    Man I would love to live in a place like this. I frankly could care less if I never had a television or internet connection. As long as I had a comfy home by the ocean and plenty of culture, thats all I want. There's already so much nonsense in media, television, and the internet. I yearn for a simpler life full of adventure, travel and genuine connection. Great job you're doing Jerry.

    No internet? I use it so much for making connections and finding out information. Yes she is living far more simply than most North Americans could. Also, she started this journey so young. I could have lived like that at nineteen easily, but for a lady at retirement age, used to comfort, it’s not realistic. I love that you’re showing us so many alternatives, Jerry. Alex is just lovely. That natural lifestyle obviously agrees with her.

      missmayflower I understand completely, and agree. Besides, it's all about adaptation, too. Not to mention the fact more amenities are needed as we age. And, that's not a negative implication either. Good day😀

      I think many people find , things they Thought they "needed", aren't Needed at all.... I Find this to be true whenever I travel in strange places. I will think to myself "how will I manage to thrive in a calm manner without things like internet?" but then, in many situations, you realize you dont even miss it... When I was traveling for a living, I didnt even think about using the internet until it was time for bed and I wanted to kill some time before sleeping... this is coming from a guy Raised on the internet and used it for my entire life lol. So just think about what you Truly need to be happy, many people find they have needs they didnt even realize, like I neeeed to live in a place where I can grow all my own foods and eat my own foods ill give up ANY technology for that :)

    Yes, I interview many friends and it's a better life if you experience and learn from others. One friend moved to Mex. from Alaska and bought a small ranch - enjoys life in a warmer and more friendly climate. Another Mex. guy lived his whole life in Conn. and moved to Mex. so he speaks English better than Spanish and says he's now making half the money for twice the work in beautiful Mex.

      We are only 40 minutes away from Guadalajara international Airport. Mexico has excellent airlines so yes you can catch a flight to anywhere in Mexico or anywhere in the world from Guadalajara International airport. $40 for a taxi each way. Or you can take a bus Mexico has excellent buses.

    Hi Jerry and Lori. Tom and I are going to be in Ajijic May 16th, are you guys going to be in town? We would love to meet you.= Lori is there any Thai products you need for me to bring? I live in Houston so there are plenty of Asian food etc...And could I bring them into Mexico? I have no idea about Mexican custom. We will fly into Guadalajara then take a taxi ( I guess) to Ajijic... What would you recommend? Thank you both for sharing the videos..

    • @missmayflower
      @missmayflower 6 років тому +2

      Madeleine Reilly Just before you exit the airport there is a booth to pay for your taxi, then you take your receipt outside to the taxi stand. So that way you can’t get scammed by fake taxis. It’s a great system. The fare will be under 500 pesos to Ajijic. It takes about 45 Minutes.

    No breakdown of her expenses? I thought I saw her home in another clip yesterday? Actually, if you go either to Yucatan, or Veracruz, you can also live on 600 a month, and have all the amenities like hot water and internet. The West coast is just always a bit higher, no? I am planning to be in the Huatulco area in the Fall, and I'm already looking at local/Spanish language real estate websites that offer unfurnished long term rentals. You can get a 3 BR/2 Bth apartment for around 7,000 or 8,000 Pesos a month. Some of these places are brand new. In Boca del Rio in Veracruz they are even cheaper. So, it all depends on where you want to be. In an expat community or a tourist area, you get gringo priced, and in a predominantly Mexican community you pay less, but may have to deal with little nuisances (like noise). Saludos! :)

      By subscribing all these subjects I have made videos. In Google type in Jerry Brown travels and then the topic you would like to have more information about it.(Example Jerry Brown Travels Medicare)Thank you for your comment. No, you cannot collect Medicare outside of the United States it's only available when you live in the United States. Some people buy Mexican healthcare insurance and some people like us we do not carry medical insurance in Mexico. We pay directly to the doctor or hospital.

    We have been watching your videos for a while and they are great!
    I live in Canada and my wife, my son and I want to move to Mexico. We have decided to retire early. My wife, Karen, is 42 and I, Cameron am 51. If we have little to no income coming in from Canada, do you know how much savings would be needed to grant Permanent Visa status?
    Thank you.

    • @JerryBrownTravels
      @JerryBrownTravels  6 років тому

      Approximately $1300 a month for each person
      VISA REQUIREMENTS AT MEXICAN CONSULATES OUTSIDE MEXICO:
      To qualify for the temporary visa they must show a monthly income of 300 times the minimum wage (for 2018 it is 88.36 pesos) or 26,508 pesos or $1,369 US dollars using an exchange rate of 19.37 to 1 (using January 3, 2018 exchange rate). This must be documented with 6 months bank statements. No internet, no hot water, I am not even asking about a car, no convenient shopping, no air conditioning in tropical temperatures, - all this to live on $600 per couple. Isn't this great? In my opinion, no, actually it isn't great. No, it's pretty uncomfortable. Obviously she is not saving nor she does have kids, so her future isn't going to be easy either.

      we all have different needs and looking at the world in different ways...when i was younger i could live like that and did with no problem, now i'm older i want a few comforts..there is no way we could possibly know what her future looks like or judge it...my life is blessed now but went through a few rough times and i'm sure this young woman, with her values and love of life will also have a blessed future..good to put a positive light out in the world for others, does wonders
