This spritely Minuet certainly jumps around a bit, but mixes livelier section with some smoother calmer ones, creating a very attractive piece. Semiquavers, quick dotted rhythms, staccatos, running scales and some large left-hand leaps all help to create the character.
This is a piece of contrasts, asking you to play smoothly one minute and detached the next, so be prepared! There are quite a few semiquavers in this piece, but you won't want to rush them, as theyŕe an important. part of the tune. They tend to lead into the next bar, so a little crescendo through each semiquaver group toward the downbeat of the next bar could help provide som nice direction.
Differently to the opening, the start of the phrase at bar 5 asks for a more legato, singing kind of sound, without the leaps and fast notes in much of the rest of the piece - the same kind of sound could be useful in bars 11 and 12.
The left hand use both treble and bass clefs, so you may wish tomark these before you start learning this piece, and study the left hand on its own, so that your're fully aware of which part of the keyboard you should playing in. (Trinity official)
