I don’t aim I just get a feel for the shot if that makes sense. It’s all about confidence. Reasonable confidence

I play in low light at night.. the rim is litteraly a shadow... I use my feels to score... if I aim I might miss more than if I use my feels

After my back injury resulted in multiple slip discs in my spine I can no longer do a lot of jump shots without feeling the pain on landing so I started shooting high arching “moon shot” without jumping by aiming higher in the middle of the ring. I’m a much better than before. Even my mini jump shots are quicker and easier to get off, kind of already in shooting motion before feet’s off the ground.

how do you look at the middle of the rim?
I've only played on an actual team in 8th grade, I switched to wrestling my freshman year and haven't been in a sport since then. Hoping to get into basketball this year, not gonna tryout for my HS team but I'm definitely gonna try to get better and maybe join a local league after I graduate

Also, the further you are, you have to have a bigger arc. So I aim for the middle normally, but a little towards the back as I go further out.

The 3 hooks is always the best, but I've learned to just aim for the front of the rim bc back then I just aimed for the back of the rim a little bit and it was helpful but not that I aim for the front of the rim I'm more consistent then before
Some rims have no hooks. Aim for the front of rim all the time. Its the closest to your eye sight.

Ya I was confused like there’s only the front rim and back rim. I guess you could visualize the middle but the front and back pretty much all you see.

What about dipping I find it easier and I’m more relaxed as a lefty?
I found it hard to aim for the middle and drain my shots. When I aim front or back I can just lock on and see it but I feel like aiming for the middle is a lot more psychological I can’t really lock on with my eyes.

that is why this is a dumb video, we are all aiming for the middle of the basket lol, thats what the game is, but like you said where do you look? thats why its better for me to shot for the back of the rim bc if you under shoot then it goes in and if you over shot then you have a chance of banking it in, if you go for the front of the rim and you under shoot, its just an airball.

It's the same as everyone else champ...I have a video on my page that goes over the BEEF principles of shooting a basketball, check it out.
I have tried to aim on differnet spots, mostly backside of the rim or knots of the net. But i feels never right and it never helped me an in my opinion it can't. Because you throw a ball with a good arc. If you aiming on a specific spot, your shoot going flater. By now I am not realy aiming on a spot, just try to throw a ball with a good arc into a rim :-)

Okay i got this down, now how do i increase my shooting range? Im always struggling to shoot 3's accurately because i dont have enough strength to shoot accurate, so i end up just tossing the ball and praying it goes in.

Work out and get strong bro
First you want to work out and get the strength in your arms, but, also when you jump in the air, when you shoot you need to have your hands above your head, you get there as you raise you arms when you jump. When you are up there, you want to push at your elbows, your arms need to straighten out when you push. When the energy flows through your arms, you've pushed and it gets your wrist, roll the ball off your fingers and when the ball rolls off, flip that wrist in a carefully timed, swift motion. The push is your strength from your quick straightening arms, and the release is rolling it off your fingers, and the wrist flop is the arc. The strength, technique, skill and structure, really helps with your shot. Also release timing for different guys are different depending on how fast you reach your comfortable pivot point. Your jump and arms will work together to swiftly shoot that ball.
I mean first try to see if you have good form, if not, work on that first and if you still don’t have the strength, then just get stronger

Rewatch! You'll want to get it between the rings, but you want the ball to DROP into the middle of the bucket, vs aiming and trying to hit the front or back of the rim

Hey Ryan I’ve had a question for so long that’s haven’t been answered. So I shoot with my middle and index finger but are those the only fingers that shoot the ball or do they just touch the ball last
Good question, those are just the last 2 fingers that touch when shooting. I have a shooting vid on my page that might help you figure it out a bit more. Check it out...Good question though!

@@merkul9200 Bad idea...Your whole wrist will snap which means the fingers go with it but the middle and index finger will control where the ball goes.

@Krish SAKHRANI yessir, have you ever used a shooting machine? The net is high so you have to use a higher arc. A couple hours a day. You're shot will be improved within a few weeks.

Just have a higher arc and fade on your jumpshot just a little bit. Damian lillard always slightly fades on his jumpshots to shoot over taller players, if you have a low set point slightly fading on your jumpshot is useful and can help you shoot over taller defenders.
