I was the pontus, the fund's was ultra and pontus is only really good on large so it was a hard battle for me. Seleucid did really well. as soon as i saw his army comp i knew i wasn't gonna get many kill's, the whole battle for me was to delay as much as possible.
As this shows, kills don't always win you the game. Great roller coaster events on this one. For sure if i didn't know the time frame. When Pontius was breaking thought that was it. Had to yell at the tv for them to hold lol. Great video
Roman players! Please don't mix pre Marian reform units (ie, Velites, Hastati, Principes and Triarii) with post Marian reform legionary units, it just makes games total historical nonsense. Rant over. I totally agree with Joe Onit about deployables being crap. Shotel warriors are OP against armoured troops.
@@joeonitproductions No. Roman players who want spears after the Marian Reforms need to use some of the Auxilliary infantry units. A basic, realistic, late Republican/Imperial Roman Army should be one First OR Eagle cohort, seven Legionary cohorts and the rest Auxilliary, missile and cavalry units.
@@joeonitproductions Not really but a Legatus would be accurate for Imperial Rome. You could add maybe one or two Evocati (basically veterans) cohorts OR a Pretorian cohort or two to a Imperial Army if you want elites. Armoured legionaries (as per Rome 2, with extra arm and sometimes leg armour) were really only introduced for the Dacian Wars to counter the use of the Falx by Dacians and Thracians when the Roman's fought them under Trajan between 101-106 AD. In terms of cavalry every legion had its own cavalry unit, so one Legionary cavalry, plus one-three Auxililary cavalry units.

Awesome battle! Edge of my seat! Although Pontus was largely outmatched by Selucid (not just the players but the factions) I was a little skeptical about how the battle could be 59 min. Then I looked up and saw Sparta and Kush on defense with deployables.... yikes. It was really lucky the Roman player lost his artillery to a glitch deployable, would have been a good way to break up Sparta without using so many arrows or javies. Great commentary Joe!! Happy Belated Birthday!!
Deployables are fine to use, he just got unlucky. So many ppl have problems with deployables but the only time they glitch is when u take advantage of placement, spike traps do t glitch out like stakes do
@@spencervito75 I just don't like seeing them so seeing them used with two very powerful factions just made me cringe for the attackers. Unfortunately it looked like the spike traps bugged out and caused the Rome player to get stuck with his artillery, you can tell he's having trouble when it happens. Not saying that the attackers would have fared better if the deployables were not there, just saying they certainly didn't help the attackers. They lost when they failed to support Selucid's very good push for the TC, instead they sat back and allowed Kush to intervene and win the game.

Considerin selucid pike stackin u did really nice..
Seleucid let down by his allies ...sadly
I mean, Pontus is a pretty weak faction when compared to kush and Sparta tho
True
only half way through but im going to assume the Seleucid player is the one getting 3000 kills, he is playing really well so far
Could be kush as well but pls no spoiler 😉
Blooooooo

I'm not up to date with Roman history at all, but did they never use triarii after the pre Marian era was over?

At 19:51 i wonder how far one could have gone close to that ridge to flank those combined Spartan hoplite and Pontus' units (celtics + swords?)?
I wouldn’t have noticed anything about the thumbnail if you wouldn’t have mentioned it. Anyway another great video!
Thank you for your honestly bud
another great vid keep up the good work!
Thank you!

Each their own of course, I have always felt deployables give the defenders more of an advantage
Exactly Daniel. What truly made them lose was NOT chasing Kush back
Sparta sacrificed himeself for Kush, he ate tons of arrows and javelins :D

To salucid this is what happens when your teammates don't want to lose soldiers

I wonder if sparta and kush didnt hold the wall b/c Carthage accidentally forgot siege equipment. As like an ad hoc way of making things more fair
Ehhh maybe.
We didn’t hold the wall because they could shoot us from the hill with archers and arty, the guys on the wall would have been shredded
