Same idea as I had (I already created a shadow box of my military insignia and the knife I got giftet from my CO) but I would like to add some see through panels with magnets to easily clean the thing. This way my super nice looking and expensive tools become decorative and easy to clean in my office/shop space.
Great video, and it looks fantastic. Don’t be surprised if you see something similar from me soon. That was the reason I cut out the Dremel Logo a few weeks back.
if you ever decide you want a new stud finder and can't find a red one you like, you can always pull a diresta and tape off the casing of it and spray paint it red. he paints most of his tools white, or did.
Do you have any suggestions for how cables could be stored this way? e.g. I have a multimeter with various probes/cables. I'd like to keep everything together in a case but I'm not sure the foam would be suited to holding the cables since they're flexible. I was thinking maybe installing some clear plastic boxes, maybe round ones, into the shadowfoam and putting the cables into the boxes. They could also be wrapped around a cylinder/drum. Any better ideas? Currently the case has some 'cube foam' in which I made a rectangular space where all the random bits get stuffed, not so nice.
My thinking is in a case, sometimes I like to cut recesses behind items to stuff the cable or wire. Not the tidiest storage method but keeps them out of sight
Do you know the IKEA name or product code for the picture frames? On their website they don’t state how deep they are. Did you use your 30mm foam for this? Thanks and great job 👏
@ShadowFoam love this idea as it means if you get more tools you can just add another frame any ideas what to do if you need 100ml depth though? Want to do this with some larger tools that need the depth ?
I started using DIN rail from the electrical wholesalers for the French cleat wall. Very quick to install.

Really like that idea! Drop me a line when you’ve finished as I’d love to see how that project turns out! 👍
@@ShadowFoam First I need to create a layout and order the foam from you guys xD
I love it! Two solutions in one. French Cleat & foam
2 is always better than 1 friend

Looks amazing 👍
Cheers! Incredible what can spawn from a cheeky IKEA trip 😅
That looks awesome , IKEA here I come what size shadow foam do I need to order
You can either measure the frames and order a custom size or buy a sample pack and chop them down yourself! 👍

Should've thought of that!

We used 50mm foam - that seems to fit snuggly 👍

@@grantmaxfield7301 take the backs off 2 frames and screw them together. Glue 2x50mm foam together and insert into frame
@@grantmaxfield7301 we did that in this project - ua-cam.com/video/P-Mqtg6kGL8/v-deo.html
@@ShadowFoam brill thanks dont supose you have come across any frames that fit your standard medium 600 x 420 that would almost be to convientiant lol
Haha! A wall of red tools and not a single Milwaukee tool in sight! 😂
