The Captain is the unsung hero of this film. He may be a weeble of a human, but he takes his job seriously, looks out for all his people, and he isn't afraid to take on a difficult job if he feels its his responsibility. Even risks his own life and uses cunning to outsmart his enemy.
Agreed. He comes off as a slouch in the beginning, but that's only because a slouch is all he ever needed to be. But when it came time to rise up and take action, he proved that he truly deserved his position.
"why this is so much more romantic than most romantic films?" Easy: Most romantic films don't spend month's hoaning the communication or non-verbal aspects of two main characters. When you put this much effort in character design, it will leave 99% films behind. This is why I love this film. Its truly a masterclass when it comes communication between two main characters who barely have lines.
Yep. When people say that a film can’t be well written without good dialogue, this is what I point at to prove them wrong. It’s a masterclass in nonverbal storytelling.
34:42 that is actually my favorite detail about this entire movie. Once Wall-E gets rebuilt, he loses the shine in his eyes, the "life" of his character, so to speak. It's an amazing touch.
Yes, the emotional eyes have gone, the fact that the faceplat is the same as other Wall E model but this particular Wall E personality is distinguishable.
Fun Fact: The autopilot is the only character in the movie to be voiced by an actual robot. Pixer did that on purpose so the audience would feel unsettled by the autopilot because the human brain subconsciously knows which voices are human and which aren't.
Lmao 10 year old me didn't think that, with Auto being one of my first fictional character crushes. He IS a cool character, so I at least had SOME taste, lol.
@@snowbird1381 There was more than a little influence from Max from Flight of the Navigator, such as the white code that flows through the eye at 26:48.
now that you mention it...that actually makes me realize why auto was so unsettling. I think subconsciously I knew. Now that I look at it...with the robots they could still express some sort of emotion in their voices. Wall-e. Mo. Eve. etc. They even had breathing sound effects. Meanwhile...Auto sounds so lifeless. I'm impressed...Pixar REALLY knew how to mess with your subconscious. Too bad they went into the crapper >_>
I watched this in 2008, and it was astonishing and remarkable, this is what the sci-fi animation should be, and Pixar just continue live up its greatness. And especially this movie reflects real world problems such as rampant consumerism, corporate greed, environmental neglect and pollution, these may all come true in the future, surely we don't want that.
Legendary sound designer Ben Burtt also created many, if not most, of the famous sound effects for the original Star Wars films, including R2-D2's voice. He did the electronic vocal sounds for the robots in this movie too. A lot of Wall-E's head and expressive eyes were modeled after the sentient robot Johnny 5 from the movie "Short Circuit." You would really like that 80's movie too.
It's got to be the greatest example of a romantic film with the fewest words ever spoken. Pixar really knows how to use the visual medium to its greatest effect. Wow. Great movie.
I'm a grown up, cynical, stubborn, jaded old man, and I absolutely love WALL-E. This is one of the best pro-environment, pro-exercise, pro-recycle, pro-gardening, and don't step on bugs movies I have ever seen. AVATAR is another great one. I hope you have the DVD because the Bonus Features are hilarious. There is BURN-E, the robot that fixes the broken lights on the ship, and PRESTO the magic bunny, which is one of the funniest, old school cartoons you will ever see. Try not to pee yourself. If you liked the scene where the misfit robots get loose and go nuts, you will love the movie GREMLINS (1984). It's another Steven Spielberg classic for the Christmas season. There is more cuteness and silliness than jump scares, and all filmed at the same Universal lot where 'Back To The Future' and hundreds of others were filmed.
I never thought "hello dolly" would be so important to mankind. Been a while since i watched a nearly silent movie. So little dialog and so easy to follow. Walle is so frickin cute. Just hanging out and doing his job with his pet. Then SHE came into his life and everything changed. Nice love story. Nice space dance sequence. The robot that went outside the ship to replace the light bulb is BURN E. the DVD has a cute short about his adventure. Glad we got at least one ship of people back to earth. And now we can grow pizza plants. Great job Magy.
I absolutely love the credits of this movie... the music, the visuals of the people arriving back on earth and learning to once again live on and cultivate the land. I have a feeling so many people sleep on the credits.
I watched this with my five year old for his first time not long ago. Near the end, he looked at me asked me if I was ok. I wasn’t lol This movie gets me even though I’ve seen it fifty times
This remains my favourite Pixar film. I just love it - from the silent movie direction of the first act, to the art and setting, to the heartfelt love story. Just the best Loved your reaction to it! That little head bob when Auto was turned off was hilarious! And your reaction to Wall-E when he got rebuilt was touching
This movie is tailor made for a Magy reaction. Humour, love, emotion. And you handled the emotional moments very well. I was tearing up too. You should definitely react to more animations. Up, Soul and How To Train Your Dragon trilogy come to mind. Insightful as always in your summation. Thank You for this incredible reaction Magy.

