience I felt. Not because I'm an Indonesian, but I think it's true for men as well. I always experienced scam attempts everytime I visited Thailand, ranging from taxi unwanted stop at a store where they opened the car rear door and insisted on selling things, or a scam collaboration between fake "Palace guards" and tuktuk drivers who took me to a jewelry store despite repeated refusals.
I've been to Thailand and Bali BUT I don't think you should compare a country and an island of a country. Thailand is a country and Bali is an island in Indonesia. What would be reasonable is comparing either Phuket or Krabi with Bali OR Bangkok with Jakarta. Your explanation with food, culture, costs, attraction are spot on though - I prefer Thailand over Indonesia in general. So I prefer Bangkok over Jakarta, Bali over Phuket but Krabi over Bali

@@brothersman524 besides the island of Lombok, there are many islands with beautiful beaches in Indonesia such as Raja Ampat, Ora Beach, Nihiwatu Beach ,Pulo Cinta, Maratua Island (Berau Regency), Pink Beach, Derawan Beach, Gili Trawangan-Lombok, Tanjung Kelayang beach in Belitung Island etc.

I know Raja Ampat and Pink Beach are beautiful but never heard of the others but I appreciate you listing them because I can have a look at them on YT. Bali is just one of 18,000 islands of Indonesia,i agreed to some previous comments here, its quite unfair to compare a single island to a whole country, Thailand. It might be better to compare Bali with Phuket or Koh Samui (Although we already knew which one is the clear winner here, far too superior 😁). As a single island Bali has it all,countless natural wonders eg beautiful beaches, mountains,islands,national parks,rich religious culture,and hospitality of its people. There's too many things to discover on each and every day in Bali, so short visits wont be enough.This is just one reason from many reasons, why so many foreigners called Bali home. I've been crisscrossing Thailand in my previous visits ,from Koh Lipe to Koh Samui, Chiang Rai to Narathiwat, countless road trips by motorbike to Buriram, Ayyuthaya,Hua Hin etc. But Imho, Bali is still no 1 on my list, a place i would spend the rest of my life into. I’ve been in Thailand now for a couple of weeks and am less than impressed to say the least! It’s one of the few times that I’ve been disappointed with a place and am thinking now about moving on to Bali soon.
I still prefer bali, even though its hot here but there is actually still the breeze.. meanwhile when i visited the temples in thailand it was so hot and i almost fainted and im an Indonesian wow!

based on my experience, the correct comparison should be BALI (kuta legian + south kuta, denpasar + seminyak canggu, ubud, nusa penida) vs THAILAND (phuket, bangkok, ciangmai, kohsamui + krabi)
I haven't been to Thailand yet, but one thing that I found really disappointing in Bali were the beaches. If you're not into surfing but like to swim, Bali is simply not for you. I've been there twice, for 6 and 8 weeks at a time, and while I love the Balinese aesthetic, I probably won't go there again. Thailand seems to have fantastic beaches and its cuisine is world famous, of course. Am looking forward to visiting Thailand for the first time in a year or two.
north Bali doesn't have wave, swim as deep as you wished . beaches in south Bali (touristic area) are indeed better for surfers, the wave is extremely supportive for them. but all places in Bali are basically for vacation, relaxation. indonesia have a lot of wonderful islands that you can take adventures on. if you only stayed in South Area, for sure you wouldn't find that much 'adventure vibes'....
Bali Bali, as you know, Indonesia has many more beautiful tourist attractions than the Bali you are talking about, such as Labuan Bajo, Lombok, Raja Ampat and others. Bali is more famous but this place is much more beautiful and still natural you can find hills, mountains, waterfalls and on the beach you can find White and Pink Sandy Beaches that you cannot find in Bali, I saw in the video I was amazed but after go there ? rubbish very much everywhere

