Thank you. I can't believe you included so much helpful information in this video.I noticed lots of things that I had never been taught / noticed before.
Technique of Latin Dancing (Gold Standard of International Ballroom Latin Dancing) WALTER LAIRD TIME SIGNATURE The time signature 1s 4/4. There is a musical accent on the 1st beat of each bar The dance should be started by taking a step on the 1st beat of a bar of music. TEMPO 28/30 bars/minute. TIMING AND BEAT VALUES The music is constructed so that the 4th beat of each bar is split into two equal parts. During the dance the first two steps of the Cha Cha Cha Chasse coincide with the two 1/2 beats formed by the split fourth beat. The third step of the Chasse coincides with the first beat of the next bar of music. FOOTWORK AND WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION All Forward Walks commence first on the toe and then on to the ball of foot with some pressure into the floor. The heel is lowered just before the full extent of the step is reached. This footwork is given in the charts as " Ball Flat" Backward Walks are taken first using the ball of the moving foot and then toe. Finally the heel is lowered as the weight is transferred as the full extent of the step is reached At the end of the step the heel of the foot without weight is allowed to release naturally from the floor. This should not result in any appreciable bend of the leg without weight. The footwork of such a step is described in the charts as " Ball Flat"
39:14 - This "Three Cha Cha Chas" variation is what I call the "Handshake Hold Switches" - from the way they quickly switch handshake holds in the progressive or regressive triple lock steps.
Nice video! However, I am confused at about 7:28 where it says when the man does the promenade to his LEFT, he lets go of his partner's LEFT hand. and when he turns to his RIGHT, he lets go of his partner's RIGHT hand. It seems to be the opposite shown in the video. Perhaps I am wrong, though.
Thank you very much for teaching and yout illustration. You all dance very nice. ❤❤