Nobody ever reacts to the end sequence of this movie which is one of my favorite parts where they show people slowly bringing back the earth represented by images in many art styles. I guess it's because of the music and the damnable tyranny of copyright.
By far the best animated film I've ever seen. Toy story, Land Before Time, Shrek etc are all great, but none of them hit me in the feels as much as Wall-E does every single time.
Pixar did a great job with this one, but the ultimate presentation of emotion with no actual dialogue would be "The Married Life", or what is sometimes referred to as "The First 10 Minutes of Up". The story of the characters of Carl and Ellie in the first 10 minutes or so of that film are more tender and romantic and tragic than the vast majority of films in that genre.

I loved your reaction to this film, and it's in the top three that Pixar has ever done in my humble opinion. You're right about people being able to understand what's going on even if there's nothing said, or very little said. I was deep in Afghanistan and for reasons I won't get into, we had to impress this small village on top of this hill. Everything they were trying didn't seem to be working, so I thought I'd do something they weren't expecting. We "borrowed" the small projector out of the command post and hooked it up to my laptop and showed the movie "Finding Nemo" on the side of one of their structures. We Americans sat down and started watching the film and pretty soon other people wandered up and started watching, then the kids came over and all sat down and started watching. They didn't know what was being said, but they understood the film just fine. We got them to laugh and cry all without doing anything. We achieved our mission thanks to an animated movie and some quick thinking. I'm not proud of a lot in my life, but I am rather happy with that particular moment. By the way, what did you do to your fingers? You have tape on one and a band-aid on the other? Juggling knives for fun these days? I hope you're alright.

Also impressed with your dedication, breaking the nails, putting on band-aids, putting on new nails, breaking them " ouch" , putting on band-aids, rinse and repeat..LOL Maybe one day you will say" hummm, maybe the Freddie Kruger nails aren't for me " LOL... There are a bunch of subtle references you might have missed. This is one of my favorite computer-animated films! Im so happy you got to enjoy Wall-E. I think you would definitely love “Up.” That’s another one of my favorites! I hope you are well Magy and wishing you a wonderful day!!
It's a great movie, very heart-felt, a favorite of mine. I'm very impressed by just how much feeling and meaning the main characters convey with so few words.
Waaaaaaal-Eeeee! Yes Magy!🤗 My fav CGI of all time and the only one in my top 10 movies ever. Unmissable.💗 That line "I don't want to survive, I want to live!" reminded me of a favorite scene of mine from Solo. Solo being a robot protecting a little village, a conversation between a little village girl and Solo: *Girl: Aren't you hungry?* *Solo: I don't eat.* *Girl: Then how do you live?* *Solo: I don't live, I exist.* An average B movie, but an epic scene.
One of the greatest Pixar movies I watched in theaters at the time of release for 2008 glad you enjoyed the movie most hard reaction to watch especially for the end because it's masterpiece of a movie no words needed hardly to the whole movie
Im 40 and still tear up. Its just raw human emotion in its simplest form. A lot of great messages in this but in a playful way. Great reaction. You get it 😎👍
хлебарка! That’s the only Bulgarian word I know, because Ellie yelled it out in disgust when she was watching Wall-E 😆 I love your enthusiasm when you’re doing reactions. It makes me happy to watch with you.
Great reaction Magy!! And I am glad to see your back!..😃😃, this is great story, and yes, it has so many different messages in it, I remember the first time I watched this as well, and I had pretty much the same reaction as you, thank you for watching this, and I hope you will see more, take care!!..👍👍👍
Hi Magy! Great Reaction! Was sooo glad to see you understood this movie for exactly what is was. Cheer, Love, emotion, diligence, Love!, and happiness. Each time you watch it you'll get more from it. Including, the end credits, They will show how the humans evolved back to Earth! Keep on watching! Thanks....
I also LOVE this movie! Thank you! Recommendation: "The gods must be crazy". It's an older movie from 1980. Comedy from South Africa with deep emotional messages. Looking forward for more reactions! 👍👌😊
A very special and charming movie that showcased great CGI animation and storytelling with heart. There are a couple of mini movies you should check out that are happening during the events of the movie. I loved the Peter Gabriel song during the end credits. The red "eye" of OTTO is likely a homage to HAL, the Ship A.I. gone bad, in "2001: A space Odyssey"
Hey Magy, big Disney Pixar fan here, there are loads of classics out there, but one newish one for me, I think you might enjoy is Lilo and Stitch. An absolute blast in my opinion.
I'm not a big fan of most animated films. Especially Pixar and Disney, but sometimes they come out with one that doesn't talk down to their audience. This one is incredible. I also recommend Isle of Dogs.
