Good job with the walleyes/saugers! The Rock warmed up to 41.4 degrees this afternoon. Cats biting in 9' of water but the best action was smallmouths on cranks with the boat anchored in 5 feet.
@@AnglerX The late fall/early winter cat bite has been consistent. Only 1 bad day so far. Today was the one day I found 2 large schools of fish and left the dip bait at home. A glow moonlight jig and minnow does a decent job for me in a pinch.
@@timmarkowicz779 I'm fishing way downstream - Sterling to Erie Il. The Rock seems like a totally different animal up there since there are lots of dams upstream from me and the river seems much slower and deeper than what I deal with. Team Extreme Fishing (he appears in some of Angler X's videos) has some Rock River videos on his channel. I believe there form the Ft. Atkinson area. I usually hear good reports from people that fish in that area. Good luck!
@rocket9392 Oh wow. You're down there by Grand Detour. Flathead city! I used to fish the Rock in the Rockford area down to the mouth of the Kishwaukee when I lived in Illinois.
Good to see your making the most out of your options. I had the boat out on my local river on Christmas Eve. Caught twelve eyes/saugers from 13" to 17". I couldn't get bit on plastic. Didn't try the blades. I opted for minnows on a split shot and hook. Almost no current really. Fun day.
@@AnglerX yes I recently moved from Tennessee to Alabama. I have fished a lot up north Canada 6x, Erie 2x, Green Bay, sturgeon bay, bago, Depere, Oconto, lake vermilion
I agree! The 'eyes are nice looking fish. It probably has a name but I'm not sure what the knot is called. I'll have to demonstrate it in a video sometime. I connect the two lines with an overhand knot, twist the two lines together, and pass the tag ends through the loop that formed and pull tight. I'm sure that didn't help you at all, sorry.
@AnglerX That's the same one I use for mono to mono or mono to fluorocarbon. It's a seaguar knot. Super easy to tie. I use blaze orange Berkeley Big Game mono to a BPS Excel fluorocarbon. For braid to mono or fluorocarbon, I use a quadruple surgeon's knot.
Those first and last fish were really nice! I've recently retired and have taken up fishing again after many years. What's the yellow/orange line you're using, if you don't mind me asking? Great video(s)! Thanks!
Chunker sauger! Nice! Got a new rod, needing a new reel. Looks like you got some time on the water with those Carbon X reels. How you liking them so far? Also wondering, the reel is for a 7’3” NRX spinning rod. You recommend the 2000 or 3000, for size? I use 2/10 yellow power pro for line. Anyway, Merry Christmas and keep posting the bite, helps me through my work days😆
2000 size is perfect size and it have deep spool so you can put up to like 200yard plus of line I think? I had one on my st.croix eyecon but switch it out to Shimano Stradic Ci4+ 2500 size
Yes. I recently moved from Tennessee to Alabama.
"Just an absolute toad of a little walleye" was my favorite quote from the video haha. Nice work Lance. Way to make the most of the warmer temps!
Those fish are packing it on. All of them had chubby bellies.
@@AnglerX I just cleaned one yesterday that had a pumpkinseed in it!
Really enjoyed the video👍
Thank you! I appreciate the comment.
Nice!
Thank you!
You got some good ones for sure. Great video
Thank you @riverrat988
😂 You and that river are connected by the hip! I don’t blame you with fish like that in your backyard!
We wanted to head north to find ice but it doesn't look great right now.
@@AnglerX yeah going to have to head north of DL area of MN if you want a for sure thing for ice!
That's was my understanding as well.
Well done as always

The Mississippi River went up about 5 degrees up here. That’s interesting to hear about the channel cats.

I plan on fishing the Rock next spring from Ft. Atkinson thru Koshkonong to Janesville. I live about an hour east of there. Any tips?

That’s a great day you had! I’m enjoying the open water in December.
Awesome content all the time! But what kind of boat is that?
Thank you! Lund 1625 Fury XL

Put the boat in storage after deer season , waiting for ice now! I am a little jealous right now , great video Lance .
I keep a boat ready all winter long. You just never know these days. Thank yo for the comment!
Enjoyed as always, learned as usual too. TIGHT LINES
Tight lines!
Where do you buy your blade baits from??
I bought the B Fish N blades from Emma’s Bait and Tackle in Onalaska
I bought those same blade baits at Captain Hook's Bait and Tackle in Genoa.
