I just finished one of these myself, this line of kits does not miss! I think I prefer it to the Brady Hound, looks more robust and the moving eye is so cool!
The jo hound kind of reminds me of a dreadnought from 40k. It has a very simple “brick on legs” design with a very square body and relatively short limbs but is surprisingly articulated and versatile. One difference is that these things probably aren’t as important as dreadnoughts are to the imperium.
Just built the Jogan (as my first kit ever, even!) and I loved it. I'll be getting the rest, even these grunts. I too enjoy the heavy real-robot take they're doing here. These look like something we'll see in 40 years tromping around the battlefield and/or through urban sorties. Plus, for a HG the build is fun and the articulation really surprised me. Being new to gunpla etc. I've heard high grades can be/usually are "meh" so I was not expecting these Kyoukai Senki kits to be so good looking and enjoyable in hand.
HG, or any scale can be good or bad. Some old HG's are surprisingly well designed, and at same time some newer HG's from G-Reco/IBO/Build series has a mix of good and bad kit design. Just avoid any MISB "pseudo-HG"/ early 1/144 kits made before year 2000. Plastic, stickers and polycaps tend to be quite degraded due to aging. Safest bet is watch reviews and comments from other builders before deciding to buy any kits.
Great video as always! What if you look at kits youve reviewed and rate how well they hold up since some kits are great for a while then just start falling apart or loosening up. Like my mg bárbatos, it's lefy leg waist joint has completely loosened up to the point it can't support itself
As much as it’s nice to not have Polly caps, I’ve had so many figures sheer their joints off over time because they’re simply too tight. Won’t know it’s happening because it dosent feel any tighter then normal but eventually it’ll break. Had a mp gm I was working on for a couple months destroy itself. Was at the top of my budget and a dream kit but it shredded itself and has a life in a box now
Bunch of my local hobby places are unloading Kyokai Senki kits at a discount because nobody's buying them. Damn shame because I'm with you, they're some of the nicest builds I've ever done. Oh well, cheaper kits for me I guess.
Looks like it's straight outta Mechwarrior. The whole Hound line from this series look awesome. The only downside is that the grunts kits are the same price as the AMAIMS, so army building is gonna get expensive, especially if you get the carriers.
The ironic thing is, in my country, Kyoukai Senki main characters mech kits are not selling well, and prices starts to go down, and lots of unsold stocks everywhere. KyouSen Grunt units? Price increased to P-Bandai territory/scalped or outright sold out. Only Bunyips are available.
have not got a chance to watch much of the anime but sort of hope the other groups they fight get some models. really want the sword the one guys unit that manged to parry a bullet.
It's a good kit. However the price is a bit too high considering we get 30MM series offer lower price.. At most I think 1800 yen price tag seem fitting with this one. But again most HG Kyoukai Senki is expensive anyway.
I don't think 30MM kits are really a fair comparison for these. I've only built one Kyoukai Senki kit(the main character suit) and 2 30MMs and they are much more simple and not as good quality. Good for a quick build and customization, but Kyoukai Senki kits seem much more solid, last longer in use(no polycaps), and have a bunch of interesting tech in surprising places. If the grunt suits are just as good quality as the main ones, I would say the price is just about right for it.
@@GokutheBlack interestingly I think the Kyoukai Senki grunts are even better than the main machines. Not only that all of the protagonists’ machines are based on the same-ish build, while the grunts offer much more build and design variations, so take that as you will. I also think it’s worth mentioning the Kyoukai Senki 1/72 kits are also quite sizable, standing at almost the same height of typical Gundam 1/100, hence somewhat justifying the higher price point
My thing is, as good as a kit is, I can’t bring myself to get one for a series I don’t care about. I tried to watch the show and was over it real quick. Hopefully the bring the quality of these kits to better/more interesting series.
i would very much like you to attempt to reload that magazine, using only the range of motion provided by the model, when it's wielding the rifle in its right hand and then from the rifle being wielding in the left hand. that asymmetrical design of the rifle, combined with the lack of radial rotation in the forearms, impedes ambidextrous reloading, thereby limiting the rifle to only being used from the left hand. the rifle might look interesting but, for as practical as this line of mecha have been, it was not very well thought out; a sinister design, if you will. huehuehue
That thing looks like a heavy duty MT you'd see in the late PS2 Armored Core games.
And I love that.
A bit late.
But I'd love to see a diorama of a squad of Jo Hound & Mass Production Gun Mechs from 30mm taking on a custom Zowort.
I just finished one of these myself, this line of kits does not miss! I think I prefer it to the Brady Hound, looks more robust and the moving eye is so cool!
Same. This mech looks like an armored car with legs. It's front skirt looks like a Hummer
@@KamishirasawaKatori humvee on legs 😅

This thing is practically begging to get kitbashed with a knight.