I LOVED your reaction to this movie, Magy!! The movie is sooo good and well thought out!! If you think Wall-E is adorable, I recommend watch "Short Circuit" from 1986...Wall-E looks exactly like the robot (Johnny 5) from that movie!!! :) I think you would like it a lot!
He is the last one maybe becaude of his own personality, that also he is able to know when he needs to recharge or repair a damaged part, instead of the other Wall-e's that maybe worked until breakdown, literally
Something to point out: it's been 700 years since the Axiom left Earth. Of course the captain isn't going to know what a book is, everything he's ever known, even his ancestors 500 years ago, is voice-activated holographic screens. Auto and Wall-E will know books, though, since both are over 700 years old. There's no indication that Auto was ever replaced, and we know that Wall-E's model was left on Earth since it was abandoned, so we can assume that he was built before they left.
Otto’s (or Auto’s) red eye is a call back to 2001 A Space Odyssey‘s character HAL. A Stanley Kubrick classic. You heard the theme when the captain stood up.
Awesome reaction, Magy - glad you enjoyed this one. It is, as you thought, a warning about the possible future of humanity. Definitely one of my favourite films.
Wall-e is in my top 3 Pixar movies with Toy Story 3 and Up (they all are so good that the precise order is very dependent on my mood on the moment, just too hard to rank them objectively). If you can find it, I strongly suggest you to watch the short story Burn-e that was in the DVD bonuses. It's hilarious. I'd love to see you react to The Prodigies, The Suicide Shop or Mutafukaz, their all European (or mostly European) animated movies definitely not intended for children (or at least for younger ones) that deserve more visibility. There's also The Red Turtle, but for this one, the pacing may be too slow to render well on a reaction video, but it's a beautiful movie nonetheless.
AUTO isn't voiced by any human actor (though n the dubs he is with a robotic filter) but run through the text-to-audio program MacinTalk which makes him cold and robotic.
I never noticed that! They put a self-destruct button…on an escape pod?? “Enter the pod to escape the ship, and hit this button to make the *ultimate escape* .”
This is one of my favorite Pixar films I enjoyed your reaction to it Magy. You should also react to Monster's Inc (2001) which is another favorite of mine. ❤️❤️❤️
Technically, AUTO, the ship's commanding robot, is not evil, he just follows the directives given to him by the president. The main problem is that 700 years ago the humans didn't thought of giving AUTO some kind of programming to override his last directive to stay in space if certain conditions are met, like finding that green plant. Wall-E is a masterpiece, so many emotions even with barely any dialogue, and also kinda shows a future we could have IRL.
29:02 When I first watched the movie Babel, there was something wrong with my system and it didn't show subtitles although I thought I had turned them on. In the movie they speak English, Spanish, Arabic, Japanese and Japanese sign language, so there was no way to understand it all without them, but I thought it was a trick, a point for the movie to make, that it would be almost impossible for anyone to understand everything that was said in the whole movie (the point of the Biblical story of Babel being the sundering of languages and people not understanding each other), but that you could still follow it. It was a great experience, because you had to understand half of the story by just interpreting the body-language of the people and when I watched it later with subtitles, I had understood it perfectly well. A lot of details I missed of course, but the main story, the point of it was clear. Big recommend on that movie, by the way, with subtitles or without. 😁
In answer to your request, here are other animated films I'd recommend: Disney began an animation renaissance around 1990 with animated musicals. I recommend: - The Little Mermaid (1989) - Aladdin (1992) You've already seen Pixar's WALL-E and Coco. Here are other Pixar gems: - Toy Story (1995) - Monsters, Inc. (2001) - Finding Nemo (2003) - Inside Out (2015) - Finding Dory (2016)

And those last months flew through me like angry birds with razors..
It's a tribute to the animators to make machines emote emotions through their eyes and behavior. Goes to prove that acting is in the eyes.
Magy’s observations about what makes this movie great is so spot on. Fantastic reaction.👍👍
This movie is so good in non verbal story telling ... a lot of movie makers could take lessons from it.
Great reaction, as always.
This movie is so powerful and their is so much to love in this movie too, loved your reaction Magy
You reacted exactly as we expected 🥰 and wanted! Wall E is the cutest thing since babies & puppies 😍
This was when Pixar was at their best. I don't know if we'll ever see another animated movie as good as this one again
Such a true and pure reaction Magy. Beautiful movie, filled with cautionary messenges.
I was so excited when I got the notification about this. One of my favorite movies.
This is one of my favorite computer-animated films! Im so happy you got to enjoy Wall-E. I think you would definitely love “Up.” That’s another one of my favorites! I hope you are well Magy and wishing you a wonderful day!!
This was the first animated movie that brought tears to my eyes. And I don't even cry when I stub my toe.
