Thank you so much for helping us to choose the correct mixture for the orchids, it is so very important, the plants are expensive and we loose them through sheer ignorance. Thank you, this is a video I can always refer back if I am not sure. Have a gorgeous day. Kind regards.
Thank you so very much for this great video just a few days after I asked for it. It is exactly what I needed. Unfortunately, it looks like i made many many mistakes and will have to repot almost all my orchids. But i am looking forward to do it and it will be fun. will be fun. Seems like you prefer to not put the pots in an additional decorative pot. ( Another mistake i made…). I would like to send a few pictures and ask for your guidance if you don’t mind. How do i go about that? Thank you again! Love you channel!
🫂💕 you can use cover pots just make sure it does not hold water, choose ones with holes in the bottom if you are growing outside . You can send the pictures here in the comments and I will do my best to give you the best advice I can to suit your environment 👍send your town / city so I can check up on the weather conditions there

Your orchids are beautiful 🤩 Please I have an orchid that is getting some black on the leaves, do you know what should I do to get it better. I like your idea to put some stones. Great video, thanks for sharing it ❤
thank you . black spots could be a number of different things . You can check out these videos of ours to help you identify them ua-cam.com/video/kvBMqeMsR-Y/v-deo.htmlsi=wV9WQ3bJomTl7_wm ua-cam.com/video/aeZNwlC2NRM/v-deo.htmlsi=rAiYaAoTOtkslIhH
I can't believe I bought a new miltoniopsis in medium size bark. One of the new leaves is crimped. Inside by the windowsill can be very cool during winter and the humidity is naturally high where I live. It's in bloom so i don't want to disturb it.
yeah a crimp to the leaf is often caused by a lack of water , the fan like wrinkling . so check your bark does not dry out completely or the water will just run straight through . bark can become hydrophobic if left to dry out completely and you may have to soak it to make it absorb enough water again
I have this video that describes the different media and explains how to choose your bark ua-cam.com/video/9qs0VkXEi0A/v-deo.htmlsi=Oh-TInH6aCfMdY_5 hope this helps 👍
I would like to know, I've a very dry and hot environment in summer and in winter is it very cold outside of my home, my home temp is about 12-15 C degree. What potting do you suggest
Really, really helpful information! My two project Cattleyas keep losing their roots after they grow them. They are very dehydrated orchids. I keep them in a warmed area with adequate lighting, nearest the humidifiers that deliver a fairly steady 50% humidity. They get watered routinely once a week, and I think they have received adequate nutrients. One just developed some black spots on it, seemingly out of nowhere, and required some leaf trimming and a clean up/repot. I think I will change the media, in hopes of maintaining the new growth it has, and hope the black areas were successfully treated with the Physan 20 I used. These two orchids have been a particular challenge. Yup. That’s what I’m going to do, aside from isolating it from my other plants. Wish me luck. 😅❤👍🤗🪴
it they keep losing their roots make sure you are not over feeding or over watering them , they are sensitive to salt buildup in the media . try upping the humidity around them if they are super dehydrated by using evaporation trays underneath them till they regrow new roots from the new shoots . Depending the media they are in perhaps you are overwatering ? the media might not be drying out fast enough ?
@@thenaturecompany I changed the mix, excluding any spag moss. They have a two bark mix (to vary shapes and increase air flow as much as possible) with a very small amount of charcoal and some LECA beads. I guess I thought it was good to use spag moss for encouraging root growth, but these plants don’t need the extra humidity in the pot, just around them. This is my ‘Aha’ moment for the week.😂👏🏻. I think I was not paying enough attention and should have removed the moss when they grew roots, or just not used it at all. Maybe they will be ok now. I can only wait and see.
Such a necessary tutorial about the various mixes. Awesome. What a great help. Thank you.
Glad you think so! and thanks for your feed back we really appreciate it 🫂

You mentioned ‘orchid bark’ is there a special bark I should use or can I use the same bark I use to melch the garden beds?
