A key highlight of their discussions will be the unveiling of a collaborative effort to develop the Remote-Controlled Howitzer 155mm Wheeled Artillery System (RCH 155), to be integrated onto Boxer vehicles.
This joint initiative is poised to not only bolster the military capabilities of both countries but also stimulate job growth, with hundreds of positions anticipated to be created in Britain and Germany. By harnessing cutting-edge technology and fostering cross-border cooperation, the UK and Germany aim to equip their armed forces with state-of-the-art tools essential for future ground warfare scenarios.

Its interesting that this is a joint development project and not a straight purchase. Reading all the articles in the last few days about this they kind of imply that the gun module needs more work and it isn't as production ready as the video suggests.
Gun module is ready and ordered by German and Ukrainian Armed Forces. UK just wants the additional ability to fire remotely.
Looks like a Yorkshire Terrier with an Alsatian's head. How stable is it in travel and as an artillery platform.

You surely could but this requires a lot of money and more important a lot of time. In times like we have it now it’s better to act quickly to stay dynamic.
The Crown Jewels are still safe and sound in the Tower of London and would be next to useless on a modern battlefield anyway.

If you want to develop a new Artillery System than wate to 2030+ for first Batch if all works out Uk even have enough suppliers, scall.
+ Why would they Brtish have Boxer, its a top chassi other Nations/Allies use it so better spare part availability, interchanability, Joint Training (cheaper) and very importand Economy of Scall = Order & Build more and the price per unit gets lower + just faster production
sorry this is the most ugly artillery system. ok we have boxer but we picked this over the K9
The RCH 155 is much more advanced than the K9.
It got all that new next Gen network stuff. Everything is fully automatic. It can be operated by only 2 people. It uses so much less gas and drives a lot faster.
It's the better option.
@@Sinista123 maybe the only thing I'm impressed with is it does fire 9 shells per minute. i''m also trying to find out what we will do with the 14 archer once we have the RCH 155. i hope we keep them.

Lol South Africa developed and built this system since the 80's. Just like the v shaped hull APC's the rest of the world only started using recently. Good old Suid-Afrika, n boer maak n plan.
That's because south Africa never developed advanced tracked armoured SPA as they have never fought a first or second world nation with large mechanised forces since ww2. what use is a v shaped hull in 1980's Europe when your main enemy will be fleets and fleets of soviet armoured units and anti tank aircraft lol

@@tylerdurden4006This howitzer was introduced two years ago. No nation has them yet. How can they run out? How would Ukraine changed anything about the RCH 155. The reason the UK is buying them is probably because they already have the GTK Boxer so the logistics are already there since the RCH 155 is just the Boxer with a new module.