It's a great movie, very heart-felt, a favorite of mine. I'm very impressed by just how much feeling and meaning the main characters convey with so few words.
back when disney/pixar made good movies. love your hair magy
Waaaaaaal-Eeeee! Yes Magy!🤗
My fav CGI of all time and the only one in my top 10 movies ever. Unmissable.💗
That line "I don't want to survive, I want to live!" reminded me of a favorite scene of mine from Solo. Solo being a robot protecting a little village, a conversation between a little village girl and Solo:
*Girl: Aren't you hungry?*
*Solo: I don't eat.*
*Girl: Then how do you live?*
*Solo: I don't live, I exist.*
An average B movie, but an epic scene.
One of the greatest Pixar movies I watched in theaters at the time of release for 2008 glad you enjoyed the movie most hard reaction to watch especially for the end because it's masterpiece of a movie no words needed hardly to the whole movie
WALL-E waking up in the morning is probably the most relatable scene in this movie :D
Im 40 and still tear up. Its just raw human emotion in its simplest form. A lot of great messages in this but in a playful way. Great reaction. You get it 😎👍
This is one of my most favorite Pixar movies of all time and Wall-e and Eve are so cute together
хлебарка!
That’s the only Bulgarian word I know, because Ellie yelled it out in disgust when she was watching Wall-E 😆
I love your enthusiasm when you’re doing reactions.
6:55 "Oh, my god! That's a dangerous woman!"
LOL, WALL-E agrees with you there 🤣
I'm so glad you enjoyed this film Magy it really tells a story without words, did you know the computer voice is the one and only Sigourney Werver.
When I first watch this movie I loved it sooo much that I watch it whenever I get time to watch. Still feels new.
this is one of 3 the best animated movies I've seen, and since I saw it back in 2008, Walle is by now on my desktop wallpaper 😊
omg I need to rewatch this masterpiece. watching it as a kid and adult are just feel different
One of my favorite Pixar movies thank you Magy the emotions get me in this movie so much.
When i saw wall e memory reset . That hit me deep 😢
It's the same feeling when your childhood friend doesnt act the same as before
Thanks....
Those who give up freedom for safety .. receive neither.
This was fun!!
Thank you. 😊
"He has SO MUCH personality!"
Yep, that pretty much sums up WHY this movie is SO great!
(so much personality, with barely a word spoken)
I also LOVE this movie! Thank you!
Recommendation: "The gods must be crazy". It's an older movie from 1980. Comedy from South Africa with deep emotional messages.
Looking forward for more reactions! 👍👌😊
Always ready to watch a Wall-E reaction. This movie is gem-stoned.
It’s AUTO as in Autopilot, not Otto.
Thanks for sharing. This is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES movies! SO good! And your reaction is just as good! Keep being a sweetie Magy! :)
Wall-E is my favorite movie of all time. It is a beautiful love movie and I teared up the first time I watched it.
My all-time favourite Pixar film.
This was the first blu-ray I owned. The sound effects in this movie are next level.
This is such a cute movie! Loved that you reacted to this.
I forgot to mention:
"Kung Fu Panda". And
"Zootopia"
These are awesome animated movies too. 👍👍😊😊
This was such a sweet and fun movie! Soo happy to see you react to this!
In the end credits they show how the earth gets restored. It also shows there are already plants there. Not just the one Wall-E discovered.
There's also The Red Turtle, but for this one, the pacing may be too slow to render well on a reaction video, but it's a beautiful movie nonetheless.
i saw it in cinema/theatre , and the credits were even better than the film itself , which was wonderfull!
You should watch Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron. Another example of showing emotions without words from a horse, amazing movie in my opinion.
Second.
Yeah I cry every time I watch this film and I'm 41 years old!
Yay it's back. I was only able to watch the first few minutes before going back to work, went on break and poof, gone 😔 Such a good cute movie
I love Wall.e. As someone who is a Robonrd, this little fellow is So cute
My first Disney movie 🍿🍿
Me and my mom love it so much
This is one of my favorite Pixar films I enjoyed your reaction to it Magy. You should also react to Monster's Inc (2001) which is another favorite of mine. ❤️❤️❤️
Technically, AUTO, the ship's commanding robot, is not evil, he just follows the directives given to him by the president.
The main problem is that 700 years ago the humans didn't thought of giving AUTO some kind of programming to override his last directive to stay in space
if certain conditions are met, like finding that green plant.
I have seen this movie when I was 9 years old In July 2008, and now I’m 24 years old
In answer to your request, here are other animated films I'd recommend:
Disney began an animation renaissance around 1990 with animated musicals. I recommend:
- The Little Mermaid (1989)
- Aladdin (1992)
You've already seen Pixar's WALL-E and Coco. Here are other Pixar gems:
- Toy Story (1995)
- Monsters, Inc. (2001)
- Finding Nemo (2003)
- Inside Out (2015)
- Finding Dory (2016)
Please watch "The Neverending Story".
That's a good movie.