Early HGs could be meh, but that hasn't been the case for well over a decade, with some notable exceptions...

With the armored, tanky figure, this would go along well with the HG00 Tieren model kit too.
I knew I wasn't the only one that thought it looked like the Tieren ground type
Seriously, we need more clunky grunt style suits in mecha. Yes, even for the heroes.
Votoms must satisfy your needs then
There's also Dougram, which is the basis of BattleTech and MechWarrior mech design as a whole.
That head and body shape reminds me of the Anf from Gundam 00.
Still annoyed there's no Anf kit...
That slyding knuckle on the punch hand is one of the best ideas Bandai ever had.
Yea but its not really sturdy for holding the rifles
It reminded me with front mission wanzer, it's solid but also agile at the same time
it looks a lot like the boxy MT's from ac6. which i love btw.
Your videos are so good they bypass all my filler skippers. Keep it up!
3:04 Wait a minute. The HGUC GM Sniper 2 comes with a minifigure of a civilian MS that looks very similar to this.
After watching a bunch of these reviews, I finally built the HG Kenbu and DAMN. Solid build.

Can't wait to see you review AMAIM Ghost 👍
Looks like the Hugo from IBO
This might be the model to get me into this line.
I recently started watching kyokai senki and I got the MaiLes kits on the way! Cant wait!
I just saw that Spooky is ok. I'm so happy for you.
1:55 Hacker spotted!
Prepare the snoot boop!
Are you going to review AMAIM Ghost anytime soon?
tbh this gives major metal gear vibes, but more grounded in reality
Bunch of my local hobby places are unloading Kyokai Senki kits at a discount because nobody's buying them. Damn shame because I'm with you, they're some of the nicest builds I've ever done. Oh well, cheaper kits for me I guess.

makes me think of the Anf from Gundam 00 but the head unit is not as elongated and lacked the "chin" mounted gun turret.
I ended up buying two of these just so I could Custom the second one! These grunts are rocking!
i love this line and the Jo Hound is amazing ,i think it is better than the brady hound by far !
This is what pops out if a graze and a tieran had a child
I only build two kits of this line so far but god daaaaamn they got it all. :,D They are so fun.
can the V-33 carrier carry it?
I don’t know why. But my brain saw the waist, thought about it for a few seconds and my first thought was “diaper. Attack diaper”
We got Amaim Ghost, Brady Phantom now. Just wishing that they make a Jo Hound, Nyuren... Ghost version
Not gonna happen.
Please review the Ghost
This is giving me such WANZER from the Front Mission series VIVES!!!
Thinking the same thought as you..
Will you be reviewing the P-BANDAI hguc Hazel owsla gigantic arm unit?
have not got a chance to watch much of the anime but sort of hope the other groups they fight get some models. really want the sword the one guys unit that manged to parry a bullet.
Do you know when we will get the ultimate version of this unit in the customize Brady hound?
Finally, we found out who's Joe
Looks like Front Mission wanzers, love it
Hey mecha, can you do a review for hg Raphael gundam and seravee II
That is so awesome! :D thanks for the video!
The design really remind of wanzer from front mission
It looks like the grunt that almost kill little setsuna and get beamed by 0 gundam in very first eps gundam 00
Hey can we get a size comparison with a HMM zoom kit if ya have any? I think they are also 1/72 scale
Sorry, may i know if this and the amaim warior compatible with 30mm kit?
I like it. How about 4 legs? Like Spot the dog, It might seem more realistic.
Are you going to get the strike freedom mgex
this grunt mecha kit is cool!
Try also ikaruga from knights&magic
nobody:
my brain for some reason when reading this: JO HOUND🎵 GOLDEN WIND🎵
is this kit compatible with the 30 minute mission (30mm)

The grunts and non main mecha looks better.. than the main once
How about compared to hmm zoids? Sincee it's 1/72 scale

HG Brace Phoenix version Lego , LOL!
This kit more closer to 30MM than other amaim machine kit.
👀👀👀
"The one seventy-twoth scale" What?
Rifle similar 2 graze rifle
I am Japanese. This anime is terrible, but Amain is cool, the plastic model is good, and your review is great!
I wanted to check out the anime but I've only heard bad things about it so far. What makes it so bad?