Yes, I knew that Bali is an island within Indonesia, but most tourists only travel to Bali or Thailand. Perhaps Phuket would have been a better comparison, but I stand by the video as helpful to tourists 🙂
Thailand is better : internet is cheaper and faster especially for digital nomads, international malls everywhere, intercity transportations are easier to find and to book, traditional foods are cheaper in traditional hawkers / traditional markets, easy acces to different islands with much more affordable price than Bali, many kind entertainments. Long time staying ? Thailand (is stay more than 3 months), shorter time break (no more than 1 month then go to Bali. Totally agree with you Bali is more for spiritual rejuvination, Thailand is much more exciting for adventurous life. I have traveled and spent many times on both, so I know what you mean. However Bali is only an island as a part of big Indonesia, Thailand is a whole country. If you want to make it apple to apple and then you have comparing island to island, country to country, city to city. If you compare Thai as a nation and Indonesia, then I will choose Indonesia because it has tremendous choices. But I fyou are comparing Bangkok / Pattaya / Phuket to Bali you need to choose which cities in Bali you want to explain, eg Lovina, Ubud, Seminyak, Canggu, Denpasar, GIlimanuk, Kuta, Legian areas etc.
Impossible to compare even though I have been 20 times to Thailand & 5 times to Bali in the last 50 years ! My last visit to Bali was in May 2022 for 3 weeks. My husband & I spent more than 10,000 euros.On 1 January 2023, I will be in Bkk for 3 weeks on a BUDGET vacation of about 7,000 euros. In 2021, I had to cancel my Bali vacation because of Covid. Then it was possible to vacation in Thailand via the Phuket Sandbox but we prefered to wait another year to go to Bali. Unfortunately, tourism had not fully recovered in Bali because because our 5 * hotel had a pathetic 20 % occupancy. Sad to say, the Indonesian government had ruined the tourist industry of Bali by opening the Isle of God's one year later than Phuket !
Planning for a 5-6 days trip in October with wife and a 6 months old baby. This means can't be very free in moving around for long hours. Which place would be better in this case. And does Bali has good sight seeing and some reasonable shopping areas. I have been to Thailand in 2014 and I loved it. Would love to hear from you.
Depends on where you go. As a family, I would recommend Phuket in Thailand. Or, almost anywhere in Bali. If Bali, and you stay near Seminyak you have lots of shopping. If you stay near Ubud you have quiet beautiful areas. Can always take a driver for a day to do shopping.

Bali is an island not a different country, but Thailand is a country not an island, Bali is an island in Indonesia, so it is unfair to compare an island with a country, before making a reaction look for the information first.
People seem to be mad that you compare Thailand with Bali but it makes total sense: I’m traveling with 1-3 months at each destination and feel stressed out in Thailand because it’s so big. I look forward to going to BALI (vs the entire country of Indonesia). It appeals to me that I get to spend my time on an big island vs traveling throughout an entire country.
I'd go to either place mate! Thailand has those giant stingrays (Whip Rays) in the rivers, cool looking temples, and food I love! Bali has Diamond Beach and surfing at Kuta. I guess it would be tough decision! Enjoyed your video mate!

The only thing the different ethnic group has in common was that they was under Dutch rule. The modern Indonesia would not have existed without the preceeding Dutch rule. By the way the name Indonesia is Greek and means the Indian islands.

Why do I love Indonesia? This is informations.
You know, Mother Nature in this country is the mastermind behind major natural disasters that can hit many countries and cause many fatalities, not just 1 or 100 times, but more than that.
When I was a teenager, at the high school level I always studied and read books about nature in a library located in Europe. I found a book that said "Tambora The Years Without Summer" then also found a book that said "Krakatoa". Both of these books tell about nature and its brutality at the same time. Not only that, in the book it is explained that the incident is located in 1 country but in different regions. Was it the only tragedy that was written by the International? No, there is a lot of history of major natural disasters in Indonesia that are written internationally.
I have to be honest when talking about Indonesia, without many people realizing that nature in Indonesia is also very cruel, often raging, abnormal and brutal. Total natural disasters in Indonesia (8 Years Calculation) :
>Year 2022 = 1.421 (Period Jan - Jun).

>Year 2019 = 9,375

Total natural disasters for 8 years = 26.541 (This is the most violent, brutal and deadly category in the world because of calculations in 1 country, not Chile/Japan).
I became very interested in the history recorded by the International and finally I bought a textbook on natural disasters in Indonesia written by European researchers, scientists and historians. It turned out to be much more amazing, that's when I fell in love with nature in Indonesia. This is not only about beauty but also about history which has a huge impact on many countries in the world. Nature in Indonesia is not only beautiful, but also very unique, different, diverse, strange and great. But on the other hand it is also deadly, brutal, often occurs, many casualties and is written in European history. That is nature in Indonesia, it has very different class categories.
If you know all the volcanoes, rivers, lakes, caves, waterfalls, beaches, mountains, rice fields, forests, wastelands and others in Indonesia (Nature), the nature is very insane. For me personally, a visit to Indonesia is the most memorable for me because I have visited 51 natural tourist attractions.

Indonesia is a complete and very diverse tour package in large quantities. Even on trains, buses, airplanes, and ships, you can see different views from one country. It's really crazy, like going to another country but still in the same country. Imagine in 1 city and even then there are many tourist attractions. What about Indonesia as a whole? Millions of tourist attractions. Therefore, many people misunderstand tourism in Indonesia because it is too much and varied. Then you will find something unique and strange, at least go on 30 different trips to tourist attractions in Indonesia and I am sure you will have a much more extraordinary experience and lasting memories.

