For real though, if you take a closer look at the artwork in your Lorcana cards you can see the story start to come together.

The dedication that has gone into the art, design and backstory for the game so far is absolutely second to none. Part of why I adore Lorcana!
A lot of this reminds me of Epic Mickey. I hope Disney allows Ravensburger to get a little dark and edgy like the concept art for that game.
That’s what I thought too. Like the wizard from epic Mickey was the first ink user or something.
Once Upon a Time as well. Magic ink; fairy tale beings in other realities. It's almost like all of Disney is canon at this point.
So within the world of Lorcana, we see as a fact that each character that has a different sub title is a completely separate person. So Mickey could be both hero and villain at the same time, because there are separate Mickeys. This is why Steamboat Pilot, True Friend, and Brave Little Tailor all have completely different art styles
As someone who loves Disney but isn’t planning on playing Lorcana, I would love more videos like this as the game and story progress!

He's literally called a 'Wayward' Sorcerer. As in someone that is not necessarily known for good behaviour. So yes, he's up to no good.
I think we have a Dreamlight Valley situation going on where young Amethyst came and maybe accidentally twisted the Fantasia Story (Mickey isn't a villain but he is depicted as being in the wrong) and produced this Mickey with all her young angst, maybe this caused all of the colours to clash and create Amethyst or the flood. Perhaps this then led her to Ursula to get parts to fix the Illuminary- poetry could also be linked to singing hence Ursula and her boys stealing the orb- and somehow with Ursulas' influence, the flood worsened and Young Amethyst was thrown out and returned to her world. She grew up, forgot the events (same as Dreamlight) and now in her mundane life has been brought back.
The steel connection can be seen as a play on the pen is mightier than the sword- and her first new summon is Herc, suggesting that she has found a way to channel that angst/pain into doing something good (poetry).
I would assume by the brief of Rise of the Floodborn that some villains have been trying to use the flood for evil and some other characters have just been caught up in it as the flood randomly transforms characters that come into contact with it. There's also a reason for why King Trident was mentioned- so Ursula seems like a good lead but it does say it was washed away, not stolen. So?
Oh and I assume storyborn just exist in this realm because of Mickey's text. If he's there to greet us as Illumineers then he hasn't been summoned. The duke, Tink and Genie that are seen in the Great Illuminary are also storyborn. Wayward Sorcerer mickey and brooms are also the only dreamborn in the Illuminary. So perhaps that's why they could fix it but they now need our help as the missing lore is causing the realm to unravel again?
Just my two cents. Great video and it is a wonderful job that they've done with embedding a story into the art and overall Lore.
Love this background info and predictions, so fun! I like the idea of items as physical objects, it would explain why they don't need to 'dry'. Many dreamborn characters seem to have gems and gold accessories depicted. I had a lot of fun re-reading the flavour text, especially with the 'pen dividing line' to look for subtle meanings. I wonder if we'd ever see cards of the illuminary itself, or these lore caster people?
Maybe I missed where you point this out. But steamboat Mickey is a black and white glimmer in a full colour world. Isn’t that a sign that he’s not I. His own ink land, and possibly travelling through other worlds.
I’m not sure if I missed it but you are referring to the purple haired ilumineer as Amethyst, but it’s clear to me that she’s Amethyst Steel (with a lot of grey/silver accessories) also she seems to cast a Hercules who is from the steel ink. Each of those ilumineers are a combo of two colors. Also we are getting a Amethyst Steel starter on the next chapter. I wonder if more hints will show up in that deck :)
I believe I do mention that she's steel too but I could have forgotten to!
Can't say I'm planning on ever playing lorcana myself, but I love this kind of lore video. A fascinating analysis, I would definitely appreciate another video if/when we get more context on these mysteries.
I find 3 things really interesting in the cards you’re calling out: 1) Minnie appears to not only be walking through the destroyed Illuminary, but she’s walking on a suspended portion like a tightrope (in heels no less). I’m simultaneously asking ‘How?’ And ‘Why?’ 2) The brooms are classified as Dreamborn, not Storyborn. It’s been a while since I saw Fantasia, but they look pretty normal to the movie to my memory (aside from the purple fluid). So the purple fluid (yes, likely amethyst ink) makes them off-canon? 3) Wayward Sorcerer Mickey is classified as Dreamborn, not Floodborn. Implying he could have gone or been taken even further from canon. So, is he not as evil as may be first implied by the image?
Watching this just as Set 4 is being released... You were damn near bang on with everything...
Art and lore are two of my favorite aspects of a card game. So far, Lorcana is knocking it out of the park!

Wow kinda surprised the inkla ds were mentioned so early on cards considering what they announced now. Its very fun to try and figure out what game mechanics are next

This is a great opportunity for an animated TV show and toy merchandise like Pokemon and Yugioh.
Watching your guys interview with the Co creator he mentioned that they would stay true to the character "never turning a villain into a hero or a hero into a villain" that makes me believe mickey is actually helping in a cleanup effort and NOT a villain.

11:10 Shouldn't the flavourtext on the Genie card have a symbol of a treble clef next to it, rather than the open book, since that's a line from a song?
The press release for the second set confirms a lot of Wheel's suspicions, including that Ursula is behind everything, because the release says, "As the magical ink poured out of the illuminary, treasured lore went with it, including King Triton’s powerful trident." Seems like an open and shut case to me!
Does Jumba Jookiba have some of the seaweed under glass on his card or is that something else? The choice of flavor text on his card insinuates he might also have something to do with it.

The only thing that doesn't make sense about amathyst being the "evil" color is that Elsa and the other story born frozen characters are in amathyst.
well the ink colors do have gem names canonically so that does sound like much of a stretch at all to me

Where is the t word symbol you talked about, I don’t see it? The duke isn’t a villain. So floodborn are impossible versions of the characters. What was the point of summoning glimmers before the flood. Sorcerer just means magic user.
Got to wait for what the floodborn toons are, the game 2 brothers or brothers I love the little sister that is the first with move purple then silver trying to help,but big sister that is more or equal to silver purple coming ,summoned to help. Looking for clues at the bar. Why one is taller and the staff changes a little for the wielder. ?
11:10 Genie working on holding up the structure reminds me of the scene from Aladdin And The King of Thieves, when the 40 thieves raid the wedding and damage the palace, in response to which Genie starts holding bits of it up

maybe the purple poet is an *unintentional* kind of villain like, what if there's something that reacts to emotional states and her being in a state of upset leaving the club caused something without her knowing?
I wonder if the precons were constructed with colorways that represent "good vs. evil". Emerald and Ruby are control decks, so red would be evil control whereas green could be good? Green Horace is labeled as an ally. That said, since amber is a healing deck, could be safe to say that Mickey Wayward Sorcerer IS evil!
I hope the main villain is original and new and not darkborn Disney villains or something
Hercules was already in the room before she summoned him at least that's the easy it was in your video so I'm just a tad confused otherwise great video. Also I would really love to see the phantom blot as a character because we'll he's ink

Unless we get a show to help flesh out Lorcana and the Illumineers, the trans character seems to be just a checkbox pick. Something the creators can gloat about for social brownie points, if that's the representation that trans people want then I question their judgement.
Representation is a choice, also don’t support anti-science.
Seems to me that ursula took control of wayward mickey to help her rise to power for her return for the 4th set. Here comes Yen Sid and Mickey back to being heroes to stop Ursula from rising to power 🧙♂️🪄✨️
