Watching this old film footage is great. The martial arts has changed alot over the years. Back then it was about honour and respect. It was a study through the education of the martial arts. The fighting arts are always there - that is obvious. However, to focus on the accomplishments and the learning process should be the goal. Perfection is realizing that there is no perfection. If you focus on perfecting your skills and self growth , its hard to think about the fighting aspect. Utilizing the martial arts to help people to grow or teaching values to people is by far a greater asset. Thanks for this video it brings us back.
When I faced Aikido pins I wonder one thing. Sometimes people called Aikido pins 'lessons'. If you share this point of view how do you think what this lessons taught?
An unusually coordinated way of using the full body. Energy flow through the body. Energy flow between two and more bodies, and using one's will to instantaneously move both uke and tori together as one through a channel of NO RESISTANCE, as if under control of just one non-materially manifested "brain". These are the "olden days aikijujitsu" themes and religious subjects that interested Ueshiba O-Sensei so much.
@@vano-559 That old style aikijujitsu was not what Ueshiba is showing, instead this is his personal intepretation/integration of what he thought was important about it. Imagine a very special foreign dish with an almost forgotten recipe and this is a Japanese chef who had a Satori experience (psychotic break) and in his mind it all came together, how it should be cooked.
@@vano-559 In my opinion Aikido is very corrupt and degenerate if looked at as just a school of AikiJujutsu, but if you shift your perspective to see it as a "Chef Special" with some AikiJujutsu themes and ideas mixed in it, then it's very unique and interesting as its own separate thing!