Nature in Indonesia is really insane very different class categories, there is a saying that says :
(Indonesia is the throne Queen Mother Nature).
There is even a study that has visited 400 tourist attractions in Indonesia and it is only 10% for him. From Sabang Sumatera to Merauke Papua (in 1 country) is expensive and long distance. It costs the same as you flying from Egypt to Dubai or Jakarta to South Korea or Spain to Belarus.
Indonesia was originally not an archipelago but a mainland called SUNDALAND (Western side of Indonesia) and SAHULLAND (Eastern side of Indonesia). However, 70% of the land was sunk into the ocean.

I'm well traveled, and aware that Bali is an island. I was only comparing holiday destinations, not countries. Mainly, because Australians love Thailand and Bali as destinations, whether they are countries or not we're irrelevant (you can't take a bus to Jakarta from Bali).

I've been to Bali and I've been to Thailands cities n resorts....in my opinion, Bali is superior compared to Thailand in terms of tourism, culture and arts, also food and hotels, people and nature. However you cannot compare Bali island to Thailand as a coutry

Ive not been to thailand. Ive been to bali a few times and loved the people there and the culture is way relaxed.. which I enjoyed. Youre right to say they are very tourist based. However i visited ubud and some of the smaller more authentic balinese places with gorgeous natural locations where I trekked and rode bikes through mountains, forests, rivers and waterfalls and their amazing rice fields. Plus the food in their more muslum areas was very vegan friendly and delicious..
The touristy areas can be a bit hectic like kuta beach and is overrun by westerners which can detract from the experience but its nice to go through there and support them as it is their main source of economy

I've been to Indonesia in 2015 & 2018. I visited Indonesia with the aim of exploring and adventuring, not for vacation or honeymoon. However, I have not explored Indonesia 100% because it is vast and also very diverse. Each region in Indonesia has different tourist or natural attractions, as if entering a different dimension. It's hard to explain, the point is when you go to Indonesia, what you visit with other regions in Indonesia is definitely different.
What made me so interested in Indonesia? The answer is nature, because nature in Indonesia has very clear differences in each region. Some even look strange, unique and absurd and there are lots of hidden places to explore. For me, Indonesia is very suitable to be used as a place for adventure, explorers and get unexpected experiences.
My personal conclusion about Indonesia :
Indonesia is like a very beautiful Queen, very graceful, very charming, very attractive, very stunning and very cool. However, keep in mind that although the Queen almost looks perfect, on the other hand the Queen also has a dangerous nature (Many natural disasters in Indonesia have been recorded internationally and even get the title of the most frequent and the most violent). When the Queen is asleep, the Queen looks extraordinary and fun to approach but if the Queen wakes up from her sleep, it is certain that there will be a sign of danger because the Queen is in a tantrum.
Note : Although Queen often tantrums when she wakes up from her sleep, this is what made me fall in love because of her very different figure. Be careful with the forces of nature because we don't know when and where the Queen rages. Because if the Queen has gone berserk then she doesn't know tourists or locals. I can only hope that the Queen doesn't run amok and doesn't harm locals or tourists. Amen. 🙏
Every tourist will have a different experience when visiting Queen, The Queen's desire to go berserk is also an adventure, so I want to return to being beside the Queen because the Queen has everything (Super mega diversity) to gain experience and knowledge that is unusual for a tourist like me. Indonesia is more towards the category of tourist attractions for adventure and exploration. Not just for a honeymoon or relaxing because you will definitely lose something unique, strange, interesting and unreasonable in Indonesia as an experience and learning. It was the experience I felt.

Not because I'm an Indonesian, but I think it's true for men as well. I always experienced scam attempts everytime I visited Thailand, ranging from taxi unwanted stop at a store where they opened the car rear door and insisted on selling things, or a scam collaboration between fake "Palace guards" and tuktuk drivers who took me to a jewelry store despite repeated refusals.
Yes, Thailand is very big on scams. Once you get used to them, or find out what they are, they're much easier to deal with and avoid :)

I've been to Thailand and Bali BUT I don't think you should compare a country and an island of a country. Thailand is a country and Bali is an island in Indonesia. What would be reasonable is comparing either Phuket or Krabi with Bali OR Bangkok with Jakarta. Your explanation with food, culture, costs, attraction are spot on though - I prefer Thailand over Indonesia in general.

@@brothersman524 besides the island of Lombok, there are many islands with beautiful beaches in Indonesia such as Raja Ampat, Ora Beach, Nihiwatu Beach ,Pulo Cinta, Maratua Island (Berau Regency), Pink Beach, Derawan Beach, Gili Trawangan-Lombok, Tanjung Kelayang beach in Belitung Island etc.

