Sam, I have a tip for this game (not just the skating), if you want to readjust your landing you shouldnt do it with the left stick but the right one (or AB and XY if in racer mode). Otherwise you'll land in a (nose)manual which counts as a seperate trick, and you'll lose your tricks quicker.
