I think stingers are great but in this situation we need a device that the police can use from the window of the vehicle having officers sitting at the side of the road waiting to deploy the stinger against a vehicle always has the possibility of ending fatally we need better equipment
Like what? What ever they have nothing will stop a 13 tonne truck in its tracks in a matter of metres. Wont matter what the cops have tech wise the cops cant control an HGV coming to a stop. HGV Stingers are an improvement on what they had. Heavy duty spiked nets out the back of an X5? Well yes but they are cumbersome and that would leave no room for all the other kit police cars carry.

Fairly likely that the lorry was driving at close to flat out so unless the driver was very skilled little options for a sudden increase in speed to execute a more effective ram especially a direct ram across the police car bumper. A sudden swerve in a truck unlike a car is not really an option so the truck driver was limited to a steady push across the rear bumper and not a corner strike like the tacticalstops the patrol cars ocasinaly execute. This was never going to be a really dramatic chase. An hgv tractor unit with no trailer in a pursuit would however be something to see.