I know Raja Ampat and Pink Beach are beautiful but never heard of the others but I appreciate you listing them because I can have a look at them on YT. Bali is just one of 18,000 islands of Indonesia,i agreed to some previous comments here, its quite unfair to compare a single island to a whole country, Thailand.
It might be better to compare Bali with Phuket or Koh Samui (Although we already knew which one is the clear winner here, far too superior 😁).
As a single island Bali has it all,countless natural wonders eg beautiful beaches, mountains,islands,national parks,rich religious culture,and hospitality of its people.
There's too many things to discover on each and every day in Bali, so short visits wont be enough.This is just one reason from many reasons, why so many foreigners called Bali home.
I've been crisscrossing Thailand in my previous visits ,from Koh Lipe to Koh Samui, Chiang Rai to Narathiwat, countless road trips by motorbike to Buriram, Ayyuthaya,Hua Hin etc.
But Imho, Bali is still no 1 on my list, a place i would spend the rest of my life into.

I haven't been to Thailand yet, but one thing that I found really disappointing in Bali were the beaches. If you're not into surfing but like to swim, Bali is simply not for you. I've been there twice, for 6 and 8 weeks at a time, and while I love the Balinese aesthetic, I probably won't go there again. Thailand seems to have fantastic beaches and its cuisine is world famous, of course. Am looking forward to visiting Thailand for the first time in a year or two.

north Bali doesn't have wave, swim as deep as you wished . beaches in south Bali (touristic area) are indeed better for surfers, the wave is extremely supportive for them. but all places in Bali are basically for vacation, relaxation. indonesia have a lot of wonderful islands that you can take adventures on.
if you only stayed in South Area, for sure you wouldn't find that much 'adventure vibes'....

Bali Bali, as you know, Indonesia has many more beautiful tourist attractions than the Bali you are talking about, such as Labuan Bajo, Lombok, Raja Ampat and others. Bali is more famous but this place is much more beautiful and still natural you can find hills, mountains, waterfalls and on the beach you can find White and Pink Sandy Beaches that you cannot find in Bali, I saw in the video I was amazed but after go there ? rubbish very much everywhere

Yes, I knew that Bali is an island within Indonesia, but most tourists only travel to Bali or Thailand. Perhaps Phuket would have been a better comparison, but I stand by the video as helpful to tourists 🙂
Thailand is better : internet is cheaper and faster especially for digital nomads, international malls everywhere, intercity transportations are easier to find and to book, traditional foods are cheaper in traditional hawkers / traditional markets, easy acces to different islands with much more affordable price than Bali, many kind entertainments. Long time staying ? Thailand (is stay more than 3 months), shorter time break (no more than 1 month then go to Bali. Totally agree with you Bali is more for spiritual rejuvination, Thailand is much more exciting for adventurous life. I have traveled and spent many times on both, so I know what you mean.
However Bali is only an island as a part of big Indonesia, Thailand is a whole country. If you want to make it apple to apple and then you have comparing island to island, country to country, city to city. If you compare Thai as a nation and Indonesia, then I will choose Indonesia because it has tremendous choices. But I fyou are comparing Bangkok / Pattaya / Phuket to Bali you need to choose which cities in Bali you want to explain, eg Lovina, Ubud, Seminyak, Canggu, Denpasar, GIlimanuk, Kuta, Legian areas etc.

I disagree when it comes to accommodation: I don’t know when you went but Bali has cheaper accommodation at a much higher standard than Thailand.

Impossible to compare even though I have been 20 times to Thailand & 5 times to Bali in the last 50 years ! My last visit to Bali was in May 2022 for 3 weeks. My husband & I spent more than 10,000 euros.On 1 January 2023, I will be in Bkk for 3 weeks on a BUDGET vacation of about 7,000 euros. In 2021, I had to cancel my Bali vacation because of Covid. Then it was possible to vacation in Thailand via the Phuket Sandbox but we prefered to wait another year to go to Bali. Unfortunately, tourism had not fully recovered in Bali because because our 5 * hotel had a pathetic 20 % occupancy. Sad to say, the Indonesian government had ruined the tourist industry of Bali by opening the Isle of God's one year later than Phuket !
For me :accommodation is 30 dollars per day around the Pattaya beach
Planning for a 5-6 days trip in October with wife and a 6 months old baby. This means can't be very free in moving around for long hours. Which place would be better in this case. And does Bali has good sight seeing and some reasonable shopping areas.

Depends on where you go. As a family, I would recommend Phuket in Thailand. Or, almost anywhere in Bali. If Bali, and you stay near Seminyak you have lots of shopping. If you stay near Ubud you have quiet beautiful areas. Can always take a driver for a day to do shopping.

I look forward to going to BALI (vs the entire country of Indonesia). It appeals to me that I get to spend my time on an big island vs traveling throughout an entire country.
